A deadly virus, a coven of pissed-off vampires, and a new breed of hybrid vampires. Just another Tuesday for newly-turned vampire and scientist Liz Meyer.

Liz Meyer's first serum is released to treat the deadly DESVID virus, without her consent. Despite her urging against it, the president is insistent on producing more of the dangerous serum, the side effects of which creates a new breed of hybrid vampires.

A string of mysterious attacks has the police baffled, but Liz is sure the new hybrid vampires are to blame. She enlists the help of handsome detective Edgar, a hybrid himself, to help find them.

Liz grows fond of Edgar, but still mourns the loss of Ryan, her first true love. A surprise revelation about the survivors of the fire leaves her even more conflicted.

When hybrids start to become the victims, Liz wonders if the coven are behind the attacks. She discovers things aren't as they seem, for either the coven or for the hybrids.

Amidst the threat of a war between the coven and the new breed, Liz struggles to create a viable cure for both the virus and the hybrid condition. Can she keep the peace long enough to fix everything?

Originally a Jersey girl, sunny Texas is where I now call home, in a town way up north in the panhandle called Wellington. Along with the man of my dreams, I have two children: a rambunctious little girl and a sweet but vocal little boy. Three cats, three dogs and an inordinate amount of pet hair complete my household. For fun I like to read YA, horror, and existentialist fiction, as well as watch cartoons, movies, and sometimes even cartoon movies. I try not to take anything in life too seriously and I tend to smile often.

Thank you Kat Stiles for providing me with a copy of The Vampire Cure 2: A New Breed. This book is the second in the series. It's a sci-fiction thriller and is such an addictive read; once you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down. It keeps getting better and better as the story proceeds. It’s a journey of a scientist named Liz; who is no more a human. She turned into a vampire but she wants to stop other people from turning into hybrids: new breed and save everyone. The Lamp industries (Liz’s former workplace) is distributing the serum to hospitals and the people are constantly turning. There’s a pandemic going on; so people have a false hope that this serum will cure them, but in reality, it’ll rather turn them into hybrids. And thanks to President Lamp for reporting Liz; now she’s homeless and a fugitive. Liz faces a lot of hardships, but the difficult times are followed by a brilliant plan. The vampires and hybrids are at war with each other but I’m glad Liz is a genius and a superwoman. The characters are very well developed; I love how the author has constructed Liz’s personality, she’s smart, intelligent, strong, independent, fearless and humorous. Amy’s such a sweetheart (I love the part where she makes her entry during the fight and saves the day) and Edgar’s a gentleman with a kind heart. Even the villains are very intelligently fabricated. This book has a little bit of everything; suspense, thrill, mystery, humour, politics, war, action and romance. It will keep you hooked and make you crave for more as the story unfolds. I enjoyed every part of this book; a very well researched and thrilling piece of work by the author. Thumbs up!

“The Vampire Cure 2. A New Breed” by Kat Stiles is the second installment in “The Vampire Cure Series”, which blends supernatural fantasy with science fiction, current events and some romance into a fast-paced and action-packed story around Liz Meyer (FMC) a scientist intended into find a cure for the viral disease that is decimated the human population. While conducting her research and almost by accident she discovers the existence of vampires, and even more importantly their immunity to the disease. Driven by her desire to find the cure she accepts a dinner invitation to the local Vampire Mansion, and finds herself torn between her attraction to the master (Ryan) and the Coven wanting her blood. (Book 1 in the series).

Liz is precognizant, and thus knows exactly how dangerous the disease will become, but she also realizes that this discovery is a double-sided revelation, which could and does create an even more deadly vampire breed. Now Liz has stopped the manufacture of the serum, and focuses on reversing its effects to this new breed but the Coven and the police are closing up in their intend to eradicate this new deadly breed. However, for Liz the fight against odds and time is personal, as after all she feels fully responsible for this new situation.

Kat Stiles approach to the vampire myth is original, modern, and genuine, interweaving classic tropes (lust, immortality) with scientific elements (pandemic, cure), the timeless notion of love/hate attraction, and the moral dilemma of justifying (or not) the means by the ends, gives the story a unique twist. A very enjoyable read with relatable characters, credible events, and interesting situations.

First of all I want to say that the book deserves more than four stars, but not quite five - I'd give it 4 3/4 stars.

I really enjoyed this follow up to The Vampire Cure. The story starts where the previous book finished and I highly recommend reading the first book, otherwise some parts of the story won’t make much sense.

