This book is also 3.5 ⭐️. A large part of this book takes place at a cabin and is unfortunately really just filler. Once they get back to civilization the plot progresses but is kinda confusing. The secret society comes off more Boy Scouts earning your badges than anything else.

This is the second book of the Brentson University Trilogy and does end in a cliffhanger. The conclusion will be in the next book. . This is an enemies to lover's troupe but be warned it's dark and dreary at times. It won't take you long to get emotionally involved with Raven and Nash. Their relationship began as high school sweethearts until she mysteriously left town. Needless he was bitter. They were from opposites sides of the track but had a connection that ran deep. This series is very intense and you won't be able to put it down. Full of drama and emotion. A great series and can't wait to find out the end in the next book. I read an advance reader copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

Raven and Nash's story becomes both more complex and clearer in this book. There are so many secrets in both their lives, but one thing is surer. They love each other, but are both angry. This jumps out if the page, underlined by hearing from each of them. This works so well. I love knowing what they think and how different events are affecting them. Raven's strength and determination definitely show up even more, while Nash's life is becoming increasingly complicated.
This book is full on. There are good times, hot times, loving times, scarey times, fun and friendship and shocks. Don't forget the shocks..I certainly won't. Fabulous! 💖💖💖💖💖

This book is amazing. The secret society of the Chevaliers along with all that it entails for Nash and Raven is twists and turns you would nor expect nor predict.

The spice factor and the hate sex is steamy to say the least. I know the third and final book is going to be amazing beyond all my expectations, and we’ll worth the wait!

If you enjoy Dark Romance with a lot of steamy hot hate sex between prior lovers… turned enemies… with a bit of secret society and a lot of intrigue, action and angst… and one hell of a cliff hanger that will make your heart race. THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU!!!

Raven and Nash's story picks up and continues rock your world in a major way. This book wastes no time in sucking you right back into this world of Juicy drama, raw, emotions, stunning secrets, thick tension, sultry steam, thrilling danger and jaw on the floor twists. This is only book two of three, so you better hold on for that looming cliffy because it is a doozey!! This is my frank, independent review.

Holy hell!! Knocked me right into the stratosphere! This book was so much more than what I was expecting. I was pulled right back into Nash and Raven's story in this author's usual fabulous fashion. This book was so much more intense than Devious Game, picking up from the cliffhanger ending and thrusting me right back into the whirlwind that we were left swirling around in. Nash and Raven had so much more depth to them and their relationship is, beyond a doubt, stronger for all they have endured.

Nash has removed Raven from Brentson, not with her permission either, to protect her from whomever is out to get her. He whisks her away to his private cabin where he is hoping to get them back on track personally. He needs to repair the damage they have done to themselves and show her that he wants another chance at a future. She's always been "the one" for him since they met years ago and he's willing to go to great lengths to show her what she means to him. He's really hoping that she wants the same thing. He's willing to put their past behind them, building a new future despite what his father wants.
Raven must watch the danger coming at her from all sides. Who should she trust? She knows too many secrets and they just might be what puts an end to her life if she isn't careful. One little slip and she's done for. After witnessing Nash's actions in the Cavalier's mansion, she knows too much and her flight mode kicks in. She has to get to safety and that means getting as far away from him as possible. Unfortunately, her attempt to escape lands her right where she least wants to be until Nash convinces her otherwise. The flames between them have never been extinguished, only burning hotter and higher than before. They realize that their love has stayed steadfast despite the feelings of betrayal and both are willing to put every effort into pursuing a stronger, lasting future. Some secrets are revealed and others are still hidden, waiting to come out when...BAM!!!

You won't believe the cliffhanger ending to this one. I fell right out of my seat!

Lowering rating from 3 stars after finishing the series.

No answers to my many questions and the revelations and plot twists were annoying. The h is ridiculous and the hero makes a completely out of character mistake at the end… and the emotion I was hoping for in the next book, due to this mistake, never materialized. Like usual, the hero is emasculated and made useless in book 2 of a trilogy. Whyyy

Right now, I’m not even itching to read the next book when I SHOULD’VE been. If I thought the plot in the previous book was manageable in the previous book than the plot in this book was absolutely UNMANAGEABLE!

