Kelly Finley is an author of contemporary romances featuring bada** women and grown-a** men.

She lives in the Carolinas with her husband and family. A rebel with many causes, she fancies black leather, dirty jokes, and smart mouths.

Thrilled by a flipped script, she gives us steamy, sexy heroines who are often missing, particularly from suspense and military romance. Her books feature heat we almost can't handle & shameless characters we champion and love.

She's most likely at her keyboard right now, putting the next heroine on the page.

I'm so mad. I would have NEVER invested my time and read this book if I had known it would turn into a menage. And just for that I'm gonna give 1 star. I need those authors to stop playing with their readers emotions and being HONEST about what we getting ourselves into from the very beginning. I'm tired of being SOLD a love story and being ambushed in those menage once that I'm already invested in a couple. There is absolutely NO logic in writing a hero like redix jealous and possessive and then for him to be ready to happily share his woman in the next breathe

WHOA! (this review will hurt. As an arc reader it's taken in days to formulate how I want to review it)

A second, third, fourth? .... chance for these two.

I was iffy about his reason for leaving. It seemed to drag out the suspense and truthfully it was very anti-climatic. I had run things in my head way worse so I felt a little let down when we finally found out the reason. Add in 10 yrs gone for that? So wild.

These two seemed to have a strong bond for a young age and very little "lovers" time together for a 10 yr gap to still have such strong feelings. I could see maybe two years for him to get his shit together.

I do love a strong female and she seems it to a degree except when it came to HIM. She so such a pushover it hurt. I wanted her to just dust off her hands and walk away. It hurt my heart to see her so manipulated by him, all I could think was "if this were my daughter and I saw her getting hurt over and over BY THE SAME ACTION, I'd do my best to put a stop to it, NOT encourage it." Love or not, that was manipulation to the fullest.

My hope is that any female that reads this sees this manipulation and if it's happening to her puts a stop to it, not to keep hoping things will change b/c this is fiction and he will not change. Get out.

“It's too savage.
It's too beautiful.
It's us.”

This book is HOT AS HELL!
Redix talks the talk and walks the walk!
Good lord, that man is so dreamy!! 🥵🥵

Cade is a bad a$$ b*tch! She’s no damsel in distress! She holds her own. She doesn’t need a man to protect and take care of her. I love a strong main female character!!

The chemistry between Cade and Redix oozes from the pages. I could feel every emotion.. the pain.. the love… the heartbreak. These characters take you on a rollercoaster of emotions!! You can’t help but root for them, but there are so many obstacles keeping them apart.

Childhood sweethearts turned enemies to lovers… my favorite two tropes rolled into one!! ♥️♥️

I loved the Mystery/ Suspense aspect of the story. Cade is a detective who is on a mission to crack the unsolved SA cases that keep pilling up. She soon realizes those cases lead back to their (Cade & Redix) past. I’m dying to know what happens next!! I cannot wait for the next book!!

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2.5-2.75 stars. This had promise. Plot and combining sexy with mystery was a good storyline that kept me wanting to read. But sex scenes come across like they are written by a man and they weren’t very sexy just kind of mechanical after a while, there’s probably 100-150 too many pages of just filler that doesn’t help the story, and I just read that now the hero is going to start sleeping with another man in the next book after pledging her entire life to a different man. I don’t know. Doesn’t make sense.

Sergeant Cade Bryant is a certified badass. She's the law in this part of the world. She helps women. She's empathetic. She's compassionate. And she's never gotten over, (or forgiven), her only love, Redix Dean, the man who left and never came back. Now he is back though, and strolling around as if he owns the place. In this game of wills, is Cade going to prevail? Or her soulmate, Redix?

OK, I have to admit, I wasn't sure anyone, any couple, any heroine, could top Charlie and Daniel (of the Come for Me series), but Cade has actually done it. I absolutely love her. She's a contradiction in terms - tough and strong, but soft on the inside. Soft for the people she serves and protects, but tough to those who bring trouble and evil to her territory. She and Redix practically blew up my Kindle with the flames of their feelings. There was love and lust, pain and and anger, all tied up together and I was dying the entire way through, knowing it wasn't going to end with a pretty bow, and it didn't. Now I'm waiting very, very impatiently for With Him: A FMM Suspenseful Love Menage,. I have to know how if these two ever get the second chance I'm dying for them to have.

