I made it clear to the world ain't nobody gonna be that somebody (Nomads – The Weeknd).

You know how whenever you look up a cooking recipe online and the article always has a bunch of extra fluff about the author’s personal life or just whatever random anecdote is on their mind? Yeah well, I’m going to take a page out of their (cook) book and do just that. This series is bleak. So bleak that the story's been stuck in my head on a loop all day and it's gotten to the point where I couldn't even sleep well. It's that bleak! So to get it out of my system, I guess I've got to talk about Killing Stalking (terrible title, by the way)! And I the only way I can really talk about it is by… not talking about it. Anyway, In 2020 and 2022, musical artist The Weeknd released two critically acclaimed albums called “After Hours” and “Dawn FM” respectively. Now, it’s no secret that The Weeknd has always been a controversial artist due to the many questionable lyrics peppered throughout his entire discography. Like most things, it's a matter of taste, and if I were to take sides, I'd have to say that I love myself some cilantro. Truthfully though, other than the fact that his music is catchy as hell, a lot of people gave him a pass because his music never felt like an endorsement of the lyrical content. The moody atmosphere and dissonance between what he's singing and what he sounds like gave off the vibe that he was entirely self-aware of his own toxic behavior. For example, his song “Heartless” is all about how he doesn’t need or care about anybody but himself and will always default back to his old ways (a common theme of his), but then in the song’s bridge, he sounds on like he’s on the brink of tears, legitimately questioning how and why anybody could love him. In his song "The Hills," the story is all about how he's having an illicit affair with another person and how there are absolutely zero feelings involved, but then at the end of the song, the outro has faint words singing "my love" and "my beautiful" repeated until the song fades out. I always found this interesting, because in the recorded version, this is sung by a woman, but in the live version, The Weeknd himself sings the words, implying that maybe he does have intense, hidden feelings for this other person. He's just too cool to admit it. It’s this dual nature and ambiguity that made him stand out from the rest and gave the music a little more flavor than if you were to just read his lyrics on a page. And if nothing else, it was just fun to dissect the lyrics.

And then, and then, and then… The Weeknd must have figured he could do it all, so he decided to try out acting in 2023’s The Idol. Which is a piece of shit show by all accounts, but it's important to note that he produced and starred in it. Hell, they even filmed most the episodes in his big ass mansion. It's his baby! I won’t get too into it, but let’s just say it was bad bad! But to me, the worst part of the show wasn’t his questionable wig choice or the constant jutting out of his chin in what I can only assume was an attempt to accentuate his jawline, my biggest issue was that it actually made me rethink his music and the intention behind it. Was he really trying to say anything at all? Or was he just throwing shit at the wall and letting his mysterious image hide the fact that there never really was anything of substance in the first place. It made me wonder if my interpretation, that his music is purposefully introspective, self-aware, and meaningful in its toxicity, was actually just me overindulging in artistic interpretation. All the shocking imagery, all the twisted sentiments, maybe it really wasn’t that deep? Well, if so, then that sucks. This is a review about The Weeknd, but really, it’s also about Killing Stalking and about a million other provocative things out there that I thought were doing something and then on a second viewing, I realized that I was probably giving them too much credit. Maybe this means I’m too fragile, but I think Killing Stalking is too much for me. Addictive, sure, but for me, it's becoming nothing more than a sequence of awfulness and helplessness and upsetting imagery and it’s actually making me feel genuinely shitty. That probably means this is a good place to stop. See? Never let it be said that I don’t have some semblance of self-control! Of course, none of this will stop me from enjoying the things I enjoy for the simple enjoyment of enjoying them (like “Blinding Lights”), and I might even continue to read this series someday, but I think there’s something important lost when you realize that all of it might have just been shock-value. I have to wonder at what point are we just putting words in front of other words until the whole thing becomes less an artistic venture and more of an exercise in tedium, devoid of its original meaning and intention. I mean, who's to say if there even was intention and meaning behind it in the first place!

Genuinely one of the most dark and disturbing series ever written/drawn !! This volume was heartbreaking, soul-shattering… Poor Yoon Bum 🥺 everything he has been through explains why he is so attached to Sangwoo.

How are this very fucked-up pair going to deal with having a dead body on their hands? The police are starting to get suspicious of Sangwoo, but will he able to manipulate and lie to them forever?

I absolutely want to read on, but I highly recommend to only read this series when you are in a good headspace. Honestly, Killing Stalking is psychological horror at its darkest. 💀🔪

That...was actually so fucking sad and heartbreaking. I didn't expect to cry while reading a psychological horror...yet here I am. Probably because people like Yoon Bum really do exist and that's just not okay...