THE WRITING AND GRAMMAR didn’t improve from the previous book. THE STRUCTURE AND PLOT were horrendous and completely absent. Most of the book is of them in the cabin which may had this element of them forming a bond and kind of developing and understanding their relationship. But the thing is, Blackwood does this awful and confusing thing with her writing where she constantly has her characters contradict themselves. One moment we have Raven be like “I love this moment” and then the next moment she’s like “we can’t ever go back.” Not to mention that the ENTIRE hating each other thing was a fluke and so stupid because they didn’t even have a solid base of doing do (ok, mostly Raven didn’t have a solid base of doing so) and the whole hate thing was only just them being unable to communicate with each other (mostly Raven again).

The one star this review has is half because of the snu snu and half because of Nash. As much as I feel like I can’t grasp the situation of him being close to a psychopath who genuinely likes killing people, I still find myself liking him and the way that he was perhaps the only character that did decent things. His love for Raven is genuine, something I cannot say for Raven’s love for Nash.

He was willing to forgive and forget all that she did and start dating her. He does things to protect her, his POVs are filled with his care for her, his worry for her. I have to say though, it was quite sad that young him accepted the lie his father told him and hated her for it. But at the same time, he was young and was heartbroken. I guess he accepted the ONLY explanation for her leaving that was given to him.

I think Cheveliers (however you spell it) are such over the top. And I think the whole mysterious, cool, dark atmosphere that Blackwood wanted to describe around them was lost to me. Nash is NOT an antihero! He enjoys killing and the people he’s probably killed didn’t even do enough to warrant themselves to be killed. That’s why I feel the whole group is just so fake and I just can’t take them seriously. I can’t understand their reason for even banding together like? What’s the purpose of this “secret society”?

Raven. Uff. I hate her. She’s just a complete and utter idiot. I was really hoping that she had a bloody good reason to doing all that she did. But damn. Did she fall even further down from grace in my eyes. Like girl, you left the love of your life for money? Like you needed money so bad? You wanted to go to uni so you could be with him, so you needed money, but you took the money and left him? Let’s not even talk about the whole escort situation because what was that even? She was willing to cheat as if it was the most natural thing and I didn’t hear remorse in her voice at all. Her reason was stupid!

I would’ve liked her more, and the whole plot if her life was threatened, or Nash’s was. But no, it had something to do with something stupid and it was so so stupid of her to choose money over Nash, who might I remind you said in the previous book that he was waiting for him to get his trust find access at 21 so that he could but her a new car. This guy deserves better

I feel so bad for Nash. He’s in all this mess because of her.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I should have stayed gone. But I was lured back by the promise of getting closure. Now I'm being held captive by my ex who has no intention of letting me go. He believes he knows everything about me. But what he doesn't know is that I have a secret. And I intend to take it to the grave.

This is the second book in the Brentson University Series from Bri Blackwood. This is a dark college romance trilogy and you need to read the first book, Devious Game or you will be very lost. You will also need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book since it might contain triggers for some readers.
I could not wait to get this book in my hands after the ending of Devious Games. This book picks up right where Devious Games left off and I couldn't wait to be back in the world of Brentson University. I could not wait to be back with Nash and Raven because the way book one ended I knew this book was already going to be so good. However, with that said it was so good and so much more intense and darker than the Devious Games.
Nash has without her permission though, from Brentson University. However he had his reasons for doing this and the main one was to protect her from whoever is out to get her. His solution is to whisk her away to a cabin out in the middle of nowhere where he is hoping they can get their relationship back on track and repair the damage that they have both done to themselves. He wants his second chance and is super determined to get it. After all he knows without a shadow of a doubt that she is the one and has known this since he met her many years ago. If he has to pull out all the stops to get the job done he is willing to do whatever it takes. She means everything to him and you just don't let that go. Raven however has danger coming at her in every direction that she turns and she doesn't know who she can trust. Including Nash. After all she knows way to many secrets that people will want kept that way at all cost and his actions at the Cavalier's mansion proved to her that she needed to get as far away from everyone to keep herself breathing. However the failed attempt to flee ends up with her being in the one place she had not intention of being and that place is a remote cabin with Nash. But once you feel betrayed can you put that out of your mind and relationship and get back to who you were before it happened. Well, I can't tell you that. But, I can tell you that this book was so much more than I thought it would be and so much more than I was expecting. You are hooked and reading like crazy from the first chapter to the end. I loved that we got to experience with Nash and Raven grow so much in their relationship and individually too. I loved everything about this book, but holy moley the cliffhanger was one I didn't see coming and now I need that third book like I need air in my lungs. If you have not started this series I recommend that you do it. This is a series you do not want to miss.