After Him by Kelly Finley
All for You Duet #1

Dead man talking from the grave.
Did he deserve to die and if so…why?
What part did he play in creating distance between soulmates?

Soul mates from childhood
Separated by dark events
Will they find their way back to one another and if so, how?

This was an intense, steamy, emotional journey for Cade, Redix, and for me as I read their story and willed them to a happily ever after ending, but as is true of books in a series…it might take more than one book to achieve that happy ending for Cade and Redix.

What I liked:
* Cade Bryant: ex-model, police sergeant, only child, made a pact with the devil…or was it with god, loves one man eternally, suffers without her soul mate, strong, resilient, capable, lethal, communicates well, tenacious, does what it takes…and then some
* Redix Dean: ex-model, move star, sexy, strong, caring, protective, addict, alcoholic, adored by women, cares deeply, seems a bit lost, grows quite a bit in this story, loves one woman eternally, hopes for a second chance
* The strong bond between Cade and Redix despite the issues they face
* The look at the emotional impact on Redix and Cade and how that one dark event impacted them both in different ways
* The tie-ins and hints about characters from the Come for Me series
* Cade’s parents: divorced but still together, strong, caring, capable, and there for those they love
* The thread dealing with missing women and how it is being worked out by the police – do hope they catch all the culprits
* The plot, characters, and writing
* Silas, Jameson, Penny, and other supporting characters…wonder if we will see and hear more about them in the future
* Feeling that Redix and Cade are well matched – do hope they find their way to a HEA by the end of book two.

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The pain that both main characters went through
* Knowing that the evil in this story is all too real

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the first in a duet, and my word, what a mindblowing tale this is. Redix and Cade destined to be soulmates, until one tragic night and he lied, tore them apart, and Redix moved to LA without a word. Redix is now an ex-model, movie star, strong, caring, protective, and an addict, while Cade is an ex-model, and now police sergeant. Redix is now back for a charity event, but can they overcome the past? This is a well written story which is fast paced, and emotional roller coaster, and is dark, raw, gritty, with secrets, heartbreak, action, angst, second chances, drama, suspense, intrigue, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and heartwrenching page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This was another page turning read from this talented author.
From her very first book she has kept me on the edge of my seat desperate for more.
This book was no different.
Be prepared to hit with bombshells galore and secrets that will tear you to shreds, and we don't even have all the pieces yet.
I'm not going to comment on characters because of events during the book.
It's actually best to go in blind.
Although I'm hesitant about the next book, I still cannot wait because of NEEDING to have the full picture.
Yet again the author has ensared me and you'll be missing out if you don't one click.

This author has done it again! Ms. Finley hooks you in with an intriguing storyline filled to the brim with so many different aspects that as soon as you unravel one thread another is revealed. She reels you in until the very last page, taunting us with who the attacker is and what will happen between Redix and Cade—I loved every minute of it!

Cade Bryant is such a strong young woman who defends other young women fiercely. Her only true love hurt her so deeply that seeing him again is like opening up all of her wounds again and zapping her strength and determination. Cade is, without doubt, a remarkable character and one who stamps a bit of herself on your soul.

Redix Dean is truly the definitive tragic hero, his past has caused so many issues for him. Now, he is determined to move on, to be stronger and more focused but being near Cade is so hard for him—and her. To be honest, I take my hat off to Cade for not wanting to hit him over the head with a baseball bat, 😀 but their friendship and love still shines, it just needs a bit of a polish.

The story is told from both lead characters’ points of view and this gains readers the opportunity to not only know more about Cade and Redix but also important background information too. Just what happened ten years ago to them and involved two others, is a mystery that pulled at me and my emotions. I’ll just say that when this author creates ‘bad characters’ she does it so well!

