WARNING! Cliffhanger! This one also rates a 5/5 on the trauma scale, so make sure that you’re ready for the next book!
Picking up from where book three left off, we find Audrey realizing that she’s being manipulated by that nasty former alpha of hers. This leads to the discovery of a link between them, which helps fuel suspicions about just how safe she is to the pack.
It’s a tough time for Audrey, as she tries to find her position in this new world, while still dealing with the trauma of her abusive past and the conditioning she was raised under.
Fortunately she has Bishop and Knox on her side, and a growing group of friends in the pack…
Audrey has been through so much, that it’s tough to see her struggling, especially when it’s not of her own volition. This book was tough in a different way, as her experiences make her retreat into the completely submissive person she was raised to be. It does bring to mind the thought that perhaps the original curse her pack used to stop them changing before the age of eighteen, was actually a way to prevent challenges to the alpha from other dominant wolves; a thought provoking idea to be sure!
We get to see more of the new pack, and their lands in this book, and Audrey does get to make a few new friends, but it doesn’t all go quite as well as her alphas hoped.
This is not a standalone so only read if you’ve read the previous books in the series. If, however, you enjoyed those, or you like rejected/fated mates and RH fantasy, then this is an entertaining series set in an intriguing world.