OMG This Series Is Awesome And Intense!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review

This is a combined review of Devious Game and Devious Secret because I binge read them and let me tell you these books are freaking awesome. These are my first reads by Bri Blackwood and she has created some intense characters in this series. I absolutely love that she has kept you literally guessing as to what the main FMC is keeping a secret making it seam like a mystery that will blow your mind when it’s revealed.

This is Raven and Nash’s story and it is an intense one to say the least. These two are high school sweethearts and were madly in love with each other even though they come from two totally different upbringings. But something happens their senior year and Raven is forced to leave without saying a word once they graduate forgoing all the plans they had made together. But when she’s once again forced to return Nash tries his hardest to continue to hate her and not want her but when you’re meant to be you’re meant to be.

There’s a lot that happens to these two and between these two during these two books and they definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s lots of secrets and betrayals and even a secret society. It’s packed full of mystery and danger and the chemistry between these two is off the charts. Devious Game ends on a minor cliffy but Devious Secret now that is one heck of a cliffhanger OMG I am not ok with that. I am going to be anxiously awaiting the next book to this because I have seriously got to know what happens. Definitely recommend this book and this entire series!! Absolutely fantastic!!

I received an ARC for an honest review

Author’s note: there are triggers, so please head the content warning

Book two picks up where book one ends and it will not disappoint.

Our heroine Raven has been kidnapped by our anti-hero Nash, he says it’s for her own good, but she doesn’t know why

The tension is palpable between them, forget foreplay, because when they come together, let’s just say those smutty scenes will set your kindle on fire!

Raven attempts an escape, however Nash follows through with a decadent punishment

They both have secrets, afraid of how the other will act, but the most frightening thing they come to realise is that they are both in love, with each other and don’t know how to act on this, together, and this game, it has turned into something more.

Nash begins to question things when they don’t add up, and Raven denies any involvement with his father

The trials with the Chevaliers is ramping up, as Raven begins to suspect that more is afoot, causing Nash to become possessive

When Raven reveals what bought her back to Brentson and the reason why she left to begin with, it leaves Nash in a state of disbelief, but more-so the bombshell that is dropped rocking Raven to the core, giving her more questions than answers.

AND LET’S TALK ABOUT THAT EXPLOSIVE CLIFFHANGER and the betrayal Nash never saw coming…..

Devious Secret by Bri Blackwood.

Thank you Bri Blackwood for the ARC!

Devious Secret was the book for reconnection. Nash and Raven needed time for understanding and to rebuild. Some secrets were shared; more questions were posed, especially with that ending. Now once again I’m eagerly waiting for the next book. Another win by Bri Blackwood.

“No, but every time you run, I’m going to find you.”

“You wanted my attention. You got it.”

“The way he kept me riding a knife’s edge between pain and pleasure was making it impossible to think, I could only feel.”

"You loved having me chase you, didn't
you? Me claiming you as mine?"
"I'm not yours, Nash. I was once but not anymore."
"That's where you're wrong, Little Bird. And I'm willing to bet that was one of the reasons why you came back to Brentson. You were flying
back home. To me.”

“Fantastic sex and then a head massage after? What more could I ask for?” <— what dreams are made of!!

Picking up where Devious Games left off. Nash has kidnapped Raven and taken her away from Brentwood University away to his family's cabin in the outskirts of town. I mean I understand why he did it, but his delivery was terrible.

Nash knew that Raven wasn't going to be happy be he would rather keep her safe and ask for forgiveness later. With nothing to do but accept her fate Raven adjusts to her new temporary normal. although she fights Nash tooth and nail to go home, she understands that someone is out to get her. That same someone is responsible for luring her back into town under the guise of getting answers about her mother.

Nash and Raven clear the air about things that happened in the past and Nash knows that he can trust Raven more than he can trust the words that come from his own father's lips. Someone wants to keep Nash and Raven apart. Someone doesn't want Raven to find out the truth. The closer Raven and Nash get to uncovering the truth something else gets in the way.

Get prepared for Angst, Steam, Suspense and a shocking heart stopping Cliffhanger on this wild ride with Raven and Nash.

