Wetwork: A Modern Mercenary Thriller

Rate this book
What happens when you pit men who have nothing to lose against those who have everything to gain?

It's been three months since the explosive ending to Integral Solutions Consulting. Three months of hiding, waiting, watching. In the months since the sinking in the Hudson Bay, Alex Foaly, Morgan Tyron, and Vinny Jensen have gone to ground, waiting it out and biding their time as they develop a plan to clear their names for an attack they did not commit, but the world blames them for. Searching for any answers that will help prove their innocence, Alex returns to the United States. Travelling back to Manhattan, he must utilize his training as an operator to avoid local and federal law enforcement in his one-man crusade for justice. Meanwhile, chasing action, adventure, and more importantly, fortune, Morgan finds himself in Africa. Hired by a shady criminal for what is more than likely an illicit, off-the-books operation, he packs a bag and an old FAL to walk in the footsteps of mercenaries past on the dark continent. Wetwork is the sequel to Deception , combining boots-on-the-ground experience, in-depth analysis and research, and a love of history. The follow-up to Deception delivers a dark, gritty, visceral delve into the minds of characters who have everything to gain, and everything to lose. “Picking up several months after the events in Deception, Zach James’ second installment drops you right into the action. We find that Foaly, Morgan, and Jensen are handling their fugitive status very differently. After being framed and labeled terrorists, they each have to find a way to avoid the authorities while trying to piece together who set them up. The guys have each managed to carve out some semblance of a new life when those responsible for their downfall come for them with violent and devastating consequences. Wetwork is a thriller fan’s mainstay. Gritty action and banter, with battle-tested authenticity, grabs you in a submission hold that demands you keep turning pages until the end. Mercenary versus mercenary scenarios guarantee the gloves come off and tapping out isn’t an option.”
-A.M. Adair, Naval Intelligence Officer, and author of the internationally acclaimed Elle Anderson series.

If you like authentic and gritty thrillers dealing with warfare, tactics, and gear wrapped in an interesting stories with characters that grow on you…Zach James is your man. Wetwork is even better than Deception (Book 1). Also, Matthew Williamson is awesome! Great narrator with a definite future in military thriller genre. Looking forward to book 3!

I have completely enjoyed reading all 3 of Zach James' books. They have the feel of someone who if, they haven't experienced it, have spoken to people who have been there and done that.
If you enjoy Jack Carrs's novels, you'll like these as well. I sincerely hope that Zach James has a few more books in him!

Book Review - Wetwork - Zach James
Picking up where Indie author Zach James’ first installment, “Deception” left off, “Wetwork,” book two in the Modern Mercenary Thriller series, shotguns the reader right back into the action with very little delay. Wetwork is the exciting sequel to Deception, combining boots-on-the-ground tactical and military experience, in-depth analysis and research, and total resolution of the problem at hand. The story delivers a dark, gritty, and instinctive examination into the main characters - the three special operators - who have everything to gain, and everything to lose. The three-man military contractors - Morgan Tyron, Alex Foaly and Vinny Jensen are back but are fugitives in this tale running for their lives. After being framed and labeled terrorists, they each have to find ways to avoid the authorities while trying to piece together who set them up. When those responsible for their unjust downfall eventually come for them, the violence and devastation that pursues is unprecedented! James writes another action thriller that exemplifies the true meaning of ‘violence of action.’ Exhilarating, Intense, Authentic, and Exciting; Wetwork is that one action thriller that makes the reader shout “damn,” after each battle scene and confrontation scenario. The word ‘captivating’ doesn’t do the action scenes enough justice in this story! The resolve, the character, and the banter between the main characters and even the bad guys is also well done. James knows what he’s writing about and shines again in his second penning and catapults the series into my ‘must read’ / pre-order list. Super exciting storyline, well-written, and entertainingly told. Highly recommended for the military action reader…
