My friend asked me recently what kind of poems I like. I confessed I love the poets who write about what I care about. They said "oh yeah? Like..?" And I said, "oh you know, some class war shit."
For example, lines like these from Ryan Eckes:
"The raises can't keep up with the rent, so the bricks are catching up to the windows"
Or
"thomas jefferson called me an outside agitator w/ his cement-gray lips/ but I was not outside of anything"
Or
"at the end of the tunnel, another middle-class person is talking about individual responsibility/ we have to run him over and keep going"