Apart from the serious elements, and they are dealt with extremely well, there are some humorous scenes and banter. Like Cade saying this to Redix, “Then don’t let the door hit ya where my bullet can split ya.” 🤣
Then there is the sexy as sin chemistry between them, their passion is almost flammable it is so hot.

I absolutely love how Cade reacts and responds to the female victims after they were assaulted, everything she says makes sense but it’s more—she clearly helps each young woman. I love the slight crossover with her previous series too, it doesn’t matter if readers haven’t read it though.

There’s so much action, drama, and suspense in this fast-paced story that you find yourself going ‘oh, I’m halfway through already?’ The emotive descriptions are on point making it easy to visualize each scene, especially the heartbreaking ones. After Him is that intensely absorbing and now I am patiently waiting for the second half of this All For You Duet. (Or trying to be patient might be more accurate.🤣)

OK, so a quick disclaimer before I begin this review. I was part of the beta team for this book, and I want to tell you that even in its early forms, the story that Finley tells in After Him was brilliant. Now, in its finished form? Sheer perfection.

(also - Bucket List Item: be mentioned in the acknowledgements of a book - CHECK! 😊)

After Him is the first book in a duet, which is a format I love. We are in the same world as Finley's Come for Me series, which made me very happy because she did such a tremendous job of creating that world in her previous books. This time we are introduced to Redix and Cade. These two were childhood friends, high school sweethearts, soulmates, each completing the other. Then in one horrible night, it all went wrong.

Now, a decade later, they grudgingly find themselves back in each other's lives. Each are battling their own demons and dealing with past traumas in their own way. What happened to tear them apart? And will they be able to overcome all that history and find a way forward together?

With After Him, Finley once again proves that she is a brilliant storyteller. I have read all of her books and each one is better and stronger than the last. She can craft the most powerful, vulnerable, and exceptionally strong women who are taking charge of their lives and taking no shit in the process. And she writes men with so much more depth than your typical romance novel leading man. With her words she will take you through all of the emotions, and will wring everything out of you before finally putting you back together again. She writes steamy scenes like none I've ever read before, and after this you will never look at Lemonheads the same way again. Told in a dual POV, this second chance romance is led mostly by Cade, and we hear Redix's voice through a series of journal entries that are all letters to Cade. I am a sucker for an epistolary format, so I was delighted to discover this device being used in this unique way.

I mentioned that this is the first book in a duet. One thing I really appreciated about the end of this book is that it does not leave you dangling off a cliff, like Wile E Coyote before he plummets to the bottom of the chasm. Instead, Finley leaves us at a perfect moment, waiting to cross the bridge to book two. And you won't have to wait forever for the conclusion, because With Him releases in just two weeks!

If you've never read one of Kelly Finley's books before, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Definitely check out her Come for Me series in addition to this duet. You can thank me later.🙂

Wow. I'm not sure where to start.
Kelly Finley is a new author to me.
I found this book rec on Tiktok, and usually, I shy away from those because too many are letdowns. After Him did not disappoint!

I will admit I almost DNF'd this book right out of the gate. I do not usually like a brazen or brash heroine. In the first few chapters of this book, that's exactly what we got. The hero was a bit of an alphahole as well. Until he started his journal, and I saw another side to him. It was obvious he covered his pain and insecurity with assholish behavior. It seems the heroine was the same way. I was happy to see a softer side of both of them while still seeing an independent heroine that could defend herself.

I loved the tragic backstory of this couple. I loved their history - the innocence and discovery of first love. I also loved the explosive heat between soul mates who were separated for years and still full of pain, anger, fear, and love. I loved...I mean LOVED...the tension and the chemistry between Cade and Redix. So few authors these days can write tension and chemistry and build the heat between characters, however, Ms. Finley nailed it.

I also loved the suspenseful criminal side of the story. It added another layer to the story and kept the pages turning.

A few things kept this from being a 5-star read for me, though.
First and not a huge deal...there was some odd verbiage that was a bit bizarre. It just took me out of the story for a few moments when it would happen. It was only a few times, but enough that it left me scratching my head.

