I thank the author for an opportunity to read this book advance and it's my honest review.

When i read the synopsis, i was like, Damn!! This one is gonna be one hell of a ride and indeed, it was.

5 -⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

~ Slow burn
~ Forbidden love
~ Witches/Shifters/Angels
~ Witty banters
~ Modern era with twists and turns
~ Magic/Curses
~ Chase/Fights
~ Hurt/Comfort
~ Third Person POV

I enjoyed the story and loved every scene. Bell is more like sassy, funny and strongheaded so Brax is grumpy, brooding, and moody. So just imagine how the story would be with those two.

It starts with Bell who was accidentally killed Seelie King by not getting herself killed by him. Before he died, he cursed her that his court would hunt and kill her. After seven years, his curse came to fruition when she aged twenty-one. Bell was almost killed by a Seelie when a band of Angels came to her rescue. Brax and his friends planned to break her curse by meeting powerful shifters in the city but trouble found her wherever she goes, when she all wants to get rid of curse. At last, finally she found a way to break it but at a terrible cost. That curse transferred to her sister, Beth.

It was a quick, fast paced Adult paranormal romance series. The plot was filled with chasing, fight sequence, shifters, jesters, and romance. It was hilarious between Bell and band of Angels. They're soo funny and witty and flirty. The side characters are amazing. Bell and Brax has a push and pull vibes. I laughed at the last couple of chapters. I mean, fight scene plus banter.

Overall, it was a good book with a interesting plot. I finished it in a day. I'd totally recommend the book.

Book 2 would be about Beth POV since the curse transferred to her and i think we'd still see Bell POV 'cause a new problem threathens her and Brax.

Nothing spoils Halloween like accidentally killing a faerie king.
Now it’s her 21st birthday and it turns out it was not a case of bad candy and her imagination when she was 14 years old.
Cursed to be tracked down and killed, Bell navigates this new world of fae, shifters, and angels. Protective, dutiful, sweep-you-off-your-feet angels.
”You're absolutely unlike any other human I've ever met. Enraging a witch queen one minute, stealing a high-end artifact the next. All the while with an attitude that would make a priest curse."

Of course, there’s smouldering romance and oh, is it sinful, is it worth it, is it against the divine etc?

”To hell with the sins. Drown me in them, Bell."

Also, I love the ADHD representation and the sisterly bonds. The banter and snark is top tier making it such a fun read - definitely a good Halloween recommendation!

I would recommend this to fans of Crescent City, ACOTAR, and City of Gods and Monsters.

I received an Arc and boy did I love it. I read this in one sitting. I devoured this book. It was fun, funny and action packed. Our main character Bell is witty, smart and isn’t afraid to stand up to anyone. Brax is broody and protective and I absolutely adored their chemistry. I’ve never read a book that had Angels let alone a romance with one.

I am a sucker for a group of loyal friends. The band of Angels were absolutely chef kisses. Their dynamic and banter with each other was top notch along with their individual friendship with Bell.

I actually ended up loving this book more than I originally thought. I can not wait for book 2.

Plot: Bell has an encounter with two Faerie Kings on Halloween when she is 13 years old. She was cursed after killing one of the Kings. On her 21st birthday the curse is visible and she begins to be hunted by the court of Faeries whose King she killed. Bell is then thrown into the supernatural world she never knew existed. Desperate to break the curse and resume her ordinary life, Bell meets Brax and his band of Angels. Together they try to break the curse and fight the feelings that are blossoming between them. Will they break the curse?

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

Wow this book was fun!! Bell is a sarcastic, sassy, foul mouthed female MC who seems to accidentally get herself out of sticky situations by killing and maiming supernatural beings 😂 She is honestly such a fun character to read about and I love her so much!
This is book one in the start of a series based on the Vossen sisters and it has:
-A paranormal world with a modern twist
-A hot grumpy angel that has to keep her safe
-Forbidden romance
-A band of teasing angels
-A curse no one can break
-2.5/5 spice (2 main scenes)- lots of tension and banter too!
-Sisterhood
-Powerful witches
-Family secrets
-A judgemental cat

If you like any of these things or just want a fun new adult paranormal read with a bit of spice, then you should definitely add this book to your reading list!!

