I’ve finally gotten a chance at happiness… but if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
I’m the kind of girl who knows the other shoe is always going to drop. So now that something is going my way, that shoe should show up any minute now.
Knox and I have reached a tentative truce and things with Bishop have never been better. But no one in the pack trusts me and they sure don’t trust me with their precious pack leaders. Especially the pack’s favorite bachelor Bishop.
What’s worse is Cyrus acting like my old alpha and me reacting like the old me. Fearful, afraid, feeling that gnawing instinct that tells me to run. And because it’s Cyrus, his betrayal cuts deep. Deeper than I want to show.
Other than Bishop, I don’t know who to trust, and if I can’t find my way into the pack, to find a place here, then my future is set. And it’s nothing good. I can’t leave because I’m bound to Knox. I can’t stay because I’m as welcome as mange.
Basically, I’m between a rock and a hard pack, and I’m afraid someone won’t wait for Cyrus’s permission and will send me packing… permanently.
Wolf Distressed is the fourth book in the Ensnared by the Pack series, an action-packed paranormal romance featuring possessive wolf shifters and a wounded heroine discovering her strength who doesn’t have to choose.
While I'm enjoying this series, I'm needing the FMC to either find her wolf or get help with her trauma. Or better yet both. There's not even a hint of her wolf that she notices, and it's 4 books into the series. And her misunderstanding EVERYTHING has me gritting my teeth.
3 stars, left with another cliff hanger. This story has Audrey under the spotlight in the town with Cyrus making things worse.
I am glad all the books are released as I would have given up long ago if I had to wait!
Unfortunately I am to the point where I skim the sex scenes as they kind of feel all the same. It’s better now that Knox is devoted to her but the author sent him hunting for a few days so we lose the progression of their relationship.
Peeve, why is Bishop gone for long periods of time, leaving Audrey alone? I understand the need for plot movement and Pack responsibility but the gaps are just too long for an excited and loving mate. It makes him look clueless.
This book is undoubtedly the best in the series thus far. The action, sensuality, and overall connection between the FMC and the twin brothers were all very well-written. I also enjoyed seeing Audrey finally come out of her shell. Bishop is definitely book boyfriend material. I eagerly anticipate the moment when Knox and Cyrus fully join her side.
WOW! Tessa really came for us with this one! As previously stated, I’ve blown through books 1-3 in a single day and immediately woke up this morning to download book 4. This series has a hold on me and I’m not ashamed to let it be known. These books are so good. A rejected mates why choose is exactly what I didn’t know I wanted. My favorite thing is how effortlessly the books blend into one another. In some series when you get to the next book a lot of information is repeated that takes away from the fantasy world you’re supposed to be, thankfully that isn’t the case. The only things that are repetitive , are necessary and lifelike. Audrey’s insecurities that have been beaten into her since childhood, everyone being leery of Knox and worried he’ll go feral again at any given moment, everyone being cautious of Cyrus, these are all things that give us further insight into the characters and let us know how those things make them who they are and how it drives their reasoning.
Wolf Distressed, omg such an apt title! I was absolutely in distress by the time the legendary cliff hanger came. I screamed at the characters so much more in this book than any of the ones before it. In this book the characters weren’t building bonds still and were more of themselves, plus the the brothers and Audrey were no longer traveling leading to the dynamics being wholly different. Cyrus…made me want to punch him several times and like Knox, I need him to get his head out of his butt. Audrey….our sweet baby angel, she frustrated me only because if she just talked to Bishop or even Knox and explained her past..she’d be better protected and understood. All in all a great book but I am going to go crazy waiting till February 😂. Guess I’ll have to check out Tessa’s other works until then!
WARNING! Cliffhanger! This one also rates a 5/5 on the trauma scale, so make sure that you’re ready for the next book!
Picking up from where book three left off, we find Audrey realizing that she’s being manipulated by that nasty former alpha of hers. This leads to the discovery of a link between them, which helps fuel suspicions about just how safe she is to the pack. It’s a tough time for Audrey, as she tries to find her position in this new world, while still dealing with the trauma of her abusive past and the conditioning she was raised under. Fortunately she has Bishop and Knox on her side, and a growing group of friends in the pack…
Audrey has been through so much, that it’s tough to see her struggling, especially when it’s not of her own volition. This book was tough in a different way, as her experiences make her retreat into the completely submissive person she was raised to be. It does bring to mind the thought that perhaps the original curse her pack used to stop them changing before the age of eighteen, was actually a way to prevent challenges to the alpha from other dominant wolves; a thought provoking idea to be sure! We get to see more of the new pack, and their lands in this book, and Audrey does get to make a few new friends, but it doesn’t all go quite as well as her alphas hoped.