Also, through most of the story, this huge secret loomed over the characters - what really happened one night when Cade and Redix were 18. I was DYING to know! I had suspicions, but when the reveal happened, I was slightly disappointed. I feel like Redix's reasoning for leaving was a bit drastic. I'm not trying to make light of a bad situation, it just seemed tame for all the pain it caused. It's hard to say more without giving spoilers.

And the final thing that irked me was all the chances she gave him. I mean...a girl has to have some respect, you know. I get the boy had issues, but come on! Make the man grovel just a little!

As this story is ongoing, I'm curious to see where the second book in the duet takes us. I was extremely happy with this one, but I'm glad I only have to wait a short time for book 2! I would highly recommend taking a chance on this story and this author!

Goddess! This book! I feel like I've been drug around from hither and yon. I'm bruised and broken and I'm not entirely sure I've been put back together.

I absolutely LOVE Cade! She is the badass that I've always wanted for a bestie. Like, she would know just how it hurts when life kicks you while you're down and bleeding but she also will hunt down and unalive anyone who hurts those she loves.

Redix is all of that tortured man that women like me are so sure we can fix but somehow we really never can. He had it all, lost it all, got it all back again, but it's just not what he needs.

The fact that these two are obviously soulmates, perhaps star-crossed, takes this story to a whole different level. It's not a simple tale of friends to lovers to enemies to lovers. It drags you through a whole gamut of emotions that I assure you that you are NOT ready to process.

There's sort of two storylines going on, it felt like. Cade & Redix and then the mystery part. I know that they're intertwined, but I felt like I was getting a double feature. I'm not at all mad about that.

It's romance, angst, mystery/suspense, tangled web, action. Thankfully, though this is the first book in a duet, the author didn't leave me dangling off a cliff in a chokehold. Am I waiting to see what happens next? Hell yes! However, it wasn't one of those type of cliffhangers that makes you want to throw your Kindle across the room. It's a nice transition.

This book grabbed me right from the opening paragraphs and what appears to be a homily from a dead man that is almost a thank you to his killer. Who was he? What did he do that justified his murder? Who killed him?

After Him is an angst filled but equally steamy tale of first loves and only loves separated by a dark, brutal attack. An act where the repercussions were still being felt years later. In the aftermath the hero Redix ran all the way to Hollywood and stardom, cutting the heroine out of his life completely but found solace in drugs and alcohol. The heroine Cade abandoned by the man she thought would love her forever stayed on their island and became a cop, slowly plotting her vengeance the men responsible. When Redix returned after ten years he said he was back to make amends or was he back to torment Cade. Both characters are damaged and have been left unable to move on from that night probably because Cade doesn’t have a clear idea of what actually happened and Redix flat out refuses to discuss it. I really didn’t like the character of Redix to begin with but as the story progresses you can feel his pain. I did love Cade. She was such a bada$$ but Redix was her Achilles heel and a part of me was shouting forget him, he doesn’t deserve all the chances you keep giving him and let’s face it, she did have other options. There is such fantastic chemistry between them you can almost feel the steam rising and with a plot that is full of twists and turns this book was another five star read for me.

Did the man at the beginning deserve what happened to him? You’ll have to read After him to find out. My lips are sealed

Wow what an amazing story. Cade and Redix went through so much through the years. This book has me balling my eyes out more than once. You feel all the emotions with this story. Cade is a ball buster sassy heroine who Will take no bull from anyone and when the man who broke her heart comes back in her life she has to face her past head on. Redix is just so damn good looking and got so many hidden layers and sweetness. But watching Cade and Redix rehash all their history and try to find a new path forward was an absolute rollercoaster ride of emotions. Moments of laughter, heartbreak, anger and love then back to anger again. The thing is they have so much in so much history it gets away with the fact they’re soulmates they’re meant to be together but they just have so much history it keeps getting in the way. But once they get past that they think they’re in the right direction then they get the curveball thrown their way their life gets thrown upside down and just stops them in their tracks. But that has the saying goes love does find a way. They do find their way to be together happily ever after…. Almost until the very last page and the curveball was thrown. We need to see how it will be fixed after everything they have been through together that can’t be what breaks them.

