CHIRP AUDIOBOOK

This is a great story/adventure with Chase Gordon interacting with the cartel and world wide shipping in an attempt to solve the mystery of an airplane crash at sea… The storyline intensifies with each chapter and concludes with a bloodbath. I enjoyed this fast paced book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

Douglas Pratt takes us on a trip through several countries as Chase Gordon tries to sort out a safe way to take young lady Allie home before she is murdered by hired guns. Leave it up to Chase to find another somebody needing to be rescued while he is hundreds of miles from civilization. He's also without any means of communication.
Traveling for days with a good-looking lass is more than a typical good guy could endure without seeking hormonal relief, so intimacy is on their agenda. No one said Chase is a good guy anyway.
Chase continues to have near death experiences and manages to get away with being shot, sliced by obstacles, almost drowned, and falling great distances, and he keeps on going. And Allie does too until she's kidnapped.
There's an unusual twist in the last chapter that had my stomach churning. So much for those we think we can trust.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Devil Water, number 5 in the Chase Gordon Tropical Thrillers series proves yet again that Douglas Pratt has taken his place as the master of the genre. The book has an original and well-developed plot that combines nonstop adventure with interesting locales, great characters, and endless twists and turns. When Chase witnesses a plane crash in the middle of the Caribbean, he rescues the one survivor, Allie Tremblay, the heir to a global shipping empire. In his attempt to return her home safely, it soon becomes clear that evil interests would rather she had perished in the crash. Outrunning the mercenaries after them takes them to several island nations where their lives are constantly at risk. Just when the action slows a bit, a totally unexpected conclusion leaves you wondering what the heck happened. This is adrenaline-fueled entertainment at its best.

This story begins with Chase taking time for himself. While on the waters her witnesses an aiplane crashing in the water and realizing he is the closest one, gets his gear to see if he could help. He arrives at the location and dives below to check the plane out. He discovers that the pilots are all dead but does discover a passenger that is still alive. He is able to rescue her and they return to his boat where he heads to the closest location where he might find help. They land on a small island with an army outpost where he hopes to get help. After a leisure day on the island, it comes under attack and he and Allie, the survivor of the plane crash, up anchor and head to another island. Again they come under attack and wind up escaping to Panama through the assistance of a former Marine pilot.

They arrive in Panama and hope that their troubles are finally over. This is not to be. To discover why the plane crashed, why Allie and Chase came under attack and what happened in Panama, then you need to read this book. The ending is one that you wouldn't expect.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Chase is alone (of course) on his boat when he sees a plane crash into the ocean. He grabs his scuba gear gets in his dinghy and motors over. The plane is sinking and on fire. He heads inside, saves the lone passenger, brings her up and dives again for the crew but they didn't survive. He has trouble getting out but manages in the end.

The adventure starts after speaking with Anna who tells him her sister recently met with an accident and her Dad died and now she was in a plane crash? Too many coincidences for Chase. He resolves to help her find out what's going on. One country to another, one escape from death after another until he's shot and Anna taken.

Chase does get revenge but not totally. It's an adventure story typical of Chase but not the typical ending.

Chase Gordon is a unique combination of highly trained veteran, boat bum, romantic and scary guy (if crossed). In Devil Water he is minding his own business in the Caribbean when trouble, and a beautiful woman come crashing in. Of course, he cant help himself and swings into action taking them from tropical islands to Jamaica, Panama and even snowy Canada. Action, intrigue, blood and carnage ensue, as expected. The real bonus is the travel guide quality descriptions, character reveals and atmosphere details. Sights, sounds, smells and real human characteristics are always part of Douglas Pratt's work.

Intense and enjoyable.

Other reviewers have summarized the plot so I won't repeat them. I received this book as an advanced read copy and thoroughly enjoyed the book from cover to cover. Douglas Pratt pens really good thrillers and I have enjoyed reading this one just as much as the others he's written. This book is well worth your time. If you haven't read any of his books, I highly encourage you to start with the first one in this series. But, even if you don't, the author provides just enough back story so the reader can enjoy this book before reading his others.

Owners of a huge international shipping firm begin to die as a drug cartel delivers death

Shipping containers on massive ships carry anything and everything world wide and are a perfect avenue for illicit dregs and contraband. When greed takes over and the owners begin to die those behind the secret shipments and their vast sums of money begin to take center stage and no one is safe. Excellent characters, plenty of action, and fascinating locations as Chase finds himself at the center of it all. Well worth the time.

Fasten your seat belt, this plot grabs you from the first page
A water pump on his boat, caused a delayed of him leaving
A plane crashing into the water close by, a woman he saves
A name given, the information given, a freight company
The more he digs, till bullets came, as does questions
Telling him to forget her, and all information, unhealthy
if he doesn’t. The author has excelled himself with this story
Reader will enjoy. Given ARC for my voluntary review and
my honest opinion.

If you enjoy pulse-pounding, gut-wrenching, hold your breath excitement - than this is the book for you. Chase Gordon has had adventures but none so intense as Devil Water. Chapter after chapter the emotions intensify until finally you can breathe again. It's Chase at his best and worst because getting even is his goal and nothing will stand in his way. Masterfully written. Superbly conceived and Very Highly Recommended.

Another awesome read with a lot of mystery, suspense, and twists and turns. While Chase is repairing his sailboat in calm waters a plane crashes towards his boat. He rescues the one survivor Allie Tremblay who was returning home from Panama with her father’s ashes. Soon Chase realizes that someone is out to murder Allie and they head back to Panama City. This is an exciting read with a surprise ending that you don’t see coming.

Full on action with twists.

Hi, I received an advance copy, downloaded it and I really didn't put it down. When the last page came I wanted more pages like a kid wants sweets.  I just love the movie that Doug creates for my mind.  Everything just comes alive.  My mind is immersed in the lives of the characters. I can't wait for the next adventure.

Devil Water

This guy is my sort of hero. The story ran really well from the first page and had me turning the pages without a stop, except for the regular cup of tee, until the end. Highly recommended and I have to say the author is one of my top five for action adventure stories. Now onto the next one.

With the bar still being renovated, Chase decides to take Carina on a leisurely cruise to Belize. In the middle of the ocean, he witnesses a corporate jet go down. He rescues the on'y survivor, the CEO of a major container freight company. The problem is, some containers might be smuggling drugs and the CIA might be setting Chase up to do their dirty work for them.

Exciting with a lot of twists. An excellent narration. The end was a little bit of a let down. Am hoping the next in series would ‘carry through.’ A nice read if you’re bored, the excitement will break that ennui up. Clean.