This is not a standalone so only read if you’ve read the previous books in the series. If, however, you enjoyed those, or you like rejected/fated mates and RH fantasy, then this is an entertaining series set in an intriguing world.
I’m going to have to call it on this series. I felt like this series had great promise so I’ve been pushing through but this has gotten way to boring to keep going.
These books are short which I don’t have a problem with but they feel SO long. The inner dialogue is killing me. Audrey is WEAK we get it. The FMC is constantly belittling herself, and I get it, it’s likely for some amazing shift that’s going to come in book 6-7 or whatever. But, please get to the point!
In this book her a Knox decide to become mates for real; meaning he accepts the bond. But it’s out of nowhere. He goes from hating her to fiercely protecting her. It doesn’t make any sense. When authors skip character development it weakens the relationship. I’m not connected to Knox and Audrey as a couple because they have no connection.
I was waiting out because I wanted to see Audrey’s wolf and see what happens when she confronts her pack. However, I’m not going to make it. This series is dragging on and there are other stories who can give a good conflict resolution in a reasonable amount of time.
Dropped from a 4 star series to a 2 because we’re on book 4 and the FMC hasn’t made ANY personal growth. We took 1 step forward then 2 back and now I fear everything is going to be rushed. Last complaint is if Knox and FMC can feel each other’s emotions where was Knox for that ending, hmm? No bueno.
Edit For Series Completion Review: [Beware Spoilers]
This is barely a 3-star read. The word "heaved" is used so freaking much (22 times in book 3 and 28 times in book 6 as an example). That seems like such a small thing, but once you notice it you can't stop seeing it. I need synonyms please. The FMC doesn't actually show consistent, solid strength until book 6 - I DNF at 44% and she still didn't have a wolf and still hadn't mated her last guy. So my fears from book 3 were confirmed: The ending was rushed. The pacing of this series is terrible. The events are all pretty much filler, this could have been a trilogy and been better off.
By far the worst series I've read from this author and that is so disappointing.
More of Audrey’s submissive cowering over authority, Knox and Bishop trying to encourage her spirit and Cyrus being a jerk as he struggles with his own attraction to Audrey.
More attacks are in the air and the pack is losing guardsmen and civilians in horrific ways as we continue to watch Bishop’s sweet courtship of Audrey and Knox slowly coming out of his rough shell.
Okay series, but nothing I feel I should read again. Basically it’s hot and decently written wolf shifters and a girl from the mortal realm who focus on sex far far too much in-between trying to figure out what she could possibly bring if worth to stay with the pack.
As much as I hated the ending of book three this ending tops that one! That now aside I am still rooting for Audrey and getting all that confidence back. The love is so strong and beautiful I cried actual tears because of how much effort is put into it. Waiting for the next book will be agony but so worth it. There is to much left unresolved that book 5 probably won’t get it all and I’m ok with that because the story as a whole is wonderful. If you haven’t already read anything else by Tessa please do! She has the most beautiful stories.
If you're into self destroying & " I'm the victim " this series is ABSOLUTELY for you.. personally, I couldn't get past 4th books 4th chapter.. I was attempting to Keep an open mind etc... and.. CRASHED.. BURN.ED.. &. ITS OVER! I have read books from this author before and was a bit surprised on this series. No, Bueno.. I can't bring myself to finish.. * the only reason I went forward in series is; I wanted to know The :What. WHY, WHERE". But alas, i could not finish, no matter my personal curiosity. Happy Reading To You. All.
It was easy to follow along with this book without having to re read the previous ones. I really felt for the fmc. She’s been through a Lot and is still trying to find her feet. This one wasn’t as actiony as the previous ones. I loved the multiple povs. I had hoped at the end there she would shift. I hope she’s some badarsed wolf shifter that heals. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Anyone else love these books but hate the cliff hangers. Then, it’s forever before the next book comes out. Ugh! Otherwise I love her books. 4.5 stars only because of the cliff hangers and length of time between books.
I’m addicted to this series—even if I regularly want to shake the characters. I enjoy the worldbuilding that’s gone into this and we get to see more of the pack that Audrey is trying to find her place in. Unfortunately, bad things keep happening. Cliffhanger warning—this one is a doozy.