A gripping storyline, compelling relatable characters, suspense filled. This book was amazing! I just keep falling more and more in love with these characters wanting more and more of their stories. I’ll never get over the powerful women and their strength. The secrets and hurt Redix hold throughout the story is heart wrenching. The love he has for Cade is undeniable. Cade is beautiful and strong and knows who and what holds her heart, love and revenge. This sick twisted men in this book are so real is mind numbing thinking this is out in the world everyday. I wish we got a little more development from some side characters. But I have a feeling knowing Kelly Finley and the way she rights they will come back later in other stories. The ending had me gipping the bed!! I need more now!! What a cliffhanger.

It took me a while to decide how I wanted to write this review because this book is very unique, in the best possible way. It’s like it’s two different stories combined into one, but both sides intertwine and thread together the more you read. On one side you have friends to lovers, the perfect love, that’s torn apart by tragedy, that takes a turn into enemies to lovers. In this part of the book is where we see Redix the most and his work towards redemption with Cade and life in general. The the other part of the book is all Cade and her coworkers, where they work to solve a bunch of cold cases, while Cade seeks revenge. This book has everything anyone could want in a book. It has twists, turns, suspense, drama, and all the steam. It is a one of a kind ride that everyone should experience! AND you don’t have to wait forever for book two either!

Kelly Finley creates unforgettable characters. Redix and Cade will suck you in and won't let go. There is so much to love and hate in this story. It is absolutely an emotional rollercoaster. A beautifully written, realistic romance that isn't easy. There are several difficult issues involved in this journey. Finley is a master at creating the delicate balance between love, hate, pain, loss, joy, and redemption. The case Cade is investigating is another aspect that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. And ohhhh the steamy sexiness! It kept me fanning my face and made those moments I wanted to chuck my Kindle into a wall even more intense. I cannot wait for the next half of this stunning duet!

My heart is still spinning after finishing this book. At times I didn’t know if I wanted to scream at Redix for running, to stay and fight his demons or hold him for because of the reason he was running. So much pain at the hands of these miscreants. But the ending! I need to the next book now.

Cade Bryant and Redix Dean have known each other since they were nine, and have been in love almost as long. They are soulmates, meant to be, until a trio of monsters shatters their world and rends them apart. Cade vows revenge, and Redix flees to California. While Cade devotes herself to law enforcement, Redix reaches heights of fame as a movie star while trying to drown out the memories of violence with drugs and alcohol. Ten years later, Redix is back, ready to reclaim Cade and his life, but until both of them can put the evil events of that awful night behind them, love may not be enough to save them.

Cade and Redix are like real people to me now, and I think about them often. Their love story is bold, sexy, tragic, angsty, and mighty. Kelly Finley’s writing is powerful and emotional, the characters and events so real, that After Him reached in and clutched my heart and wouldn’t let go! The love story, the mystery of what happened that night, the evil that’s still festering even as Cade and Redix find their way back to one another all make for the most gripping, compelling story I’ve read in some time. The characters, the world building, and the narrative are all on point, and Cade and Redix’s will be branded on your heart - after Finley shatters it and pieces it back together with pure finesse.

Truly - read After Him. It’s a beautiful, epic love story you’ll never forget - a MASTERPIECE that will leave you breathless and craving more. Let me know if you read - I’d love to discuss!

I loved loved loved the first half of the book. Even tho i didn't agree with alot of character's decisions, it flowed really well and i was really engaged with the story.

The writing of this author was so good!! This is my first time reading this author's work and i am absolutely in love with their writing style. I read it all in a day or two and can't wait for the next part in the duet.

I loved Cafe's character. She was head strong and really determined. Her character introduction is one of the best i have read in recent times. The confusion, the thrill, the writing, everything hooks you into this angsty fast paced, steamy romance at first glance.

Redix is a complicated character for me. His decisions aren't my favourites and his character arc was kind of butchered with a few editing mistakes imo. I still loved him tho. He was so in love with Cade, willing to do anything, give anything just to protect her. Their love was so sweet it made me feel single so badly.

I didn't however agree with the stance this book took with cheating. They kind of made it seem that cheating is not that big of a deal and people who got hurt by it aren't actually in love with their partner. That part put me off.

