Was looking for a book on mindfulness and this came the closest. This book wraps up all the Japanese tenets of living happily and consciously but I felt it was too basic. I suggest reading just the first half of the book because the latter half delves into subject matters - yoga, tai chi, mandalas - that seemed irrelevant and reductive.
If you read this book, read it and don’t get the audiobook. The narrator reads the book almost too happily, like a kid reading a wish list at the candy store.
I found the book very useful and practical, providing many valuable pieces of information and philosophies that have benefited my life in a positive way. However, I felt that the last few chapters were unnecessary and didn't fit well with the rest of the book. Also, I felt that the subject matter was all over the place from chapter to chapter. Solid read, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to better themselves or try to discover their purpose.
