Martina Monroe #6

What She Found

Rate this book
A missing woman. A chilling connection to a baby trafficking ring. Will the Cold Case Investigators stop the killers before another woman is taken?

Martina and Detective Hirsch, still reeling from their last high-profile case, agree to reopen the missing person case of Sadie Jarreau, a friend of one member of the Cold Case Squad. At first glance, Sadie’s disappearance from the local marina looks like the typical unhappy marriage resulting in a deadly end.

But between the marina’s surveillance cameras malfunctioning that day, her husband’s air-tight alibi, and no one with a motive to harm Sadie, Martina and Hirsch are forced to consider a less common scenario - a stranger abduction.

As they pursue the possibility that a stranger took Sadie, Martina and Hirsch stumble onto a string of sinister crimes that occurred shortly before, and after, Sadie went missing. Digging deep into the case files of murdered pregnant women found on the Northern California Coast, with their unborn children missing, the team makes a terrible realization.

Whoever had been kidnapping young, pregnant women and removing their children before dumping their bodies in the bay - had not stopped. Now Hirsch and Martina must dive into the world of baby trafficking to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

Will they stop the killers before another woman is taken?

What She Found is the 6th installment of the page-turning and suspenseful Martina Monroe crime thriller series.

I have loved every book in this series but this is the best one yet. The story pulled me in from the very beginning and kept me engaged until the last page. The mystery was built in stages with the resolution to parts in different stages. The characters were dynamic and had complex personalities which added to my enjoyment of this book.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

This is the sixth book in the series. I was on edge hoping for a good outcome. I love the series and recommend the read.

Private Investigator Martina Monroe has teamed up with Detective Hirsch from the CoCo County Sheriffs Dept. to help solve cold cases. Five years ago, Sadie Jarreau went missing. She was the wife of a doctor and worked as a nurse. Her friend, May, is the sister of the girlfriend to Vincent from the Cold Case unit. He asks the team to look into her case as a personal favor.

Sadie and her husband had been trying to get pregnant without any luck and their marriage has gone stale. She fears he may be cheating but decides to surprise him at his yacht with some great news. She witnesses something she never could have imagined and disappears.

During the investigation, the team discovers several cases of missing pregnant women who are never seen again or are found dead without their babies. Is there a serial killer at work or is someone trafficking them? Can the team get to the bottom of these disappearances?

Investigator Martina Monroe and Detective Hirsch are handed another cold case to re-open. It is a case that has a connection to one of their team members, so it is a little personal, but not close enough to make it a conflict of interest. Of course, they want to do their best for him. It starts with a missing wife and as they dig deeper into the missing woman, the case turns into baby trafficking. Martina and Hirsch have to work their magic to get to the bottom of it. I love the Martina Monroe series of books. Each different story draws the reader right in. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Book#6 - Martina Monroe and Detective Hirsch are approached by the researcher analyst on the Cold Case team for help with a missing person. A friend of his girlfriend went missing from the local marina a few years ago. The surveillance cameras were not working on the day she went missing. They interview her husband and he didn’t know what happened. They interview her work friend and they discover that the couple was having marriage troubles. This immediately moves the husband up to being the main suspect. While they investigate the case, they stumble across several pregnant women who were killed and their babies were never found. So they believe they have a crime ring that is kidnapping women and selling the babies. The missing woman may have been a witness to someone being kidnapped and this maybe be the reason she was taken. It becomes a race to find the criminals and stop the ring from getting any more victims.

This is the fourth book in the Martina Monroe series that I have read. I'm confused trying to decide whether this is a romance set among law enforcement individuals or a police procedural sprinkled with an overabundance of gushy emotions. The characters aren't real: all of their partners, lovers, relatives are just "too" WONDERFUL All this testimony to wonderfulness gets in the way of the plot; or does the plot get in the way of the gushiness?

Best one yet!

Now I won’t ruin it, but the twists and turns in this one kept me guessing. I always want to believe the best in people, but this case was really different than the other cases. Hirsch and Martina take on a cold case suggested by a co-worker Vincent. Just when there seemed to be only stone walls, a clue leads them further into the case. This one was hard to put down!

Young women showing up dead. Babies gone missing. Can the cold case squad find what’s going on. Sadie has been missing for 5 years the cold case squad is looking into the case. Is her husband to blame or is something else going on. Another great Marina Monroe story. Looking forward to the next book.

Crimes to be solved law enforcement story that takes readers on a twisty journey. Multiple murders, multiple crimes, is there a connection? Several agencies join forces in an effort to resolve the tangle of both cold and active cases. What She Found is a book that will hold the attention of readers to the very last page.

Continuing to enjoy

Each book in this series is different. They all have the same theme of resolving old cold case files but the best part is that you don't have to read them in any certain order. They are just intriguing enough to keep you interested and look forward to the next edition.

I stumbled upon this book by chance, and I'm so glad I did. The narrative is beautifully crafted, and the way the author weaves the story together is simply brilliant. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, and I found myself deeply invested in the characters' journeys. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Great read!!

I found myself thinking about the characters. E specially the husband and his sister. I was surprised that no details about the other brother or the parents were not more involved in the story after DEA had moved in. All in all, I read this book and really enjoyed it. I'm ready for book 7!

What a compelling story. It was so sad and I wanted to cry at times. Especially if you get into your head, like I did, that this is something that could happen in real life. Hirsch and Martina did an excellent job of investigating this cold case. The last chapter put a big smile on my face when Hirsch and Kim finally wed.

Loved this book. Literally couldn’t put it down, even when I did I kept thinking about it and trying to find any spare time I could to read it! This mystery was her best one yet and I really liked the ending. I still am betting on Hirsh and Martina even with this ending 😏

What she found

I have been enjoying this series of mystery books. There are, I believe, 16 books and I intend to read them all. The family dynamics plus the work family relationships tend to make it hard to put these books down. Hope you live them like I do!
