So I read a book since I liked the cover and I kinda regretted reading it, so hear me out I've been on a quest to select any book just to help with my reading slump and I enjoy what I'm doing cuz I'm in suspense but this book . But this book … man was it cringy that I don’t how to feel about it Let me summarize……
1.Heroine is a doormat. 2.I tried skipping the sequences with the heroine's best friend (Chelsea), but she's in the majority of them, so yayy for me. 3.The heroine's refusal to tell her best friend that she is dating her elder brother is truly silly, and this is why Chelsea is annoying because her justifications for them not being in a relationship are petty and selfish. 4. This book is extremely cringeworthy. If you wish to read it, keep in mind that the sex scenes are behind closed doors.
Sooo 😆….I won’t carry on reading Chelsea’s book cause I couldn’t handle her
Safety gang: - No OW/OM drama - No cheating - D*ath of a loved one - Parental neglect - HEA
First off the main reason I was initially interested in this book was because I loved the cover but after reading the synopsis and the fact we would be getting a forbidden love I was even more intrigued.
We meet Shay who is dealing with the loss of loved one and her growing feelings for her best friend's brother who she has known for 16 years. She never thought he would ever reciprocate the feelings, but he has held a torch for her too.
Both are initially too scared to act upon their desires and feelings to make any moves or show any hint of attraction all because Shay's best friend and Loch's sister Chelsea would flip their world upside down. Let's be real: I was not the biggest fan of Chelsea. She was demanding and selfish. I didn't appreciate how horrible she viewed her brother when all he ever did was take care of her and showed kindness to not only her but to her best friend.
I loved Loch. He was the perfect boyfriend. He truly cares about Shay and always wanted the best for her and would do literally anything just to be around her. His devotion throughout the book was amazing to witness.
The author states that readers might find Shay annoying based on different reason but to be honest I really liked her character and (except for her grief) it reminded me of myself when I was her age. Her constant insecurities and believing she wasn't good enough etc. Which made Loch do everything he could to make sure she never had cause for doubt about how he felt.
Shay's mom was another character I was not a fan of. It hurt watching the scenes with Shay trying to reach her and what hurt the most was how uncaring she seemed. Let's not even start on her sister Logan lol we never got any resolution for her but I think that might of been deliberate for future books?
The end reveal about someone, and another side character was a bit of a shock - there was NO hint about anything prior to that reveal.
ALSO, that last bit of the sneak peek for book 2 (IYKYK) made me really intrigued on finding more about Chelsea and her story from the moment she finds out.
this book was okay, but I hate to say that it was a little forgettable. the 🌶 was extremely bland and repetitive and I just felt no connection to the characters' relationship.
the author makes it clear in her note at the beginning that the FMC is supposed to read as a little immature in this book as her character will develop more over the series, however, I never found myself really ever being that annoyed with her, especially when you consider that she's young and that this is her first love.
the MMC's sister on the other hand? completely different story. she really made the book unenjoyable for me. after reading the preview of the next book and seeing that it was really just one scene from this book from another character's POV (a scene that annoyed me to begin with), I'm not really interested in reading any further.
Starting off with thanking the author so so much for sending me a copy before the rest of the world sees this❤️. I just fell in love, the story reminded me of a cold day with a fireplace and hot chocolate. I was warmed from the inside whilst reading. Before we start, this book has many topics readers may finds triggering so please check beforehand and it has MANY explicit steamy scenes (like more than fingers on both of my hands) which not everyone may be into so also be cautious.
Okay, Shay was stupid but it made her so lovable and relatable . She got all the support she deserved as tragedy struck her young. She handled it so well and grew because of it. We read her bloom in front of our eyes. Later on, Shay made many decisions she may not of usually done due to her loving and supportive boyfriend Lochlyn. Oh man, I love him 🥰. And Im sure you will too. He radiates heat and masculine energy. He’s a tatted, responsible sweetheart. Whilst taking care of his younger sister, Chelsea (who I adore) and keeping her fed, he always loved Shay. Well before they both admitted it. Chelsea was definitely my favourite character and I can not wait for her book. I will not spoil anything even though I really want too 😂. She just wanted someone to love her. I really do love every single character.