I am super excited for the next book, which seems like it will be a beauty and the beast style retelling with one of the other sisters, Beth! I only got to see her from Bell’s POV and I’m interested to see what Beth is like with her own POV

**I received this book as an ARC**

This is the debut novel for Piper Knight, and reading this book you would never know this! The storyline in this series is absolutely amazing so far. The character development for all of the characters, and not just the MCs was on point. There was never a dull moment. I cannot wait to see what happens next in book 2.

🌶0.5/5

First, I want to say thank you to Piper for giving me an arc of her book in exchange for an honest review.

The Accidental Kingslayer is about a young girl, Bell, who happens upon a chance encounter with two fae kings on Halloween and comes out of the night cursed and with a bounty on her lavender head. What follows are her adventures and misadventures to get rid of her curse and free herself once and for all.

Bell is such a kick-ass FMC and I love her fiery attitude. Even in the face of fear she’s so brave and ready to do whatever she needs to in order to save herself and her friends and family. She may be a human, but she discovers her own powers and strength along the way, even if they aren’t magical. She’s such a strong main character and I admired her more and more throughout the book.

Brax is our MMC and resident grumpy pants helping Bell get rid of her curse and solve the case. Brax is an angel and has such a strong moral compass but finds himself continually forced to follow his friends’ and Bell’s troublesome plans (it’s hilarious 😂). I honestly loved how Piper depicted angels in this one. They very much follow traditional structure and lore (which is a very interesting and complex structure, but she did it well), but what I love more is how she incorporated them with other supernaturals so effortlessly and fluidly.

I think something that some might not enjoy, but I definitely did, is the whimsical element Piper flawlessly wove into this story. There’s plenty of silly moments and lines but they’re done SO well (sometimes authors can miss the mark with that) and the ways she incorporated these elements made it so magically whimsical, almost like she captured the wickedness and scary side of the supernatural and faeries, but also wove it so perfectly with the whimsy we knew of these creatures as kids. AMAZING! I’m absolutely DYING for book two already!

This magical new adult fantasy romance is just addicting! I’m always a fan of banter between characters and reading about fae, angels, witches, and other magical beings, and The Accidental Kingslayer has that - and more. Add in some high stakes action, brewing romance, and a hint of fantasy court political intrigue, and you’re in for a totally bingeable read.

Highly recommend if you are a fan of:

I want to start this by saying thank you to the author for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. The main character Bell is this spitfire, super messy, really funny character who honestly I’d love to be friends with. She tends to do what she wants, even if it lands her in some really sticky situations (like literally all the time). She sees herself as the black sheep of the family and a failure but in reality she has more in common with her family than she thinks. She really is this dynamic character just trying to follow her dreams and I love that about her.

I also loved the whole band of angels (who doesn’t love a protective band of winged men). Braxiel is probably my favorite but Zade comes in a close second.

Overall I loved this book. I think it had a really nice flow, the chapter titles were great, and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

For years, Bell Vossen believed the Halloween night of nightmares, in which she accidentally killed an elf-like creature and was cursed, never happend and was just a cruel imagined event. But then, on her twenty-first birthday, a vengeful faerie tracks her down and inform her the curse is not only real, but the whole faerie-kingdom will come after her to kill her in pursuit of the crown. So when a band of handsome angels come to Bell's rescue, she thinks things are turning out for the better. But breaking curses is very difficult, especially if the paranormal world is very new to you.

Pro's:
+ I love the way this novel goes from Urban to Paranormal, it feels like it is quite gradually moving from one perspective to the next. It was fun and it was really well done as it felt very natural, making it very easy to follow the story along.
+ There is a lot of humor in this book and the sass of the main character make this one very fun and lighter read. The banter and the taunting of enemies was fun and this lifted a lot of the darker scenes in this book.

Con's:
- The main character is the postergirl of the depressed, misunderstood gothic girl and I felt like that missed the mark a little bit. Of course she get's better when the male hero enters the scene, but it was bit eye-rollingy predictable.