Liz Meyer, the brilliant scientist, is still adapting to her new, enforced lifestyle, while she continues to search for a serum that will reverse the side effects of the cure for the DESVID virus she made.
The cure, President Lamp distributed, despite her saying the research on it wasn’t complete. It cured DESVID, but also turned the patient into a vampire-human hybrid, craving for blood, but still able to digest food and resistant to sunlight.

Not only does Liz have to find a way to counter the cure’s side effects, she has to stop Lamp from continuing to distribute the cure and protect the hybrids from the local vampire coven, who consider them an abomination and want to wipe them out. Luckily Liz is still aided by tech genius Amy and supported by the friendly cop Edgar.

There are lots of action, modern day, paranormal suspense, romance, with some surprises thrown in for good measure; and as always the characters are interesting, complex and very believable.

The book has a satisfying conclusion, but also has a teaser that leaves me in anticipation of book three!

I received this book as an ARC copy from the author and am leaving this review of my own volition.

Liz's life has changed in so many ways! This book is about both her adjustments to her new life and daily realities and the exponential consequences of her discoveries and everything she's gotten mixed up in. Her personal life, her community, the country - it's all being affected and nothing is quite what it seems. Not with DESVID, the vampire coven, or Edgar. Some good twists and reveals in this book. This is an easy read, heavy on the fiction, light on the science, lots of action/adventure and a bit of romance and steam thrown in.

If you haven't read book 1, be aware this book does poke jokes at certain men in influential positions who think they know more than scientific and medical experts and bluster ahead in search of praise and hero status even in the face of dire warnings and deadly side effects. Depending on your political alignment you will most likely find it either hilarious or offensive. Also, if you are vegetarian, many squirrels come to an untimely end in this book until Liz finds a better alternative.

This is book 2 and picks up right where book 1 ended. Book 1 really sets the stage for the issues in book 2 and I think you need to read them in order to appreciate the story. Book 2 also ends with a major issue for book 3 - so while some issues are resolved, don't expect a HEA yet.

So, that was a bit expected unexpected. I thought that Teddy would rescue Ryan…but that outcome really wasn’t expected… And how do I go from liking someone to totally unlike them in mere minutes…? It seems that there are three constants in this second installment. Elizabeth, Amy and her brothers and Mister President. Lovely. And what the heck Kat Styles! I really thought I ll get a conclusion here with a massive HEA! Ok, so thanks for the small things like a small HEA and a half conclusion…
Now I have to wait for the next big battle..
I am really glad there are no vampire rats coming out of the gutter where the serum goes. Yeah, such thoughts I had while reading this amazing book! Hilarious! But I learned to be thankful for the small things in life 😄. Well done, captivating read and magnificent characters!
Enjoy your read y’all!

Searching for a Cure . . .

Liz Meyer has continued to look for a reversal for the virus that is producing a new breed and for the people who have been turned into vampires. But things are not exactly what Liz has been led to believe. And the coven is murdering the “impure” new vampires. As Liz races to find the cure, she may be too late. Can she stop President Lamp from continuing to distribute the cure that she warned had not been thoroughly tested? Is there a way to protect the hybrids from the coven?

The tension is mounting as Liz works to try to correct the problem she feels responsible for. She doesn’t want the widespread slaughter to continue. She still hopes to reverse the effects of the drug. But she is running out of time. Grab your copy and discover the surprises along the way.

I'm always looking for a new paranormal romance book. When I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of The Vampire Cure 2, I immediately got the first book and started reading. The author is very good at making the story flow so well you get sucked into the life of the characters. For me it was a great mash up of real world issues and some of my favorite book series all rolled in one. If you're a fan of Vampires and want a good laugh along the way this is a great read. My only problems with it are, 1. How fast a read it was. (It only took me 3 days to read both books) I wanted more words, more of the story. 2. How President "Lamp" is, but then again I wasn't too fond of him in the real world. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, just as I did the first one. In this book Liz finds that her serum was turning people into a sort of human/vampire hybrid. The full vampires don't like their existence, mostly because some of them have taken to attacking humans for their blood and thus possibly exposing the vampires. Liz is working hard on finding a cure for this condition and at the same time trying to keep the well behaved hybrids from being killed by vampires. She really has her work cut out for her.

♥️🧡💜 A breathtaking suite !

Scientist Liz tries to resist the thirst for blood as she watches the nurse treat the recently injured cop Edgar.