The plot moved along quickly and smoothly. There were times where I was on edge but I just always wanted more. I continued reading and reading and reading. This best friends brother romance was like an experience. However I rated this 4 stars as I found nothing out of this world. It was as good as many things I have read. I also found the extensive amount of sex scenes repetitive towards the end of the book and skipped through a few pages. This is just my personal preference. These scenes weren’t dark but rather light and romantic. Maybe the fluctuation in types of scenes would of made them more interesting. I am saying this as light hearted criticism which doesn’t have to be taken into consideration as it’s my opinion.
I am excited what the future has for this world as there is so much I am hoping for. I wanted to say thank you again and happy reading. Hope you enjoy is as I definitely did. 💕
This was a cute book that fit perfectly into the forbidden best friend’s brother category. Here’s what I liked: ❤️ Loch was a great book boyfriend. He was patient and kind to Shay. I loved seeing them get together. ❤️ Loch and Shay’s first hook up. It was cute seeing the two come together especially since we knew how Shay felt about him.
There were a few things that I did want to see, mainly more conflict between our couple. Some things were very one note and could be repetitive (but I hear there is more angst to come which is great!!). Looking forward to book two!
Thank you Shayna for the ARC book in exchange for an honest review.
Ah, the drama and intensity of young love. I have to admit that multiple times during this book I thought, 'I'm so glad I'm older and wiser', but I do remember being that young and foolish, that dramatic and passionate.
What I like about this author's writing is that she casts people with real problems into romantic situations and what does that look like for these people who have these emotional/ psychological issues that they're dealing with. This book offers up growth opportunities for multiple characters, which is good because I spent time hating all of them at least once throughout. Life is messy. And people go through phases. Our experiences shape us and again, I think the author does a good job of writing real people with real problems just trying to get by in life - and enjoying the 🌶️spice🌶️ of life as well!
Bonus: I love when authors have characters who are bookworms!! 📚❤️
I don't dive into MF romance often anymore, but for those who know me, know that Shayna Astor is my bestie! Without her, I wouldn't be writing. When she first told me she was writing, it was the first chapter of THIS book that she sent me and I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival ever since.
Enter Shay who has suffered the loss of her father. Her best friend Chelsea has offered to stay behind and put off going to college an extra year to help with her grief.
Lochlyn, Chelsea's older brother, has always been in the picture and Shay's biggest crush. He also has a way of providing some much needed comfort for Shay.
It's more than obvious that the two have feelings for each other, but the biggest problem is that Chelsea has strictly forbidden it.
When Lochlyn and Shay finally give into their feelings for each other their chemistry is off the charts. Shay giving him all of her firsts. The two have to navigate hiding their relationship.
This was such a sweet best friend's brother romance with lots of hurt/comfort. I highly recommend any and all of Shayna's books.
Shay’s best friend Chelsea has made it abundantly clear that her brother Lochlyn is off limits. The one person Shay wants more than anything, the person she connects with, shares interest with and feels the most comfortable with is off limits. Is love worth the risk? This book was cute. It was a pretty simple storyline, nothing overly emotional or deep, but it was done well and gave me plenty of warm and fuzzy feelings throughout. I do wish that the characters had a bit more depth, but overall I enjoyed the forbidden romance and deep love between Shay and Lochlyn.