This was a light and fun read and for a book like this that was quite unexpected. I figured it would be a lot heavier, as this is the introduction into a world, but even though it was dark it was also surprisingly fun and light. The romance between Bell and Braxiel was fine, it could have been better. The story is supported by a lot of humor and fun dialogue and there are some fun scenes that make this book easy to read. The main character is very predictable and the way she is portraid make her very easy to read and get through. However, there are loads of options for upcoming books and I think the next book will also be a fun and interesting read, which I will definitely pick up.

On the night of Halloween, Bell accidentally kills a faerie king. Now on her 21st birthday, she discovers she is cursed by the faerie king and is being hunted by his court. Bell discovers that witches, faeries, angels, shifters, and vampires are all real, and is relying on Braxiel, a gorgeous warrior Angel to protect her and help her break the curse.

The Accidental Kingslayer is a wonderful debut novel that is so fun to read and is the perfect adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy book for fall/spooky season. The writing and story draws you in from the first page and this is such an enjoyable read with witchy vibes.

Bell is a very relatable character to me. She’s brash, impulsive, and sometimes you just want to shake her but you love her anyway. I felt for her in so many of the situations she was in and enjoyed her character growth throughout the story.

I’m a sucker for a winged, protective love interest so I was a big fan of Braxiel and his and Bell’s relationship. I also enjoyed the relationship dynamic between Braziel & his friends, and how they treated Bell and their banter with her. I want more!

My favorite aspect of this book was the mission to break Bell’a curse. We got to meet so many different characters & species, and we really explored the supernatural politics and hierarchy of the world. Bell discovers so many family secrets that had me surprised and I can’t wait for book 2.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance and is looking for a great book to read in the fall.

Some things you can expect from this book:
✨Slow burn romance with some spice
✨Forbidden romance
✨Adult paranormal romance
✨Witches, vampires, angels, & shifters
✨Supernatural politics and hierarchy

Spice: 🌶.5/5

The FMC is the youngest of three sisters, and she seems to be the slightly bratty one who can do nothing right, but she isn’t unlucky so much as self-sabotaging. Seven years ago, she followed a will o’ the wisp to an illicit meeting of faeries and got more than she bargained for. She escaped with her life, and the ominous words of a faerie king’s curse. The MMC is a supernatural guardian—more like law enforcement really—who appears to her the day after her twenty-first birthday. Turns out that weird incident she’s been trying to forget for all these years wasn’t actually a hallucination, and that curse just took effect. The faeries are congregating in her Pacific Northwest town with one goal in mind—killing the FMC to gain the faerie crown. The MMC and his jolly band of followers has to shuffle her around town from place to place trying to find a way to break the curse, but in the end, all she needed was to come clean to Mom and Big Sis and let the power of their ancient witch blood save them. Awww 🥰 (Actually this isn’t 100% true, FMC had to learn how to call on her ancestors for a power upgrade, but she could’ve done that at home if she’d asked Mom for help!)

3.5 ⭐️ 0.5 🌶

I found this book on TikTok. Piper Knight you know how to market let me tell you. I would say the TikTok’s were a little misleading. I was not expecting the humor this book had. I can’t tell you how many times I chuckled, but asked myself wtf am I reading. I was expecting a hot, smutty book. That is not this. This book is a light, humorous, with .5 smut rating. I would rate it 3.5 stars, but a 4 will do. I will say I’m interested in the next book because I love Fae men. This book was a trip, I’ve never read anything like it.

An exciting story

When the book starts with introducing 2 Fae kings named Na Na and Nae Nae you kind of have to ask what ridiculousness you're getting into. However, while it does hold a good sense of humor, it has a lot more depth and plot than I was expecting. Honestly, the whole supernatural world set up from the angels to their witchy ancestors was done really well. I loved the band of Angels who were a fun group, and the characters as a whole. My main issue was the love story side. Bell comes across as rather selfish and pushy for something she knows could destroy him. She doesn't want him to make sacrifices but constantly pushes him into corners where he'll have to. It's extremely frustrating.

An interesting premise with interesting paranormal elements. I liked the brotherhood between the angels. However, I did feel like this book was somewhat predictable with cheesy dialogue. I think elements of this could have been spread out into another book as I felt some of this was rushed. I will admit that this is a read perfect for Halloween/Autumn as it definitely fits with the vibe. I am intrigued to see what happens next in the series.