Really slow compared to last volumes so it was a little jarring, but we got more perspective from the detectives side and we finally got Bums history.(so sad)

The events of the last volume have left a corpse for disposal. Some family secrets are revealed that explain a bit of the bizarre behavior of these very messed up characters. And the police continue to circle about on their trail.

Still tense, still nauseating, but also starting to feel stretched out.

A little slower pace than the othe volumes but I think it was important to tell the things presented here.

We get more background on the main characters. That is pretty much the whole volume.

Other than that, the guys try to deal with the events that happened at the end of the last volume.

Still interesting.

A little bit slower than the previous two installments in terms of pacing. I wish the plot with the cop would pick up some, but Koogi is trying to build suspense so I get it.

Wasn’t a fan of the broom scene, not sure if that had some kind of underlying meaning? I kind of get what it meant afterwards, but it was still a bit strange.

I think Bum is feeling some guilt over what he did in the previous installment, but sometimes I question if he even really had a choice or if Sangwoo traumatized/brainwashed him into doing it.

One thing I like about this series is that it really makes the reader think and the way that Koogi builds suspense makes me want to continue the story. I have to know how this train-wreck of a “relationship” ends.

I just wish the graphic novels weren’t so expensive 😅 Literally pouring so much money into this series, just so I know how these psychos end up 🫠

I think this was the best volume so far, honestly.

But WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?

Like this is really ducking intense and disturbing and so incredibly dark, but I really like the story. It’s like watching an episode of Law & Order SVU, but through the eyes of a serial killer.

Every time I start reading, I think it can’t get worse… then it does.

Did I love it? Did I hate it? Will I be talking about it tomorrow? Yes. Yes, I will!

***One bedroom apartment overlooking the "River Styx" with central air***

Now I've already answered once for reading this and because it's a guilty pleasure I had to pick a place to stay in Hell. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with reading a little smut but THIS is on a whole other level that would take me months to explain because I'm still suffering from romantic delusions.

The thing is Koogi the author did this on purpose. She drew Sangwoo to be every woman's fantasy. I've been so conflicted while reading this because Sangwoo does a very good job of making you feel confused... emotionally. Now if given the chance I would just throw myself down the basement and break my own ankles because I don't like it rough (we can skip the bat) because at this point let's face it who doesn't want to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome (me raising my hand in the back).

The entire scenario, Yoon Bum stalks Sangwoo and Sangwoo is a serial killer. The relationship between the two is borderline insane with a splash of bipolar. Oh, and let me remind you, Sangwoo is not gay. It's the best line of the century since slice bread, and I will stick by it because it's hilariously true. Not judging just speaking facts.

I can't believe this will be on my record when I face judgement.

“You don’t have the right or the need to regret what you did. You never had a happy past. You were ridiculed and bullied all your life. And now you’ve escaped that life… Because for the first time, you did something for yourself. Congrats, Mr. Murderer.”

3,5/5!

Yoon Bum has killed Oh Sangwoo's most recent kidnapping victim. While Bum continues to descend deeper and deeper into Sangwoo's twisted world, Seungbae is determined to solve the mysteries surrounding multiple disappearances and figure out how Sangwoo is connected to all of this.

This series continues to be interesting, delightfully fucked up and creepy. I think this might've been my favorite volume in the series so far. I liked seeing more backstory for Bum and glimpses of Sangwoo's past. It's not surprising considering this series that everything we learned made things even worse and more twisted, but honestly, I'm here for it. What we got from their backstories revealed a bit more of why our two leads are the way they are, which is always great.

Sangwoo and Bum's relationship continues to become worse and worse every issue. I like how the author depicts Bum's obsession and how he swings from fearing and hating Sangwoo to desiring him and not wanting to be without him. I find stories of obsession - whether it be towards a person or something else - very interesting.

I wouldn't want to just read stories like this - I am more of a wholesome content girlie - but every now and then reading something completely bonkers and horrible is kinda fun.

I'm definitely intrigued to see how volume four ends this series!

I’m so in love with this manhwa series it’s insane! I adore the two main characters Oh Sangwoo and Joon Bum, their dynamic is out of this world, I’m obsessed!

I’m so glad I finally picked up the third installment to this series, I could not put it down for even a moment, the illustrations are so captivating and perfect, just like the story. I can’t wait for the fourth book to come out later this month!

Okay, so, tenemos a un policía investigando bien a fondo.

This is my least favorite volume so far due to some scenes that I found far too uncomfortable. The first two volumes are depraved, but even I have my limits. I am going to buy the next volumes that are out once I'm done with finals because I need to celebrate with some more Killing Stalking.
