Lives Intertwined: Book 2 of the Agent Orange Trilogy

Rate this book
“The best book I have read in a long time!” Theresa Dodaro, author of The Porcelain Doll and The Bayman’s Daughter.

The old man wasn’t always old. He was barely 18 when he was drafted and sent to fight for his country. After a decade in an army at war, his instincts were finely tuned. Kill or be killed. But instincts don’t fade just because the war ends or even because you grow old.

Ashley England is a DNA analyst tasked with identifying the serial killer known only as the Vigilante Virginian. Using a combination of forensic genealogy and sheer determination, she is dead set on ending his reign of vengeance. When her investigation reveals far more than what was expected, the effects ripple across two continents and multiple lives.

From the long-ago battlefields in Vietnam to the modern-day laboratories of the California Bureau of Investigation, Lives Intertwined weaves an emotional family saga with a murder mystery that is better left unsolved.

Kaylon Bruner Tran, PhD is best known for her medical research studies which are primarily focused on endometriosis and preterm birth. When her sons were little, she was annoyed that so many cartoons included an evil scientist and made up stories about good scientists to tell them at bedtime. Time Intertwined was inspired by events in her family and she thought it would be the only novel she would ever write. However, the one book has become a trilogy and she has decided to keep writing novels. She has also published numerous scientific manuscripts and several non-fiction essays. Now that her sons are in college, she is cooking less and writing more.

The first book was a voyage of discovery and hope. It brought the reader into a world that hardly anyone ever thinks about-----the impact of war and the loss that it causes, and reaches far beyond the lines on the battle field sometimes for generations. This book, the second book, carries the impact through not just the physical carnage, but the psychological harm that can come with it for the soldiers, their families, the population of a war torn country and unintended victims ---the children who suffer the consequences.
This book is well written and historically accurate, two sticking points that can make or break a read for me. Obviously, it is scientifically accurate. What more can you ask for? Its all there; joy, sadness, hope and discovery. If you read this and dont feel those emotions, check your pulse. I for one am ready for the next book.e you know I love Historical nonfiction and I don't have much time to read.

good second book

This book had a lot of the same people as the first book, but with a completely different twist. DNA plays an important part in this book too. Now to read the final book in the series.

Lives Intertwined is book 2 of the Agent Orange Trilogy.  It shows the impact of war, both physical and psychological, of not only those fighting the war, but also of others, including children.

This story kept my interest from page one. Author Kaylon Tran has a way of writing that makes the reader feel like they are there and needing answers for the characters.