The Accidental Kingslayer by Piper Knight

Accidentally killing a faerie king on Halloween is the worst.

What a roller coaster ride! One with fun, action, laughter, magic, supernatural powers and a slow burn romance ending with a twist. I can't wait for the next book.

The author had me hooked with the plot, writing, characters (damn! They were brilliant and oh so lovable). This had witches, shifters, angels, vampires all in the urban world. I liked how it was an urban fantasy, paranormal story.

Bell, she is feisty, strong, and such a kick-ass character. However sometimes such characters feel like a disappointment and what happens when she accidentally kills a faerie king and gets cursed is a journey to take.

Brax is moody, grump warrior angel but gosh he is so perfectly flawed and vulnerable. I loved both of them, their witty banter and the pull that comes them bringing closer.

I finished this in a day and enjoyed the intresting vibes this had with strong family, loyal friendships and a forbidden romance (thought it wasn't the highlight of the book).

Go ahead to get this debut novel, I highly recommend it.

☆ "I can't let you sin for me."
★ "To hell with the sins. Drown me in them, Bell."

Ahh probably my favorite quotes in this book.
This was such a fun story to read. Bell is such a cool character that I loved from the start. She's so relatable. Present day, she's now 21, but when she was 14 she came across something she wasn't ment to see that Halloween night. Something that would change her life forever, but she didn't realize it until 7 years later. A curse is placed on her, but not activated till her 21st birthday. Now she's seeing the world in a different perspective. One that's making her question her sanity for a minute.
I mean vampires, shifters, faeries, witches, angels. Stuff from fantasy books and movies. Right?
.
Braxiel, a fallen archangel, is in the search of the kingslayer. Following leads he comes across a mortal girl who he believes knows who the kingslayer is. Unknowingly to him. He's looking at her.
.
I really enjoyed the whole aspect of this story, the action, the suspense of finding out who Bell really is, and the slow burn forbidden romance.
I can't wait for book 2.
The Accidental Kingslayer is part of a new trilogy, it'll be released October 3rd.
Highly recommend this read.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Pipers debut novel and I loved it! It was such a fun, fast paced read.

The FMC Bell is the black sheep within her family, she doesn't shy away from confrontation or danger. She's sassy and sarcastic. The MC Braxiel is a tall broody angel who is tasked with keeping the FMC safe. Tension and slow burn is the name of the game here.

The plot and pace was amazing, there was never a dull moment. There were plot twists I wasn't expecting and I cannot wait for book two! This is a perfect spooky season read for someone who loves a good fun rom-comy feel!

“I can’t let you sin for me”
“To hell with sins, Drown me in them Bell”

I wanted a Halloween book but also make it fantasy…insert this book. It was everything I needed to get myself out of my October reading slump. I picked it up on a whim and am so glad I did! Bell is such a fun and relatable character right from the start, and who doesn’t love a winged morally grey-ish MMC. A curse is places on Bell when she was 14, but it is not activated until her 21st birthday. She is now seeing the world differently, and is questioning everything she has ever known.

Insert Braxiel, a fallen angle working in his second chance. He is sworn to help those against supernatural forces, and together they have to try and break her curse. I enjoyed everything about this story, and cannot wait for book 2 and to get to know Bells sister more!

This is the debut by Author Piper Knight. Even though this is her first published book, you would never know by reading it. this book was an outstanding first in the series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest!

This follows Bell who is one of 3 sisters. Bell has always felt like an outsider and has a very contentious relationship with her other sisters. When Bell was a young girl, an accident happened in the forest on Halloween night. She was cursed but no one believed her story. Now, years after the incident, bell is seeing things that shouldn't exist and is being hunted by Fae....Can she survive or is she just going crazy?????

OH MERCY.....This book grabbed me from the beginning and I was sucked into everything this book is. The world that Piper Knight has built is complex and fantastical! I love the magic and creatures. The angels in this series are my favorite and Brax has stolen my heart. I love Bell and Brax together. I am loving their banter, sarcastic comments and back and forth bickering. The sexual tension is off the charts HOT! All of the side characters were interesting and I hope to see them in future books. This book truly has it all....Enemies, friends, magic and crazy mystical beings, stained relationships, and best of all a HEA but with a twist. Please pick this book up and check out what all the fuss is about. The book is amazing and can't wait to see where Piper takes us! This book gets 5 stars.