Otherwise this was an enjoyable read with alot of smut, angst, thrill and romance.

Tropes in this book:
•second chance
•enemies to lovers
•actor hero
•cop heroine
•angst

Trigger warnings: there are alot of them but idk if they count as a spoiler.

A thrilling mystery with a rocky second chance romance that will have you on the edge of your seats wanting more!

He left her heartbroken years ago, on the cusp of stepping into adulthood and building a life with one another.
Then he disappeared from her life, not answering her calls, avoiding her at all costs.
He became a star.
He became a playboy.
He became a trainwreck and a Hollywood hottie.
Cade is building a life for herself after the tragic and fateful night that still haunts her, a secret and tragedy she and he both carry.
Now a respected member of the community and police detective, she was moving on from her heartbreak.
Until he came back.
As she is hunting down the horrible monsters who attacked her 10 years ago, as well as the evil men responsible for the assault of young women along with the disappearance of others, she now has to deal with her still sizzling hot ex.
Chances are given, reliving of old memories, betrayal of the things that were sacred and two badass parents, thr conspiracy of this little town and this explosive romance will have you hooked!

Loved it! I just want to grab the next read and find out what happens next! I mean, girl, Cade, I'm surprised you haven't punched him yet!
Plus, the food play is just spectacular!

I loved this book. I was sucked in pretty quickly. I like that the MFC was not a sappy person. She didn't take any crap from Redix or anyone for that matter. On the Flipside Redix wasn't an all badass no feelings kinda guy. He did show his feelings especially when speaking about his addiction and his love for her.

If you like romance with a lot of steam you will want to read this. I thought it was great I couldn't stop reading. It took 2 days, I couldn't put it down. All the time reading I thought what's next....

I love second chance stories when the MCs are meant to be but have to work at it to get there.

I don't want to give anything away. I don't like a lot of spoilers. Just know that the MCs are Bada$$ and vunerable, Sexy and Spicey, very much in love and finding their way back to each other. This book to me had the things I like, suspense, teenage sweethearts, torn apart, see each other feelings still there, obstacles.

But, did they get back together? You will have to read the book. You won't be able to put it down when you start reading! I can't wait to read more from this author!!

This book is about two people, Redex and Cade who were madly in love when they were teenagers until Redex left unexpectedly. Redex left for ten years until he shows up at a sponsor ball leaving Cade reeling with memories.

Review: This book was a cross between a sweet romance and smut. If it was just the romance I'd have rated it a five of five but then you have the very raunchy smut. I don't understand why authors want to let out their deepest darkest most vulgar fantasies in a book. It's quite disgusting.
This book had a sweet young love between Cade and Redex. The book goes through their memories and the hardships they've faced. It shows you how much they love each other and what their willing to do to fight for each other. It's sweet and heartbreaking. Personally I found Redex a toxic entity. He needs help. More help than Cade can give. All goey and touchy without Hallmark. But between this love story you have all the disgusting sex scenes. Yuck. Ruins it personally. I was really really wishing this was a sweet romance but the author chose to ruin it. It's a shame.

My rating is a three because it's decent. A decent book that was ruined by smut.

Intense, action packed, and full of twists and turns

This was my first book by this author & I can honestly say that I was NOT disappointed!!

Redix & Cade’s love story is so sweet yet so tragic. They were childhood best friends that turned to lovers at an early age. Their love was so sweet and innocent and their protectiveness for each other was so intense.

As tragedy strikes and they’re torn apart for years, it seems that happiness is not a possibility for either of them. Cade is the only woman that Redix could love, and Redix is the only man that Cade has loved.

As fate has brought them back together, they jump through many hoops and navigate many obstacles to try to be happy together. But even though fate has brought them back to each other, does fate have them destined to be happy for the long term with each other?

Cade is sergeant in the local police force and is on the hunt for the culprit of a series of crimes. *Trigger warning for sexual crimes*.

This is the first book in a must read duet, and I cannot WAIT for With Him. After reading the first chapter as a teaser at the end of this book, I’m on pins & needles.
