Just not a Batman book that works for me. S/o to my roommate, who lent me these 3 issues and was actually willing to spend money on this series when I wasn’t.

Recommended for anyone who like’s Jock art though, you’ll probably love this. And at least the Bill Sienciewicz cover is gnarly!

3.5 stars. Decent enough ending to an overall decent story. The best parts was when Bats was in the sewer trying to deal with a major threat down there. The story started off really great but the second and third issues dropped just a bit in quality. But still a solid story.

Sunrise

story: In the third issue of "Batman: One Dark Knight" the hero finds an old foe lingerin in the sewers on his search for E.M.P.. Vasquez takes Brody to the Blackgate Bridge, awaiting the Dark Knight. The journey is about to end but it's always darkest before the dawn...

rating: The ending of Jock's Black Label title approaches with big steps. Upon rescueing E.M.P. from one of his nemesises Batman is confronted with Vasquez who really carries the ending. Her desire and motivation are finally revealed and show us how far people are willing to go for revenge. That is a pretty neat idea however it is executed abruptely. No extra line, no space for to many emotions (There are some of them and you can feel them but it really isn't a whole lot). IMO the ending went way to well and smooth. Jock could've taken more time for this to unveil. The art however is on point again. It really fits the disorted and chaotic feeling of Gotham in "One Dark Knight". Everthing is moody and bloody, kinda reminds of "The Dark Knight Returns". Really enjoyed this art style and would appreciate a more layed out run of the author.

Nice mini series that we got here. Maybe the ending was a bit too cozy to my taste, but it was a fun run with a lot of action and a decent enough plot overall. Good one!

Desde el momento y circunstancia más oscuro para Batman, Jock remata su miniserie Black Label del personaje asumiendo que poco o nada podía sorprender a la hora de tener que atender a una conclusión emocional bastante vacua del descubrimiento familiar del aparente antagonista de la historia en un tramo y modo que quizás merecía haber sido el punto de vista total de la historia. Por supuesto One Dark Knight entra en un espacio quizás bastante apetecible para la editorial, de ligarlo a la versión cinematográfica de Matt Reeves. Pero aunque se agradece esa participación testimonial de uno de los villanos recurrentes de Batman de índole más "monstruosa", esto se sigue amoldando a una narrativa de "realismo sucio" que no alcanza ese pretendido estatus de gran obra alternativa actual del personaje.

This issue seemed very rushed. All the buildup in the last 2 issues comes to a boring climax.

You get the croc who is defeated in a jiffy. Pretty useless angle to add him.. Vasquez who seemed like an interesting character till now is caught using the oldest trick in the book.

If you like seeing pretty artwork and not reading the stories, this is right up your alley.

Mediocre run which I am glad I did not spend money on.

This might go down as one of the most underrated Batman vs. Joker battles....EVER! I think it is spectacular but I just don't hear enough fan talk about this epic encounter. I have never felt the Joker was the greatest villain but others continue to write epic stories like this and make me reconsider my stance! Some of the Greg Capullo pages here are treasures that need to be saved in a museum and Scott Snyder weaves the most horror driven Joker story possible....in my opinion! I feel this stands there with the Killing Joke, but has more twists, turns and pages making it a wildly entertaining story. Anytime you are reading and you find yourself reading the words slower to make sure your not missing another twist it tell you that the writer has weaved a masterpiece! And I would be remiss without giving Jock props for his beautiful panels. Maybe one of the few artists I don't mind splitting duties with Capullo! MUST READ for Batman and Joker fans alike!