WOW JUST WOW! I read a lot, and I read trilogies all the time, so let me tell you, there are times when the middle of a trilogy can slow things down a bit (not saying all of them, just saying there are times when that happens), but Devious Secret totally picked up speed. I spent the whole time devouring it (in one sitting mind you) while on the edge of my seat since it came out of the gate at a dead run & never slowing down. Of course since it is the second book in Nash & Raven's journey, I'm not inclined to give any sort of detail away since it could be possible spoilers for the first book, which you must read first. I know the secrets are more intense (even deadly to be honest) leading to new questions, the twists are definitely coming in hot like you wouldn't believe, the danger keeps the heart racing, and the angst levels will try to destroy your heart, so just an all around good time for us. I absolutely LOVE Bri Blackwood's writing style which is highly addictive that's for sure (don't try to start this book before bed), but I will say the cliffhanger was brutal as they come so I'm very much dying inside for more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

So this book picked up write were it ended and Nash's behavior gets more intense and controlled but it all gets explained his ruthlessness and why he hated Raven but when you here who told him those lies well I wondered for such a smart guy considering the source how did he fall for it he can't stand this person but I was glad to see Nash clue in on the lies so one good thing came from him kidnapping Raven. And just as Raven and Nash get closer and she's willing to come clean about her secrets well always and I mean always be weary of anyone that comes bearing gifts of secrets and Nash why did you open the door gah.
Raven has finally reached her boiling point with Nash and his behavior I mean he's kinda taken the protective thing a little far death and a kidnapping well its his love language I guess. The most interesting thing about this book series so far is the mysterious Cavaliers Ravens mom and secrets she may have taken to the grave so I can't wait to see how the author ties everything up in the next book.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review. I also bought a copy of this book as well.

I’m sorry that ended?!?!? Bri! I was not at all expecting 1. That twist!! And the crossover 👌🏻👌🏻 but 2. The ending! Now I have to wait for book 3!

Devious secrets is book 2 in the Brenston University series and is not a stand-alone, it picks right back up from the ending of book 1 (Devious Games). It’s a duel POV book between the 2 main characters Nash & Raven.

The angry that Nash has following the events of book 1 was dark and in all honestly I was starting to hate him in this book and was waiting for the opportunity for Raven to leave him but again comes in with the redeeming qualities and seeing everything from his side created an love/hate relationship. And the tropes covered in this book was perfect!

But still we’re still rooting for the Raven and Nash before graduation love story to continue and we’re unravelling some of the secrets kept between them. Their chemistry is perfect, hot and controlling!

And I’m still gripped to my seat needing more answers…..anyone else creates a list of theories?

Whhhaaaaattttt An Ending!!!!

This is the second book in this series and cannot be read as a standalone as Book 1 and this Book both end on a cliffhanger. This book was dark, secretive, steamy, dramatic, sweet, suspenseful and a rollercoaster of emotions! I could not put this book down! I definitely was not expecting that cliffhanger ending! There are also trigger warnings, so be sure to check those out before reading.

I loved how Nash and Raven both were able to have alone time with each other to work out their feelings. What started as hating each other, quickly turned into a realization for both of them that the love they shared was still there, just buried deep under all the pain and hurt. I loved that Nash was so protective of Raven and that she started opening up to him.

I seriously cannot wait for the next book to come out. I had a bad feeling about that one person, but then his comment had me thinking differently, just to turn around and yell “WWWWHHHHAAAATTTT?!?” to the book. I love Bri’s books and I have yet to read one I don’t like.

This is the 2nd book in this incredible trilogy, and this story continues straight on from where the first book ended. Raven having been lured back to town by some unknown person under the guise of getting answers about her mother. Nash has kidnapped Raven and he has no intension of letting her go, as this is the only way to keep her safe and protected. Raven is strong and determined, while Nash’s life is becoming more complex. Someone is trying to keep Nash and Raven apart and does not want her to find out the truth. This story ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to read the concluding part of this brilliant trilogy. This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, intense, and intriguing, with suspense, danger, twist, secrets, tension, angst, mystery, trust, family, friendships, truths, fun, and love, which leads to a steamy and riveting page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

As we continue with Nash and Raven's story we see their evolving. Nash is struggling with how he feels he is starting to care for her but doesn't know if he can trust her is she lying or is his father. Feels like he knows why her name was in his envelope. Raven wants to hate Nash but she is falling in Love with him again but is still keeping so many secrets. Who is after her and why and what happened to her mother. I loved the push and pull between them as well as Raven knows just how to push his buttons and it was fun to see him lose control. Then we get more twists as we have some truths come out and some secrets that are starting to be revealed. It was also wonderful to have the cross family security pulled into the series but the twist they brought with them was wow. Then when we think things are coming together bam we are hit with that crazy cliffhanger. I Just can't wait for the next book. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

This book has layers of secrets all over the place. Enough to suck you in and wish for answers.

Raven is stubborn, sassy, emotional, and secretive. Nash is....a lot. In the best of ways.