Another 5 star read from Shayna. So in the beginning of the book Shayna says shay will annoy you. I didn't get that from shay at all the opposite actually loved her. But who did annoy me was Chelsea! Shay and Lochlyn are goals. They have the greatest friendship ! I love that they also have So many of the same things in common. I loved how this story unfolded! The character development with not only Shay but Lochlyn as well is amazing. But I definitely can't wait to see where she's goes with Chelsea's story! Shattered pieces was my go to favorite but off limits has totally replaced it
I absolutely adored this book, I'm not really into college type romances but this was done with so much finesse. It had everything I look for in a book, swoony romance, spice from the beginning, natural chemistry and realistic characters. I couldn't put the damn thing down! I was frustrated with their decision to sneak around but the moments when they were alone, showing how much they loved each other made everything else disappear.
Shay is sooo relatable. Loch, Shay, Chelsea are amazing! The book shocked me quite a bit as always with Shayna’s books. But I love every single one of them. I don’t want to ruin anything about the book but I will say I hated the mom 100%. Loch will forever be in my heart as well. Thank you Shayna for letting me arc.
DNF. This is just my personal experience and opinion. I’m not trying to make anyone not wanna read it in any way. The spicy stuff was just too repetitive for me and I couldn’t get into it. That was my issue with it. I liked the storyline with the best friend’s brother situation and forbidden romance aspect. I liked the characters. I loved that she was a bookworm because helllerrrrrrrrr, relatable asf. I read 40% of it before calling it quits. Just couldn’t handle that they basically did the same thing in every spicy scene and I needed more detail. *PERSONAL PREFERENCE* Wasn’t the book for me, but I’m sure others will love it. Maybe I’ll pick it up again and re try when I’m not dying from a book hangover from a dark romance. Made me glad to be older and married because young love is a pain in the butt and I really resonated with insecurities in their relationship because been there done that.
Shay and lochlyn story is so cute. Young love. Shay has had a crush on her best friend bother far to long. She finally does something for her. Something that makes her feel, other the pain of loosing her father. Chelsea is selfish she has told Shay that Lochlyn id off limits. Shay had fought the feeling but love concourse anything. Can’t wait for the next book.

This book was perfect, it’s best friends brother trope at its finest! It is full of first time love and serious loss. I loved Shay and Lochlyn’s connection and their growth throughout. I also loved Shay’s personal growth. Super cute book!
Holy smokes people grab the tissues and settle in for a beautiful, heart achingly aww inspiring rollercoaster ride!! Shayne Astor is a new author to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect but reading this beautiful story I can tell you I’m now hooked for life. Lochlyn… wow!! What a beautiful character. His soul shines through every word. A young man with a heart of pure gold. A man we would all give our hearts to in a flash, if given the chance. Watching Lochlyn put his needs on the back burner in order to be the friend Shay needs in her time of grief. He’s a nurturer a heart. He puts his needs to one side to be there for his sister as they are basically left to their own devices. He is everything the people he loves needs him to be. Watching him finding so much happiness and joy at the simplest of things he does with Shay is so heartwarming. This beautiful young man is a testament to what every man should aspire to be. Shay is a beautiful character. She’s strong, kind, caring, responsible and has such a beautiful soul. Who wouldn’t love her. After suffering from a heart wrenching loss she’s faced with being abandoned by those who should cherish her. She seems to me to be a young lady who feels bereft of love and support. She is put into a cruel and no win situation wanting something so desperately but knowing that it’s beyond her reach. Lochlyn and Shay are star crossed lovers to me. They are two halves of the same heart. They are truely breathtaking together. Watching the two of them start their journey together Made my heart skip a beat. The emotional depth given to the characters was truly special. I couldn’t read this book fast enough, I was totally addicted - but at the same time I wanted to savour every word so that I could soak up all the emotions jumping from the page straight into my heart. I am an emotional person to start with but I’ve gone through a full box of tissues reading this beautiful story. Shayna Astor is a very talented author who has a very special talent to be able to bring such a depth to her writing. She sucked me into this beautiful world with the first word and kept me hooked all the way through. This story is one of those that touch your heart in such a way that you can’t move on straight away. You need time to let the dust settle as these beloved characters weave their way into your heart and take up permanent residence. This is a story I won’t be forgetting. It has left a beautiful and permanent reminder on my heart. Highly, highly recommend. A million star review.
