You are cordially invited. . . . Don’t miss amateur detective Carnegie Kincaid, expert in all things matrimony and murder, in the Hallmark original movie Wedding Planner Mystery on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries!
A KILLER BACHELOR PARTY
Carnegie Kincaid plans weddings, not stag parties. When a client asks Carnegie to manage a pre-wedding blow-out—complete with a stripper—she tactfully refuses the job. So why is Carnegie peering through binoculars across the Seattle Ship Canal, watching a shapely Santa Claus turn naked inside a hip dockside bistro? Because her own significant other—with whom she is having some significant differences—is at the party too. And, so it turns out, is a killer. When the body of the groom’s best man is pulled from the canal the next day, critical questions arise. What did Carnegie really see through her binoculars? More important: What will she tell the police she saw? As a wedding planner, Carnegie has her connections to maintain, and before she points Seattle’s finest to some possibly innocent suspects, she’ll look into the crime herself. But while Carnegie is snooping around, word of a witness has gotten out—and now a killer is watching her.
Good mystery set at Christmas with Carnegie working on 2 different weddings. Some good twists and turns and an ending I didn't see coming in multiple ways.
Carnegie Kincaid, a Seattle based wedding planner, is not in the mood for a last minute call to a stag party, but when funds are running low she will do what she needs to do to keep a bridezilla, and her wealthy mother happy, and her business afloat. Ok, that is a play on words since her business in run out of a houseboat when it is not being quarantined over repairs.
You would think that keeping two holiday weddings on track would be the most difficult parts of Carnegie’s life, but you would be wrong. The whole idea of juggling brides, grooms, family members, florists, caterers and a whole flux of details straight pales in comparison to juggling two men and a couple of dead bodies.
It does not help that she is a pseudo witness when she peers through binoculars and sees a fight breakout between two guests, but when one is found in the canal the next morning and the other is the brother of her best friend, things heat up quickly.
Add in a corporate merger that has way too many twisty parts and an ending that seems pulled out of nowhere and you have the third book in the Carnegie Kincaid series. This is an older series that I had started years ago and had forgotten about. There are parts that stand the test of time, but other parts that did not age well. Since this book is the midway point in the series, I will trudge on when I can, but I will not be rushing for the next book.
High 3s. Much improved. Carnegie is less prone to fixating on certain suspects, though her approach to her personal life is lagging behind still. Overall, a very enjoyable story with plenty of potential suspects.
This is the third book in the series and takes place during Christmas, when Carnegie has Bridezella to contend too, along with two dead best men, spies, and a rival celebrity wedding planner, who's a bit sleazy. She also contends with her boyfriend, who lied to her about his marriage, and causes a strain in their relationship. Tis the season to be jolly... or not. It's a shame the series ended in 2006 with the sixth book. I have two more to read to complete the series hopefully this year. I hope she writes a new series soon.
OK. Another one from the mystery pile of books that appears at my husband's workplace. (Then again, "Well Read and Dead" appeared there too!) Nothing amazing, but a enjoyable read (works well late at night or on an airplane when you just don't have enough brainpower to have to think too hard).
Third in series featuring a wedding planner. Carnegie Kincaid's personal life is a mess and her professional life not much better. Not much reason for Christmas cheer!
Good light reading, something to take on vacation. Just remind me never to use Carnegie Kincaid as a planner for any wedding I'm involved in - PEOPLE DIE around her!
I read this book in a day. I just cannot get enough of Carnegie and her friends --- and enemies. This is a solid series with good books that appeal to mystery lovers.