"To hell with sins. Drown me in them, Bell."

When Bell Vossen accidentally kills the Faerie king of the Seelie court one Halloween, she puts it down to tainted candy, and hallucinations, but seven years later, as she turns twenty-one, faeries begin hunting her down, with the King's curse luring them to her, and the crown of the Seelie court up for grabs, Bel's only hope of survival lays with the insufferably stoic, angelic fire warrior, Braxiel whose sworn to guard mortals against the supernatural.

Bell is witty, sarcastic, and just utterly fierce, she refuses to shy away from speaking her mind, often to a fault, and is exceptionally hard-headed. She's gutsy, and doesn't allow anyone else to take over and make decisions for her, and her life, despite the consequences that can come from them, and has a particularly predilection for getting herself into sticky and dangerous situations, when left unchecked. Having always been the black sheep, alongside her more creative and academically leaning older sister, whilst dealing with her parent's divorce, and her mother's reliance on alcohol to cope with her legacy, and life in general, Bell has an intense thirst and determination to prove herself as worthy, and capable of taking care of herself, and making her own mistakes, without needing to be rescued, even if those around her continuously undermine and underestimate her. Bell is resourceful, and wily, and just a lot of fun to embark on this journey with.

Braxiel, our fire angel warrior on the other hand is stoic, serene and leader of the Aurora City band of angels, tasked with protecting mortals from supernatural threats. He's grumpy and unflappable, he follows the Divine principles rigidly, and is an absolute pain in Bell's ass, his protection, in her eyes, is unneeded and way to restrictive for her tastes., Bell is steadfast and determined to have a say and an active involvement in the breaking of this curse, and if she gets under Braxiel's skin whilst she's at it... so much the better. Bell's resolved to have some fun, even if she's stuck with this grumpy, ethereal, and insanely beautiful angel as her protector.

This was such an easy read, but also so captivating. I adored the interactions between Bell and Braxiel, the tension is slow-burn which made it all the more intense, fun and exciting to read. 'The Accidental Kingslayer' has high stakes, witty banter, and is just an absolutely epic and wonderful escape. Brimming with dangerous fae, deadly curses, and broody, handsome angels, all built upon a world with a unique perspective on the supernatural creatures and races we all know and love. It's highly enjoyable, and enrapturing, with a powerful, brave and steadfast FMC whose relatable, rebellious, witty and somewhat reckless at the helm. At it's heart though, it's a beautiful story about the power of bonds, and love of family. It does leave you on a cliff-hanger though, so get ready to be invested in your new favourite sibling trio, and their accidental, dangerous, and exciting adventures with various supernatural entities.

Okay so I had SO much fun with this book!
I haven’t read banter that was so well executed in a very long time! I had so much fun with the main character Bell and the tension between her and Brax was amazing! This book had me gripped from the start. I’m someone who is pretty picky with my reading and I tend to struggle to find books that fit my tastes but as I said, this one had me hooked from the beginning. I nearly finished it all in one night and would have but sadly I am not an Angel who can go days without sleep *sigh*.

*Characters: 7/10
The characters were all very fun and diverse and interesting. My only complaint is that aside from Bell’s family and Brax, the other characters didn’t feel as well developed. The band of angels mostly felt like copies of each other.

*Dialogue: 10/10
The banter was SO perfect and always placed in the best places. Bell was the right amount of sarcastic without being too much.

*Magic System: 8/10
I feel like the magic we did see was so interesting and I absolutely loved how it was unique to each species or even group of people! My only complaint is that I wish we could have delved into it more. Hopefully we will with the other books!

*World: 9/10
I personally loved all the mix mash of creatures (especially the vampires 😉). I know it won’t be for everyone but I loved how they didn’t stray too far from folklore. It really felt almost comforting to see all of these beloved creatures (besides the werewolves) reflect what I’ve known throughout the years. I do hope we can explore more of the faeries because out of them all, they were the most mysterious and intriguing to me.