*I was given an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of Off Limits from Smuthood Tours and Shayna Astor in exchange for my honest review*
I want to first preface this by saying the author has a note in the front of the book saying that the Female Main Character Shay is meant to come off in an annoying and childish manor and it is important to the story. If you read this book please be aware of that.
Now, my thoughts on this book are in a few places. Did I enjoy this book? Yes because it’s personally very relatable as Shay has lost her dad very early in her life as I did. I understood how Shay was feeling and how she put her life on hold to take care of a mother who couldn’t even look at or acknowledge her existence. Grief, anger, and resentment are real when you lose someone and I feel like Shayna Astor portrayed that really well in this book which makes me think the author has lost someone close to them as well.
This is a story about Shay who is a young girl with minimal experiences. Shay has held a torch for her best friends brother Lochlyn for years but was always told by her bestfriend, Chelsea, that the two of them can never be together because it’ll be “uncomfortable” for Chelsea. In this story we meet Chelsea throughout a majority of the story as a very selfish and self centered person with a few redeeming qualities having to do with being a good friend to Shay in certain ways.
Personally throughout the story I found Chelsea to be very annoying but I knew she was important to the storyline so I kept going.
Now getting to Shay and Lochlyn, they both found out the other was interested in each other and started a secret relationship behind Chelsea’s back. The entire story is centered around Shays first real relationship with a guy and shows that insecure and low self confidence that a young woman has when she’s in her first real relationship and shows what first love is like. Shay is constantly second guessing Lochlyn’s feelings for her and telling him that she doesn’t believe he really likes her and she doesn’t trust that he truly wants to be with her which after a while was very repetitive for both the reader and Lochlyn.
The couple faces many challenges such as a long distance relationship, a sister who doesn’t want them together and eventually catches them *together*, Shay’s lack of trust and faith in her and Lochlyn.
I did like this story and I felt it was a very good representation of first love and loss and I am excited to read more from Shayna Astor in the future with the rest of the Limits Series.

Brothers Best Friend College Romance Secret/Forbidden Romance Character Growth Meddling Family Guy Falls First
First can, I just say that I found my new book boyfriend!!! Lochlyn Reynolds is the definition of the perfect book boyfriend. He's sweet, protective, loving, caring, and above all else an amazing guy.
Shay is shy, introverted, let's everyone walk all over her type of girl. Her best friend Chelsea (I'll get to her in a second), and Chelsea's brother Lochlyn have been friends for 15 years. After her father dies, Shay is heartbroken. She leans heavily on Chelsea and Lochlyn Shay and Chelsea decided to skip their first year at Cornell and go to community college instead. Lochlyn who is older, is at Cornell, on his "path".
Chelsea is adamant that Shay and Lochlyn do not date. EVER. Why do you ask? Because it will make HER uncomfortable. But this is a best friend's brother's book, so you know what happens.
I want to say that I felt for Shay, I really truly did. I felt her heartbreak. Her dad died and it was like she lost both parents, because her mother basically checked out.
Now on to Chelsea. At the beginning of the book Shayna Astor comments that "To some, Shay may be considered an annoying character." But let me tell you something, she had that all wrong because Chelsea was the annoying character. Not only that, she was selfish, stuck up and everything was her way. Only her happiness counted. Now I get that she has abandonment issues due to her parents never being around, but the way she treated Shay was uncalled for. She basically made fun of her and I didn't like that at all.
Can we just talk about how Lochlyn is basically Prince Charming?! Every time Shay needs him, he is right there. Even if he just lays there while her head is on his chest for hours, he's there. It was her birthday so he drove four hours, FOUR HOURS! to be there for her. And let's not forget the tattoos. So I may have fallen in love with a much younger fictional man, but if you read this book you will understand. I mean he says things like:
"Besides, I like that you read. It's just another thing to love about you."