I read this book and the second book back to back, so this is a bit of a combo. I liked the set up, she has to leave and can't say why. He is heartbroken and turns hard and angry in her absence. When she is lured back to town and runs into him, almost immediately, he doesn't handle it well.

We learn he knows a secret about her and starts blackmailing her with it to force her to spend time with him and have a lot of hate-sex, which is amazing.

But then he finds out there is a threat against her, so he does everything he can to protect her. Even kidnapping her.

We finally start to get some answers at the end of book 2, but then you get a whole lot more questions with the cliffhanger that happens. I'm excited to see where it goes from here!

Devious Secret picked where Devious Game ended and did not disappoint. I was excited to see what happened after the first book ended, since it ended on such a big cliffhanger.

The book begins with Nash holding Raven captive after she ran away at the end of the first book. He takes them to a cabin that was left to him and his sister by their grandfather so he can figure out what is going on and who is trying to hurt Raven. Whilst at this cabin, it forced Raven and Nash to face the issues and anger they harbored for one another.

Most of this book was centered on the rebuilding of Nash and Raven’s relationship, which I appreciated and found essential. It was important for them to come to face their issues with each other as well as reflect and come to terms with the feelings they still had for each other, despite everything they have been through. It was great to see them finally communicate and be open with each other. I can’t wait to read the third book because the way this book ended, I couldn’t believe it.

Oh Wow!! I love Raven and Nash 🖤 They’re so amazing together!! I’m so heartbroken 💔 that they were pulled apart in Devious Game!! Someone is definitely pulling some strings behind the scenes. I’m so glad that Raven and Nash actually got to communicate in this book. They were able to be a little honest with each other. Not completely though!! There are still secrets, lies and danger at play!! Raven had a reason for taking off on Nash out of the blue. He didn’t understand and let his anger get the best of him. He wanted to make Raven pay. Now that he’s had the chance to talk to Raven, her and Nash realize they still have that same love for each other ♥️ There are still some things that are keeping Nash and Raven apart. WHEW THAT CLIFFHANGER……
I can’t wait for Book 3 🤗
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 💙🖤

I can't begin to say enough good things about Devious Secret, to say I was anxiously awaiting this second book is putting it mildly. This dark story delivered so much devious goodness so if you are into this kind of story then you MUST read this series. The hero Nash definitely has some disturbing qualities but it doesn't stop you in rooting for him and Raven to reconcile.

This book definitely comes with a trigger warning as their is murder and kidnapping but if you can handle that plus steamy goodness, a second chance at love, disfunctional families, football and oh so much more then Devious Game and Devious Secret are the books for you. There is a major exciting cliffhanger but please don't let that hold you back from reading this series as it really just makes these books all the more exciting. I am beyond ecstatic and I can't wait to read the next book! Happy Reading!

I know a secret! I’m, also, plagued with dozens of questions….mainly all “what the ___ ?!” Fill in the blank at your leisure, you probably aren’t wrong with whatever you guess.

Looking at Nash and Raven’s story thus far, I get that “one step forward, two steps back” idiom bubbling. Right when those two start to make amends, someone or something that just has to complicate the already complicated. Guh! BUT, with the fresh “what the” that I just got slapped with, the surprise cameo from a well known Cross Chevalier (that society, has its own six “what the”-s,) and Nash’s dirty mouth… I’m happy to be back on this cliff with my wild imagination (which is hamster wheeling over that ending) to keep me company until Devious Heir is released.

Devious Secret is fantastic. This is book two and must read in book order. I love how this picks up right where the first one left off with Nash and Raven. Nash has a lot of anger and a lot of secrets he holds close. Raven has never told Nash the real reason she left and now is faced with all the anger that has been held in Nash now she is back. Danger lurks and there is an unknown force bringing them together again. I love how things slowly unravel and how close Raven and Nash become. There is this fantastic chemistry and an air of mystery that will keep you glued to the pages. The cliffhanger left me wanting more now. I cannot wait for the next book in the Brentson University series. I could not get enough of this one.

This story just keeps getting better and better! We pick up exactly where book one left off - from Nash’s POV and dealing with the fallout from abducting Raven after what she saw 👀 at the Chevaliers mansion.

The emotions in this book are spot on and I loved how they developed so naturally. There were a few spicy scenes that really kicked up the spice levels, and 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I just love a man who follows through on his threats.

The secrets, deceit, lies, twists and mystery in this book are well done, and I was NOT prepared for that ending! Can’t wait for the next book!
