He Makes the Rules

Rate this book
You’d do anything to protect your child…

Pushed into hiding,
Obliged to give birth in the shadows,
Ronnie Hudson is public enemy number one.

But how can she raise her baby in the darkness?
Can she even survive on the run?
Living in perpetual fear is far from the life she wanted,
But it’s better than the brutal truth that awaits
If the past ever catches up with her.

With this gothic and thought-provoking story, Elodie Crowe delivers a gut-wrenching dystopian future which reminds us that no one is safe until everyone is safe.

He Makes the Rules is the follow up to the Dark Origins, and the next in the Cowered series.

Elodie Crowe is a master at sucking you into the story and getting the story out of your head is impossible.

When I tell you that reading this was like living a nightmare, I mean it. I know it's a reflection of what's happening in the US right now, and my fears for the future, but this book had a huge impact on me. The story isn't finished yet, though.

This isn't a romance, although there are sexual elements, and it's dark. It's also captivating and I couldn't walk away from it. It was a one sitting read and I'm glad I didn't read it right before I went to sleep. It's not a horror story in the sense of murder and monsters, although Tom is a monster, but it's a horror story all the same. It's bleak, upsetting, and will evoke all the emotions. If you love gothic novels or the Handmaid's Tale, then you'll love this. Just be prepared for it to end on a cliffhanger; leaving you desperate to know what's going to happen next.

I absolutely loved every second of it and I can't wait to read more.

This world that Ronnie lives in is terrifying as Tom changes up the rules and woman have no existence its is mindblowing and so dangerous and sick all at the same time, I couldn't stop reading for a second needing to know what's coming next.

I think Tom has lost his mind the rules of the new world and the situations these woman are in are just I can't even believe it my mind is blown. I loved it though and I really can't wait for the next book to find out what happens.

Such great writing and strong characters and scenes that I could picture happening so easily.

Be prepared before you plunge into this frightening look at an alternate future.
The author pulls the reader DEEP into this world, the characters & the mesmerizing plot. The dark plot swirls around your mind & becomes all encompassing, I felt almost trapped & deeply impacted emotionally by the author's superb writing in this one.
I was compelled to finish this book in one sitting as I had to know what was going to happen next.
Intense. Dark. Frightening. Awesome.
I need the next in the series!!

The concept of this story is off-the-charts scary. A world run by misogynistic men who rate women's worth by their physical attributes makes me shudder. It was hard for me to read this, even knowing it was only fiction.

I read and reviewed a copy of this book.

I’m thankful that this is a fantasy. It’s dark alright.
As always there is a well written story with characters that you can ’see’.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