This is one of the best books that I have read in 2022. I will definitely be recommending it to anyone that will listen. I cannot wait to see what comes next and get some more of Lochlyn Reynolds
I want to thank Shayna Astor and The Smuthood for allowing me to be a part of this tour.
First things first…. New Book Boyfriend ALERT 😍😍😍 Lochlyn is perfection. 🥰🥰🥰
Okay let’s get to what the book is about. 🤣
Shay is a meek, insecure girl who has been through a lot with her sick father passing away and her mother basically checking out on her own life from being so heartbroken. She has a sister who she hardly ever sees and she has been relying on her best friend Chelsea for support as well Chelsea’s older brother Logan. They have been their for her throughout it all.
Chelsea is a selfish, self absorbed annoyance. I honestly don’t understand how these two could be friends but given that their friendship is from a younger age, they’ve grown up together and gotten use to each other.
As Chelsea’s older brother, Lochlyn 🥰🥰 sees how Chelsea and Shay get along but he also has a familiar relationship with Shay and is always looking out for her. They have a bond and I loved seeing it show throughout the book. Lochlyn has Shay’s back on everything. When she is working too hard, he helps her. When she needs to be fed, he feeds her. When she needs comfort, he comforts her. And that’s exactly how their love begins. 🥺🥺 Lochlyn gives Shay her first kiss at 18 and from then, the secret little glances and touches begin.
But Chelsea is super adamant that her brother stay away from Shay and questions everything little thing, even when they are sitting next to each other.
Throughout the book, I wished for Shay to stand up for herself more and when she finally does, she does it so well! Her confidence growth in this book was *chefs kiss* 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Shayna for this ARC in return for an honest review. Shayna has become a new auto read author to me and she’s delivered another fantastic read 👏🏻🧡

🧡 Brothers Best Friend 🧡 College Romance 🧡 Smutty mcSmut 🧡 Secret/Forbidden Romance 🧡 Character Growth 🧡 Meddling Family
FORBIDDEN. BEST FRIEND’S BROTHER. FRIENDS TO LOVERS. My heart was not okay while reading this one. And let me just say… I would have read this in one sitting if I had started it earlier in the day and wasn’t traveling the next day.
I stayed up as late as I could Saturday night, and even put off packing my suitcases for like two hours Sunday morning - so that I could read some more of this one.
It’s first person, and we only get Shay’s point of view. The author even put a disclaimer that Shay may be seen as annoying because it’s her first real relationship - but I honestly understood Shay and her insecurities, so she didn’t bug me. HER BEST FRIEND THOUGH???? I was ready to fight her.
The story? Shay’s father passed away and she put off her dream college for a year to help her mom with their family business while her mom “copes” (even though she isn’t really coping, just ignoring any kind of feelings besides grief). Enter Chelsea and Lochlyn. Her best friend and her best friend’s brother who have truly been her support system and friends for like 16 years. She had always been attracted to him and never expected anything - she’s 18, never kissed a guy, dated a guy, let alone slept with a guy.
Enter Lochlyn who storms in like Prince fucking Charming and is literal perfection. He's always checking in on her (even before shit happens), and he just genuinely cares and he stole my heart. After a kiss on Thanksgiving and finally admitting feelings on New Years, they’re lowkey dating - but keeping it hidden because Chelsea “forbids” it. Like I said, she drove me insane and she gotta go. (Excited for the next book because it’ll be Chelsea’s story and her redemption - direct quote from the author too, haha!)
This was a good romance, with the ever popular best friend’s brother trope. I had trouble reading this one, nothing to do with the romance. It was the best friend, Chelsea, that just completely turned me off. She was a selfish, dramatic spoiled brat who only cared about what she wanted. Ex: Shay doesn’t really like parties, but Chelsea threw her one for her birthday, complete with alcohol. Shay doesn’t drink. She’s possessive over Shay, and honestly super toxic. There was a little bit of a redemption arc for her, where she got better but most of this book I was ready to try and karate chop a fictional character.
