Devon's Discipline

Rate this book
Following the tragic loss of her parents, Devon Dawson has turned to alcohol as a way to cope with the grief and her college grades are dropping fast. Things seem to have hit rock bottom when she is called into the office of Professor Matthews and scolded like a naughty schoolgirl. The handsome professor informs Devon that he’ll be keeping a close eye on her and warns her that if he feels it necessary, he will not hesitate to spank her soundly.

It isn’t long before Devon ends up over Professor Matthews’ knee for a hard, bare-bottom spanking. But even though he treats her like a wayward child, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. It seems sometimes as if he can read her most intimate thoughts, and there is a mysterious, supernatural power about him which she cannot ignore.

With the help of his firm hand, Devon begins to put her life back together. By the time she realizes that she is falling in love with him, she is in too deep to turn back. She craves his touch and wants him to take all that she has to offer, but when she discovers the truth about him, she wonders if he will be able to protect her from his own dark desires.

Devon Dawson is an alcoholic, she has lost her parents and this appears to be her only way to cope. She feels as if she has hit the lowest of the lows and cannot do anything to be brought out of it. When Professor Matthews calls her into his office and scolds her like a naughty child, she finds herself craving the discipline.

Professor Matthews keeps a close eye on her and becomes a caretaker of sorts to her. There is a supernatural air about him but Devon cannot place her finger as to what. His firm yet caring attitude swept me around his finger.

Devon's Discipline is unlike most paranormal. There is a lot of build up with subtle paranormal. Raine doesn't overdo the aspect and I really enjoyed getting swept into a world of college, werewolves, and vampires. Great story!

I couldn't put this down once I started it. Never read anything by this author but this will not be the last book I read of hers. She has the ability to make her characters come right off the page and into your mind that you need to know more about them.
Devon has lost her parents and instead of dealing with her grief she drinks to the point it is how she deals with all the mistakes she makes in her life. That is until she takes a Supernatural class and meets her hot professor Matthews. As soon as she walks into his class , she is attracted to him but doesn't understand why.

Professor Matthews has a secret that he has kept to himself. Very few people know this secret. He takes Devon under his wing and makes her realize when you do something wrong there always is a consequence. That would be a spanking by the professor. Devon is a smart mouthed girl who doesn't think before she speaks and the professor gives her discipline. Devon realizes she craves this discipline. I think she does wrong at times just to get the professor to reprimand her in his special way. I love both characters because of how each need something the other one can give but it takes awhile for them both to realize this. Devon bares more than just her real self to the professor.

The more the professor takes care of Devon, the more feelings arise. The sex between them is awesome! It's almost animalistic at times with such a need that both want cured. But then there are times when it's take it easy and enjoy each other. A little bit of both is what I crave in a book and this book hits it exactly!

This book was all over the place with the h thought monologues, POV and jumping from topic to topic. I had to reread passages and go back cos things just didn't always make sense. No wonder the H got angry and annoyed. I kept thinking I missed something.
Devon was annoying to say the least, acted so immature even for an 18 year old and obviously had alcohol issues which no one seemed to help her with as well as grief issues.
Poor communication between factions and the H and h just added to the frustration.

Could have been good but wasn't....

Still felt the same on a reread though I think the h was perhaps 21 -22!

Devon Dawson lost her parents and turned to alcohol as a way to cope with grief. She shares a house with a wolf shifter who has some nasty friends. Professor Matthews takes an interest in her. He also happens to be a vampire. He spanks her to get her to work to her full capacity. As much as she dislike the spankings she feels cared for and turned on. I loved the history of vampires, and werewolves. Most of what we know about vampires and werewolves are based on movies and myths. This excellent book had many details, romance, violence and hot sex and many spankings.

There is nothing better than a spanking paranormal romance in my book & Devon's Discipline did not disappoint. I enjoyed the detailed paranormal history which made the story come alive for me. I'm a sucker for wounded heroines where the hero saves her and finds himself being saved himself.

Vampire and werewolves. Professor student relationship with spanking There were many moments the heroine got on my nerves. Other moments didn't seem to make sense to me such as Lucy getting Devon to drink. The book could have been fleshed out more. Not the best paranormal but not the worst.

This book was a departure from my usual genre. Power exchange and discipline are high on my list but Shifters and Vampires are not my customary indulgence. That disclaimer being made this was a super read. I enjoyed the angst and most especially Devon's challenge with accepting the intervention into her life that Professor Matthews provides. The idea of a human trying to alternately navigate between Shifters and a Vampire is very engaging, entertaining, and exciting. Ultimately, if you are a novice to such reading this a great starter in my opinion. As always Adaline Raine has created a winner with Devon's Discipline.

This is a short read or in my case listen to on audible books.

I liked the paranormal aspect of the story. The author did not throw that in your face but could have made the story a bit longer if she wanted to add me detail on the professor and the wolves but even without that, I found it pleasant to listen to.
Along with the paranormal there is a bit of kink or what some may consider kink since Professor Matthews has a bit of Dom in him and Devon seems to be drawn to him despite your rebellious manner.
Overall the story wasn't bad but I really could have seen this going a bit further.

Spankings galore

This story was good. Devon’s character was a little too whinny but still likable. I loved Don’s character. Luck, I did not care too much for. This book is super steamy and has spankings galore. Well done.

A not well-written and very weird spanking romance. The setting is kind of interesting. There are different kinds of supernatural species living in human society, but there are certain prejudices towards them. The story seems promising as the FMC (an innocent young woman who is facing some hardship) meets her professor (a vampire). However, the way the story was written was very confusing.

There are many paragraphs describing random things nonstop without making a point. The conflicts between characters are not based on logic, so do the chemistry. Some drama happens without a solid reason. For example, the FMC's roommate's animosity towards the MMC is not root in anything solid. It feels like an outline of a story without the building up of emotions. Also, As an erotica, most of the scenes are not spicy in my opinion.

I really don't know what to make of this book between Devon's awful best friend who seemed determined to ruin her life with her 'good' intensions to Devon's own screwed up attitude. She drinks to deal with her parents deaths but I really don't get the impression of someone in grief she doesn't even think about them. How does she even afford to go to college without a job? Devon is more like a snotty rich girl just asking for attention and Professor Matthews gives it to her in the form of spankings and eventually sex.
The plot is very weak with some supernatural drama thrown in with the werewolf students having some prejudice against the resident vampire with of course has nothing to do with Devon but naturally she almost gets killed by them twice. So do they face criminal charges or at least a beating from our story's hero? Of course not it was an accident! Then there is a werewolf family feud because they are all bat shit crazy except for the alpha who is not to blame for any of this despite being their leader.
This is just another way new adult books make college students look like idiots. Does Devon ever become independant? Nop. Professor Matthews basically becomes her keeper.
This book would of been a lot better without the werewolves. That way it could I don't know have actually followed the plot and focus more on Devon overcoming her grief and getting her life back together. The supernatural elements could have still been there but without the forced conflict between werewolves and vampires.
The only positive thing I can write about this book is that the erotic aspects were very erotic. If you want to read an erotic romance with a good plot than do not read this book but if you want to read it for the sex, spankings, and discipline than be my guest. It gets a 1 star rating for steamy sex scenes that could not cover up a poor attempt at plot that did not match the book's description.
