The adventures of Dickabod Crane - Headless Spanker
Celebrating the final night of spooky season by raiding the kids’ candy and traumatizing my hubs by reading him monster smut!
Well this wasn’t as bad as the Easter bunny book, it didn’t take itself very seriously, but honestly, who knew the headless horseman was such a kinky freak?
I was ready to give this three stars because it made me laugh more than cringe but my husband is not into bondage and sadism in his monster smut (he’s no fun), so two stars it is!
Hubs’ final thoughts: there was way too much moaning, I just want to eat my candy and forget about this.

Another Halloween week book down, my second with the headless horseman retelling 😈.
Arletta (28) lives a lonely life. She’s a witch and reads tarot cards, and, because of that, isn’t treated nicely.
It’s Hallows Eve and she’s walking when she’s taken by a shadowy figure, a man, a headless man😅 on a horse, one that has a pumpkin as a head.
He takes her to his realm and he plans to claim her…
And claim her he does 😉🔥
Oh this was 🔥🥵.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Even though Arletta is “taken”, there’s an attraction to this horseman who knows his way around her body, and although he doesn’t have a head, he has the body of a man and the hands of a god (ahem. I mean man… lol) and he knows how to use them 😉🔥. And use them he does 💦.
As they get to know each other (he knows her more than she knows him… duh… he’s death 😬😅), she realizes she wants to kiss him, wants to savor his mouth.. and she’s gonna do what she’s gotta do to get that done 👀

she’s successful 😉 and then he takes advantage of his newly-old head and does lots of 😜 to her 🥵 lol

It ends in an HEA but I would say it’s more like HFN 😏… I just wish it was longer 😏. Oh and they maybe some of the bad people would’ve gotten some comeuppance 😏.
Overall, a good, quick, fun, Halloweeny story

Steamy, Sleepy Hallow themed novella with LOTS of witchy and Halloween vibes.

It may not be Halloween time, but it's always the right time to read spooky stories about Headless Horsemen who go abducting witchy fair maidens during All Hallows Eve!!
I've been wanting to read Molly Likovich's books for over a year now, and I'll hopefully get through them all this month. If they're all as good as this one I might have to force myself to not binge them all in like a day.
But yeah, this was so so good, I've always kind of had a weird thing for the Headless Horseman and apparently other people do too. Welcome to the spooky club my friends.
I WISH IT WAS LONGER THOUGH. Luckily there's another book coming, but that's months awayyyyyy. How will I survive????

I would have given this five stars, however, I did have one deduction (there was, unfortunately, an instance in which the word “folds” just dried up my pumpkin juice.)
Other than that, 10/10 recommend reading this novella and adding it to your October TBR. I promise you will enjoy smashing this pumpkin.

Silly from start to finish with so much fantasticism it became hilarious really early on.
Fucking 'Wax play' on a headless horseman fanfiction?? + He's a Soft Dom that discussed nothing about it with Arletta but willed her to just roll with it? MENTAL!
The Horse being a complicit to Arlettas escape had me in stitches!
3 stars because it made my day!

when i read these short, monster romance stories i don't want the monster to turn into a hot human. i also don't read them to start over analyzing everything, because it is a HEADLESS HORSEMAN story, so I should just have a good time, enjoy the steam, and be done.
Instead, this one rubbed me the wrong way, especially since the witch is so intent on finding his head, breaks his heart in the process to go find it, and then he transforms into a hot man when she puts the skull on him. meh.
overall just did not work for me at all, and yes it is steamy and that was a bit fun, but not enough to make me overlook everything I did not enjoy.

Ugh. The forced Dom/sub deal with him giving her titty twisters and telling her to obey him was NOT hot. It was odd and unconvincing. Spice was rushed and the writing wasn’t strong enough to get me to buy in to the FMC getting her clit slapped by her kidnapper and suddenly being into BDSM.
Headless Horseman was just like some rando guy that watched one kinky video online and decided being rude and aggressive was how to be a sexy dominant man.
They bone all over the house like they had a checklist to fulfill for Halloween night and then don’t speak for 6 months then proclaim their love. What?
Also she grave robs and gives him a skull and he gets a human head at the end? Disappointing. He’s a monster spirit whatever keep it that way. Don’t give me the headless horseman and not get the pumpkin head involved. Also a missed opportunity to talk about the headless horseman giving or getting head.

This story could have been so much fun, but the writing and a very unlikeable main character mostly ruined it for me. Why is this alleged lifelong witch, who was raised in a family of witches, so clueless about her own craft (and the craft of others)? And how is she this close-minded despite her craft? Maybe I could have enjoyed this more if it hadn't irked me on such a personal level. 😅 Also... who the fuck names their partner after the place they were born? Like, how unimaginative can you possibly be?

I expected this to be bad.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually really enjoyed it. It was the perfect Halloween quick read.
No horrific monster smut (boogie man I’m looking at you). Just a dude with a pumpkin for a head. It’s only weird if you make it weird 😂.
Arletta was snarky and sassy and witchy and I adored her. I actually really liked Hesse’s character but I wish we got more of him.
I would’ve read 400 pages of them. 53 was not nearly enough (although the story was wrapped up nicely)

Dreaming to go into the woods somewhere an encounter one of Likovich’s creatures and go off into another world.
Her main characters are always a thrill to read. How self aware and intelligent they are. How open to whatever weird thing that comes their way.
