Lanterns

We all struggle sometimes. Some days life is indeed difficult, especially when we are incapable of finding hope and strength in moments of those difficulties, and to rise through them we all need that small ray of light that could brighten up our path, to remind us that the darkness is really temporary. This book through its pages of printed words tries to give the readers a sense of hope, a gentle way of understanding, the courage to move on and ultimately finding strength and hope within the self. All the quotes, prose and poems in this book are symbolized as small lanterns to guide the readers through their hard times into a world of hope where they can be assured of their unique value and treat themselves with gentleness, kindness and love.

I don't usually read poetry, but I was drawn to the book due to instagram. Some good material, few of the poems struck a chord...though I think it was simply because it was what I needed in the moment. Some of the poems were quite plain.

Cute short texts as if they were ephemeral thoughts that leaves us thinking for a while. Some of them quite simple for my taste, but can maybe help someone that doesn't know how to articulate how they're feeling. It's good that it's divided into different chapters, leading to a happy conclusion, going from heartbreak to hope and purpose in new seasons & changes.

The font is quite a bit too small for my short sighted taste...
Also I wonder why it is so hard to find texts about heartbreak that talk about the person who made the decision to leave.

A little bit more emotional than "You Matter", this book did help me get through a rough time in my life. It's nice to read kind words and know that sometimes the craziness of the world you go through, you don't go through alone. That there are strangers out there who experience the same thing and can relate to you so well.

Touching and inspiring

This is my second collection from Dhiman. I enjoyed You Matter more--it seemed to have a more urgent tone in general in the collection--but I found these pieces touching and inspiring. A few poems were brand new I thought, in the way they considered or treated their material. A nice collection.

Note my favourite poetry book but a few good ones in it. Don't plan on rereading it again will be donating.