Anyways, this is Shay and Lochlyn’s story. Shay has always hung out with both Chelsea and her brother Lochlyn. Chelsea has always made it perfectly clear that she would never be okay with them getting together, always very adamant about it. But Lochlyn is the one who gets her, always knows just what she needs, and turns heads wherever he goes. There’s always been rumors about his, ummm, activities at school. Chelsea even believes them, but are they true? Not that it matters, because its just easier to give Chelsea what she wants rather than deal with her tantrums, so Shay gives in, just like every other time. Until Thanksgiving, Chelsea goes to bed and Shay is by the pool. Lochlyn and Shay get to talking and she mentions that she’s never even been kissed. And then suddenly Lochlyn is changing that. But this can’t go anywhere, can it?
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶/🌶🌶 (the intimate moments were good - just not heavily described)
Have you ever fallen in love with your best friends brother? No.. Well Shay has and this is her story!
A forbidden love story 🫠
————————————
I love when a relationship is all consuming in the best ways.. when a person is fully invested in their partners well being, likes/dislikes, and mental health. That’s the feeling I got from Shay and Lochlyn’s relationship. By the time they got together they had known each other for so many years and the connection was already there. It was perfect!
For Shays first boyfriend she couldn’t have picked anyone better than Lochlyn he is sweet, passionate, responsible, tattooed 🥵 “Good night, baby girl. Dream about me.”
This story was filled with so many growth opportunities for the people involved and we got to see those take place. Between the loss of a family member, secrets, relationships, and lies - we were taken on a ride!
One thing tho - Chelsea… was a little annoying at time 🫣 not my favorite person but she made up for it by the end!
This was my first time reading anything by this Author and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for these characters!
I loved this book so much. Lochlyn is one of my new favorite book boyfriends. Shay was a little awkward at the beginning but given that it's her first relationship, and with Loch's rumored reputation, it's totally understandable. The love and magic between these two is beautiful. Everyone needs a Lochlyn in their lives. He's so supportive and takes such good care of Shay, especially when she's really doubting everything. These two paired together was so perfect. They each needed what the other had to offer, so much. I honestly can't see them with anyone else, they just fit together like puzzle pieces, like peas and carrots, seals and polar bears (okay maybe not that one). I found Chelsea annoying af at first but I think her attitude and how she acts is more of a way to protect herself and keep things from changing like so many things in her live have done. Who knows, maybe I'm reading too far into it, but she was more understandable by the end of the story, and I'm excited to read more about her and Wes (who seems like such a sweetheart and a perfect match for Chels). (Also, side note, but I'm really glad that Shay's mom redeemed herself. I was hoping that would happen and it got me all fuzzy inside).
Thank you Shayna, for letting me ARC read for you and for bringing us amazing stories. It's appreciated so much more than you know .
Once again we have another 5 star read from Shayna. I will forever feel lucky to be able to read her books ahead of time.
This book is a sweet, forbidden (but only because of a seemingly selfish, bratty best friend), best friend's brother (but also a close friend of Shay) to lovers romance.
As mentioned in a previous review, Shayna will say that Shay will annoy you initially and I must admit... She did. I understand self-esteem issues exist, but this poor girl man. Obviously the fact that her family all but abandoned her once her father passed (we never do get a glimpse at the elusive sister) played a huge role in the way she feels about herself, but still. It would get to me every time she expressed her doubts in Loch when he never once did anything to show he felt anything other than absolute love and adoration towards her, but I digress. I LOVED her character growth, though. Watching her stand up for herself and fight for what she wants, even if it took a while, was a wonderful sight to see. Chelsea... well I can't wait to see the innerworkings of her mind in the next book haha
If you're looking for an absolutely dream-worthy love story with all the spiciness and (necessary) drama, then this is the book for you.
