Hannah is a bodyguard. She might not look like one but she’s the best of the best. When she gets a new assignment protecting the handsome famous actor Jack Stapleton, Hannah has to perform the role of a lifetime. Hannah must become Jacks pretend girlfriend so his family don’t suspect he has a bodyguard due to an unhinged stalker. But what is real and what is an act becomes blurred to Hannah and her job, her heart and her life is on the line.
3/5 ⭐️. A very cute rom com book. I could easily see this being made into a film. I read this book on one day, such an easy comforting read.
Of course there is always the unrealistic portions of these kinds of books. A few that were kind of annoying to me were - that Jack needs to be in therapy and a quick google search by Hannah is not going to fix his PTSD. I also thought that there could have been a few more scenes of Jack and Hannah actually getting to know each other at the beginning of the book, that would’ve made the book more believable and we all love a cute scene with a bit of banter, wouldn’t have hurt if there were more included.
All in all though was a very cute read, I was also surprised by the twist near the end, I didn’t see that coming at all. Would recommend as an easy read, particularly between other books or helping come out of a reading slump!
I had a hard time getting through this book. For a book about bodyguards I was hoping for more action but it really only picked up in the last few chapters. However, I did appreciate the “learn to love yourself” theme toward the end as I have personally felt unlovable and unwanted at times in my own life. If you go into the book with the understanding that it is a rom-com and definitely NOT an action story I think you’ll enjoy it more.
I picked this up at a used bookstore because of how much I loved Hello, Stranger. I was not disappointed by this book. It’s such a cute rom-com that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Sometimes I read a book, and it’s obvious the author made the plot happen- like things do happen like that in real life. I felt like this story was totally genuine. None of the plot felt forced to me or too coincidental. The people felt real and their actions and words were reasonable for their personalities.
This book was an absolute delight for me, even though it took me quite a while to finish reading it! It encompassed everything I adore in a romance novel: sweet and meaningful gestures of love, along with intricate details that resurfaced later on to create a beautifully crafted narrative. However, it lacked any sort of spice or intense moments that usually accompany such stories.
"And in the end, do you ever truly know for sure if you're lovable?"
"Love is something you do. Love is something you generate. And loving other people really does turn out, in the end, to be a genuine way of loving yourself."
This book was a great read. Humor and romance, a meld that was entertaining and enjoyable. Hannah is an incredible human being whom readers can identify with. We all question ourselves and how people view us. We have all gone through something, and Hannah reminds readers that it is how you choose to respond to those situations that can completely change the trajectory of one’s life.
This book was good, it was a quick easy read. The storyline was fine read it in a day so it definitely held my attention which was good. Ive been in a reading slump recently so it was nice to have this one to just reset myself. Worth the read will eventually pick Hello Strangers.
This is my first Katherine Center read and I absolutely ADORED IT. Written in 2020-21, her goal was to make it as light as possible. Mission accomplished.
Hannah Brooks is an executive protection agent. She’s excellent at her job, but is a workaholic who doesn’t know what a vacation is. She makes a deathbed promise to her mother to finally take a vacation. Unfortunately, she gets dumped and then put on security detail for a MOVIE STAR in the middle of nowhere Texas.
Jack Stapleton doesn’t want or need a bodyguard. He just needs to make sure his brother doesn’t kill him while visiting his sick mother. In an effort to minimize worry, he insists that Hannah pretend to be his girlfriend.
Nursing the loss of her mother & her broken heart must not get in the way of her job - because Hannah is a professional - and she absolutely WILL NOT fall in love with heartthrob Jack. So why is it that being around him makes her want to break all the rules?
This is a PERFECT romance. I laughed, I caught myself smiling, and I cried. If you need a light, heartwarming read, this is it.