*Romance: 8/10
The tension was ON POINT. I absolutely loved it so much! Piper really did that with Brax and Bell. The only thing I had an issue with was that while their physical chemistry was paced perfectly, I felt like the emotional chemistry was just a bit rushed.
(Tiny spoiler part)
I don’t believe a guy who’s been that devoted to the Divine his entire centuries of existence would be so chill giving it up within the span of a few weeks.

*Plot: 9/10
The plot was really well done in my opinion. I did feel like the end wrapped up a bit too cleanly, for my tastes, but overall it was really good.

*Overall:
This was such a GREAT book and a really good start into this saga! I am so excited to learn more about the other sisters (especially the mysterious Brooke) and watch their journeys unfold. I am so excited to binge the sequel and I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone craving a fast-paced, humorous, hot, and fun fantasy romance!

4/5 stars!

International Book Tour - The Accidental Kingslayer (The Vossen Sisters Saga I) by Piper Knight

This review tour has been arranged by @mlc_tours x @piperknightauthor

Book Review: It was truly a rollercoaster ride, tbh. I must admit that I had some issues during the first few chapters but oh my, this book gripped me in its clutches as I read onwards.

The protagonist Elizabell or Bell or Bell-Bell is different & you can feel it right away. Her hot & fiery attitude is annoying at first but I ended up loving her all the more for it. It represents her struggles & coping mechanisms in comparison to her sisters & makes her the strongest soldier with insane drumming skills.

Bell is cursed after she accidentally slays a Faerie King & considers it a figment of her imagination until her 21st birthday when all hell breaks lose. She encounters the supernatural world in full force & it is one deadly adventure after another.

This world is full of powerful, kind yet fierce angels, curses, rituals, vampires, shifters, wolves, magic, witches, witch-blood & much more. The level of spice was just so so so good & I enjoyed it to bits. But keep it mind that it is a supernatural/ paranormal & celestial romance.

One can’t help falling in love with the powerful angel of fire Braxiel or his band of angels with all their antics & power. Their appearances esp. Brax’s had me screaming throughout.

There are many secrets about the supernatural world of magic & the consequences darker of delving in the world of vampires, moon queens, goddesses & witches.

It does get a bit repetitive with everything represented as hot or the way Bell was describing every other guy as hot or something even when she was 14. However, I am glad it was in a couple of chapters only as it was uncomfortable.

The way she tried to prove herself having ADHD & then messing everything up but also being strong in the face of every adversity was so amazing. She owned up to her mistakes and defended what was right. The twists in the last few chapters had me in awe. The celestial presence and intervention always gave me goosebumps and the bonding between Bell, her sister Beth & her mother Jen was heartwarming.

Accidentally killing a Fae King and getting cursed is one hell of a way to spend Halloween night.

Tropes
✅️Angels/Witches/Fae/Werewolves/Vampires
✅️Paranormal Romance
✅️Forbidden Love
✅️Slow Burn

For a debut novel, it was pretty good.
There are Witches, Vampires, Werewolves, Fae, and sexy Angels.
It was a bit predictable at times, which is why I didn't rate it higher, but I still enjoyed it.

On one Halloween night, Bell stumbles upon two Fae Kings in the middle of a field, attempting to perform a spell. They find her hiding, and one of the Kings attempts to use her as a sacrifice. In self-defense, she is able to grab the King's sword, and with a strike of pure luck, the King accidentally empales himself on his own sword. On his dying breath, the King curses her so that she will forever be hunted by members of his court. Whoever kills the Kingslayer will be awarded the rightful place as King of the Seelie Court.

Fast forward a couple of years later, it's Bell's 21st birthday, and she is attacked by some random Fae trying to kill her for the crown. Again, with a stroke of luck, she empales the Fae with an iron crowbar and escapes. She is not so lucky with the next attempt on her life, though. But before her killing blow is stuck, she is saved by a band of Angels. Brax, the lead Angel, is tasked to find out why there is an influx of Fae in the area and help Bell break her curse. During their quest for answers, Bell finds out she is a descendant of a powerful line of Witches.

I did enjoy the witty comedy that was woven in. Like the frog scene at the end, or when Bax is battling in nothing but boxers and a cooking apron. That was so ridiculous. I just had to let out a good cackle of laughter.

Love the forbidden love between an Angel and a Witch ❤️