The thing that leaves the most lasting impression for me in all Shayna Astor's novels is the raw emotion. You feel what her characters' feel. Shayna writes in a way that you don't just understand what the character feels, it is not logic based, you FEEL it. Shayna writes in a way that brings emotions off the page, she expertly builds them, and the entanglements emotions ensnare you in real life.
So take that transformative, emotion invoking writing, and focus it on a forbidden love story. Shay is young, she is trying to find her footing after a traumatic loss, and she is figuring out for the first time in her brand new adult life who she has in her corner. It's not her mom, who is surviving her days. It is her best friend, the friend who also deferred College to stay with Shay during her most darkest time. Chelsea has been like a sister to Shay, and Chelsea has one rule.....Don't get romantically involved with her brother Lochlyn. And yet, time with Lochlyn seems to be the only thing that brings Shay happiness. How do you choose between loyalty and love?
Omg 😱 why did the book end ?! I was done, and still staring at the page like this can’t be it. I opened the book and just couldn’t stop.
First of omg yes ! Best friend brother’s romance novels are everything ! Add the hot and steamy scenes and lord Jesus it is everything.
I felt for Shay and her journey. All she been through. But having a MAN like Loch was everything. Where do I go and find me a guy like him? He treats her like a queen & the sweet gestures he does for her. I totally agree he is a Shay whisperer. They were two missing pieces of puzzle that fit together. I just don’t want their story to end. I want more of them.
I want more of their traditions, and one on one moments. Their little secrets no one else knows. I want the good bad and ugly. I want it all, & fingers crossed will only get more in the future.
P.S. Who can resist someone when their off limits ? 😏 it just makes it that much hotter.
Thank you Shayna for allowing me to read this book prior to publication. I enjoyed reading this journey of young love.
I loved reading Off Limits. Everyone should have a Lochlyn in their life!!!. In his character, the author created the perfect boyfriend. He was good, patient, kind, understanding and great in bed. The author did a great job with building up the attraction between Shay and Lochlyn and I could feel their chemistry and the passion they had between them!!! I enjoyed the sex scenes and the author did a great job writing them and illustrating their passion.
The book had characters with real stories. From Lochlyn and Chelsea being deserted by their parents to Shay recently losing her father. The book shows how young love can be navigated through real world problems. It would have been nice if the characters had a bit more depth and that Shay's journey from meek to bold had more substance to it, but I enjoyed the read anyway.

“Come on, Shay. I love her, but she’s probably the most self-centered person I’ve ever met. I know she loves you, but is she really watching out for you? Has she ever?”
Off Limits is a literal dream come true for every young woman who’s ever been in love with their best friends brother. This story is filled with tons of swoon worthy moments and young, forbidden love. Shay is inexperienced, naive, and relatable and her character growth throughout the story is strong. Lochlan is basically book boyfriend perfection. He is patient, supportive, understanding, sexy, and just what Shay needs. If you’re looking for a sweet but steamy read with lots of emotions, friendship, and true love, this is definitely one to read!
He stops and pulls the pillow from my face. “Tell me what you want,” he growls. “You. All of you.”
Yet all I can think is that at some point I’m going to have to make an impossible choice between two very different kinds of love. The love of my best friend, who is more like a sister, or who I’m pretty sure is the love of my life.
Such a beautiful book that brings you into the world of a forbidden love of best friends brother. I have never read this kind of forbidden love but I have to say it was really cute. I enjoyed reading about this young and strong love! I would like to alert everyone that reads this that you will definitely fall in love with Lochlyn there is no way around it 😍. As always with Shayna’s characters they all are very well developed and have amazing growth to them. I love when she writes her characters because I feel like they’re extremely relatable! You have no choice but to enjoy the characters you read about when they come from Shayna. Shay is such a sweet and loving character who just wants to do good by her best friend and best friends brother. It was so nice seeing Shay gain strength and have a say in her happiness. If you want a cute romance with young love I recommend reading this. ❤️
