Summer is around the corner, and Little League first baseman, Billy Kramer, is looking forward to playing another year with the LA Southgate Sharks. His plans are uprooted when his mother announces an unexpected move to rural Bennington, Nebraska. Billy's world is turned upside down. Billy hoped to find a new team that could compete at the same level as his former team. He soon finds that Bennington's local team, the Bunz Town Badgers, is composed of below-average players who haven't won a game in two years. Recognizing Billy's talent, the coach sends him to the Omaha Outlaws, believing he should be with players matching his skill level. Billy quickly realizes he must make a playing for a polished team with questionable motives or playing with a team of friends who love the sport. Will this star athlete have what it takes to make some tough decisions?

Strongly recommend reading/listening to this with your kids. While we drove home from a hockey tournament, I found this on Spotify premium and my son was captivated, so was I. Great life lessons. Gave us some good grounds for conversation about being a teammate and good sport and playing through adversity. Looking forward to book two.

Every time before my husband gives books away to our ever growing list of children that we supply books for - he gives them to me first to read. When I looked at this one my first thought was - Oh it's a book on baseball. Now I Do like watching baseball sometimes but have I ever actually read a book on baseball? Nooooo. This is going to be the first one.

This is a children's book on baseball. Our protagonist Billy Kramer - plays first base in his Little League team - the LA Southgate Sharks. He had been looking forward to playing for them all summer, but a family tragedy meant that he had to spend the summer in Nebraska and play for a different Little League team - in Bennington - the Bunz Town Badgers, coached by Mr. Cannon. Kent Cannon is his son and is the same age as Billy.

I am really surprised that I like this book so much. Remember - I kinda sorta like baseball. But this book is really cute and informative. And I'm already half way through the book in a very short period of time.

Our hero Billy is a really awesome character. I admire him very much. He leaves his beloved Los Agneles to move to Nebraska for the summer - has wonderful adventures with the local baseball team and makes friends with a former baseball player from his LA home team. I really loved this book. I hope my husband gets more books from this author.

Great book to read with your kid if they are a baseball fan. Wholesome story with a ton of great lessons, while at the same time being exciting and engaging enough for a young reader.
