“GOOD TIMES OR BAD, LET'S SHARE THEM OVER THIS BOWL."
Jiro, the “Ramen Wolf,” is devoted to his appetite. Seeing how happily he eats his meals, those around him cannot help but be happy as well. Even Kagetora, who was in mental agony when they first met, slowly but surely has started putting his feelings into words. He remains estranged from his brother, but as he spends more time dining out with Jiro, Kagetora’s complex feelings for his brother gradually become clearer. In the second installment of this heart-warming story, the hearts of humans and beasts alike connect through food.
Eh. I think it’s just disappointing because all the elements are there for this to be a real feel good series. But it is in desperate need of some pruning, restructuring, and… I don’t even know. A sense of purpose?
Interesting friendship between Tiger and Wolf, and their growing group of friends. The art is interesting, typical action, then lots of eating panels, then beef cake panels of the characters that I'm not sure how they fit with the story, but whatever, just here for the floof and Ramen.
I am hesitantly tagging "lgbtq" because there is an innocent "man-smooch" between two guys, which causes their girl friend (not "girlfriend") to have a classic Japanese "sexually aroused" reaction (sudden nosebleed). It's only sort of what I intended to have by the tag.
This is basically more of the same of book 1, which is great if you liked book 1. If you haven't read book 1, 2 is a little confusing, but not so much that it isn't possible to understand what's going on. (Harima is a little confusing, though, and I read the first book.)
Also, there's a hint of interspecies relationships, which is always... uh... touchy ground, but we'll see how that's handled in future volumes, I guess? (and a literal dick-measuring contest, though not in so many words, and only by the one guy)
this volume was unfortunately all over the place and lost some of the magic from the first. they don't even enjoy a full meal together until 3/4 of the way through...most of the chapters are some random backstory of a childhood friend bear (that, somehow, we really don't even get to know well even after multiple chapters of him), plus a couple of nude bathhouse panels that are starting to encroach a little too much into furry territory lol.
I feel like we ended up exactly where the first volume ended too, meaning circling back to tiger's brother without any resolution...or even progress in the conflict at all.
that being said, the ramen scene was heartwarming and delicious-looking. I hope next volume we get a lot more of that.

I hope we get Volume 3 sooner rather than later. This manga gives off the vibe of meeting a new group of friends and as you get more comfortable you open up about things. It’s a fun manga about 2 newish friends who love each other and try food but then you meet more of the supporting cast and everything just clicks. The art is beautiful and you’ll just find yourself drowning your eyes in each page. It’s cool that Seven Seas Entertainment and Yen Press localizes these mangas. They’re weird to normies because furry , but these stories not only have great art but a lot of heart.
Also it’s funny that it came out on my birthday last year and I’m now getting to it by buying it this year. Very serendipitous haha
I thought the first volume of this one was a bit "meh" with good art but a rambling, plotless story of two guys just eating food. However, as the first volume drew to a close it showed signs of deeper character issues for the tiger and I was compelled by curiosity to crack open the second volume.
I'm glad I did, as I think this is where the story starts to pay off, as we get tiger's strained relationship with his brother looked at and how that's impacted him in adulthood, along with a new character from wolf's past who's struggled somewhat when he studied abroad as a child. This is a series about the different forms love can take and we're drawn together, and I recommend it! Just know you might find the first volume a little slow like I did.
I love this series so, so much, I genuinely want 20 volumes ;-; The art is beyond gorgeous and I find the plot so leisurely, relaxing, and heartfelt. I genuinely care so much about all the characters. I spend a lot of time looking at each panel because the art is just so charming and well-drawn. This series is a hidden gem, for real!
The second book is as much worth as the first. Honestly it was more enjoyable with the new character and some glimpse of the past for some. Making me love it more while expecting the next impatiently. A real pleasure each time.
I loved this volume, but it also drove me insane. The two leads have so much sexual tension and chemistry, but this isn't a romance. Losing my mind. Still, this is such a cute read. Has great themes of friendship and family.
This series continues to be nothing but adorable. I love the backstory that we got with both of our main characters in this volume. It gave the story so much more depth for me, and I can't wait to see what else is to come for them.
I love seeing how much Kagetora had grown from spending time with Jiro! It really shows how being around people can change you and how they can enrich your life for the better 🥰🥰
