When his beloved granddaughter is abducted by the local baron’s henchmen, the ailing Walerin of Antselt must resort to desperate measures to save the child. He is willing to pay any price, though he fears his final hope will taint his soul and lead to eternal damnation.

By casting a knucklebone into the fire, Walerin summons the aid of a mysterious woman who owes him a great, decades-old debt. However, Valeria Constancia is no ordinary woman of flesh and blood. She neither ages nor draws breath. And her hunger is an unholy one...

Benedictio Noctis is a 28,000-word medieval dark-fantasy novella from the author of Remember Tomorrow and the Extensis Vitae and Nexus of the Planes trilogies.

This had all the makings of a “classic” vampire story for me and I loved being able to root for the vampire! Since it’s short, the plot moved quickly and hooked me in immediately. I also loved how to language and writing felt appropriate for the time period but not so complicated and flowery that it wouldn’t be enjoyable to modern readers. I’ll definitely be checking out more by this author!

Not your usual vampire and knight...

Lighting fast and over too quickly, this novella twists 2 story lines together with skill and imagination. Clever and with just the right amount of background material to make the connections happen. If you enjoy his other books, this one will not disappoint.