Edgar received the serum and it saved him from death.
But he’s hungry, really hungry...

---------------

A breathtaking sequel to the adventures of scientist Liz, recently turned into a vampire.

The character of Liz is captivating, the twists and turns are numerous and the sentimental plot is quite mysterious.

An excellent volume 2 !
Strongly the continuation !

Kat Stiles has another slam dunk on her hands! The 2nd installment of this trilogy hits the ground running.
It grabs your imagination from the start, holds on tight & doesn't let go until the end of the book. It picks ups where the 1st one ends, it's action packed, fast paced & has a president who doesn't listen to Liz, the scientist. Like that would ever happen i.r.l. 😉 😉
Vampire Cure 2 is an engrossing sequel to the wonderful and unique syfi vamp world that Kat Stiles has graced us with. Can't wait until the next book!

Liz is still attempting to tell people that the serum has side effects. Then humans start to die. some of the hybrids have gone rogue. Then the hybrids start to die, the vampires are taking them out. And Liz is in the middle of it all. She created synthetic blood that works for both hybrid and vampire alike. This story is full of action plus there is plenty of romance to go around and ends in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

The second book in the trilogy and continues where the first book ended and Liz is still looking for a cure. This book will grab you from the start and with the twists and turns along the way will keep you engrossed to the last page. It is a great blend of paranormal, science fiction, mystery and romance. Can’t wait to read the next book. I received an ARC and am leaving a totally voluntary, unbiased and honest review.

Other than the not too subtle bashing of the previous US president, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is fast paced and the characters are well written. I was pulled into Kat Stiles' vampire world and ended up reading the entire book in one day. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

If you haven't read them yet, I recommend you also read the author's two other series, Modified and Enhanced.

Book two starts where one leaves off. Liz is still having issues with trying to find a cure. She is up against time constraints, the President, and many other issues. She is still fond of Edgar but she has to worry about the attacks turning people into vamps. She feels responsible and that is another reason she is working so hard to find a cure. This is an awesome and exciting series that I am so glad I did not miss out on! I cannot wait for the next book!

Liz is back and still working on a cure but of course things do not go as planned and thus problems arise. The story was well written, drew me in, and had me glued to the end to see what was really going on. I had questions to be answered. Lots of action and drama as Liz tries to solve everything. Liked the bit different take on vampires and what was happening to them. Loved the characters too.

This is book 2 in The Vampire Cure Series so you do need to read book 1. I enjoyed this story but it felt a bit rushed plus it was too short I wanted more. I really liked Liz she’s a very brainy scientist she finds a cure for the virus but it’s turning some people into hybrids and she finds out that they are being killed so now Liz has to find a way to hide the hybrids a woman’s work is never done. This is a great story I enjoyed the characters and I recommend this book.

Intense! The second book starts off where the first book ended. Liz is still looking for a cure for the virus and for the people that were turned into vampires. There are plenty of surprises and unusual turn of events. This was an easy read with some violence. I enjoyed reading this book and my favourite character so far is Edgar. I like him and his dog. I would recommend this book and series.

Liz has created a serum for the virus that she hopes will help but the President released it before she could do more tests. It creates hybrid vampires but then there are deaths and then it’s a question of who’s behind it. As it seems one way it’s not and sge has to try and find the truth and get the correct serum made! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Can she find a cure in time?

Liz Meyer must stop the President from destroying humanity and the only way is to find a cure for the vampires the serum is creating.

This book has plenty of paranormal action and danger. This is the first book I have read in this series and now I want to read the first one. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Great story, following on directly from part one. The serum for the virus has created hybrid not quite vampires, Liz now a full blown vampire is working on a cure. This is a well written book, great characters, a love triangle, some intrigue and betrayals and a full on action ending with a little development for the next book. Enjoyable. I am looking forward to the next book. I received a complimentary copy from storyorigin and an leaving a voluntary honest review

This has the potential to be quite interesting, if you've read the first book. I have not, so I can only assume that the storyline picks up right where book 1 left off. I was less than enthusiastic of the very strong political theme running through the entire book, clearly reflecting the author's political leanings. Best to leave those out whenever possible.

You really should read Book 1 first to find out what DESVID is, for general background, and to avoid spoilers if you read it later. Book 2 can be read in an uninterrupted afternoon, is NC17, and told from the point of view of researcher Liz Meyer. I had a review copy via Storyrigin and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
