Stella Knox #3

Killer Shot

Rate this book
All bets are off when a madman calls the shots.
After Special Agent Stella Knox’s friend and FBI tech ace Mac drops a bombshell regarding the death of Stella’s father, she can’t wait to follow up on the lead. But that’s put on the backburner when six people are abducted from a dinner party—the door open, the table laid, and the meal started. Even more disturbing is that a two-year-old is among the missing.

With no sign of a struggle and the only fingerprints belonging to the guests, there’s little to go on. Soon, a body is found in a drainage ditch on the edge of town, shot in the back at close range.

Followed by another.

While Stella and her team scramble to piece together a limited set of clues, a madman is calling the shots in a sadistic game where even the winners lose it all.

Now, it’s a race to find the remaining hostages...while they’re still alive.

Twisted and spine-chilling, Killer Shot is the third book in the new Stella Knox Series by bestselling author Mary Stone and Stacy O’Hare that will make you wonder how far you’d go to save your life.

KILLER SHOT is the third installment to the Stella Knox Series by Mary Stone and Stacy O’Hare. This is a well paced page turning thriller with a convoluted and gruesome plot, right out of a Criminal Minds TV script. Get ready for a story of that examines what you are capable of doing to save a life.

Stella Knox is still the probie in the Tennessee FBI office. Once you start reading, make sure you have plenty of time to get lost in this well paced page turner. This is another fantastic story in this series. An emotionless madman is trying to find his emotions by playing with the lives of innocents.

A dinner party of six, one a two year old, have vanished with no clues or signs of violence. When one of their bodies is found, the local police call the for FBI help. Will Stella and her fellow agents find him before everyone is dead?

As usual I can hardly wait until the next book to find who is in the black car. I highly recommend it to all lovers of murder mystery/thrillers and I look forward to the next story in the series.

I did receive an advance readers copy of this book from the author and this is my honest and freely given review.

WOW What a story

This author had to have spent untold hours researching drug addiction and psychopaths to be able to write such a book.
The characters spoke for themselves, giving insight into their lives and plans.

A true psychopath

Killer Shot is through the eyes of a deviant mind. You are really getting a glimpse of a true psychopath whom doesn’t know or understand reality.

This kidnapped group of family and friends are put through the ringer because this psychopath is trying to understand himself. This is such a warped concept of how he goes about his self discovery at the cost of other peoples lives and psychi. It’s quite sad and disheartening when you relate how your actions for whatever reasons affect others.

This is agonizing book that pains you, as you turn the pages of destruction of family when it was not necessary. Go get help for yourself and understand you and work on you.

It really puts certain things into a different perspective.

Another great Mary Stone and co author thriller. Keeps you going to the end. Stella Knox gets some upsetting news involving her fathers death, but before she can follow up on it, a new case comes up. This one is really bizarre. Six members of a dinner party are missing and there are no clues. Then one of the party goer shows up dead with a shot in the back. As Stella and her team scramble to uncover what is going on and who is doing it, The killer is busy playing games with his captives. Can Stella's team find the answers before all are dead? This book keeps you involved and hoping for the best.

Killer Shot by Mary Stone was a great novel. Stella Knox is at it again with her FBI cohorts. They are off to find the kidnapper and killer of six people who suddenly disappear. Bodies start showing up, one by one, with a bullet hole in them. Can they catch a killer in time? Stella continues to grow as a character and develop more trust and relationships with some of her coworkers. She even recruits two of them to help her begin to track down "her dad's best friend" who she previously believed was dead. The novel has a good ending but leaves you with a frustrating cliff hanger. This novel is one you will enjoy and is worth the read. I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Could You Do It?

I will say upfront that I read this book during the day only and before going to bed made sure I watched something funny. This book may give you nightmares.

Stella Knox and her team are given a very disturbing case. Five adults and one child have gone missing from a dinner party. How were they taken without someone seeing them? Who took them and why? Where are they? Are they still alive? Those are the questions Stella and her team must answer. Will they be in time to save anyone?

Killer Shot will keep you on edge wondering who will be next and hoping they will be saved. Is this a study of psychological behavior? Could you do it to save someone?

Looking forward to the next book.

This story brings to the reader philosophical questions
and major wonderings about the characters. With another original plot driving you through this well paced page turner, you will want to finish in one night sitting. Mary and Stacy created the horrific evil this time, that you will think about the actions , solutions, trauma and human behavior , including what you would do, long after you finish this thriller. Of course it ends with the brilliant cliffhanger . One strong advice: Don’t forget to breathe. Lida

Every time I get my hands on the newest book by Mary Stone, I am never disappointed. As a young reader, I learned that books were my friend and later they became my addiction. Mary Stone is an author I look forward to reading. I love that you can open one of her books and feel you are involved every step of the way.
You will enjoy Mary Stones series with SA Stella Knox as you will enjoy all of her books. She has become my newest 'go to' author.

I received this book as an ARC from the Author for an honest review.

A solid read and crazy case. I love how each story in this series starts and ends with the underlying questions surrounding two family members death, but the case focuses on an active FBI case. The character development was more involved and detailed in this book. There seems to be hints of romance and strong friendships in the work. The case crimes are vivid and shocking. The ending is fairly predictable, but in a good way as they are working to solve a case. The ending has a quick cliffhanger that has me excited for the next book!

Creepy and chilling are my favorite words to describe the writings of Mary Stone. It seems her co-author for the Stella Knox series, Stacy O’Hare, has that same gene pool, (talent), in her writing as well.
This book starts out with a real bang!!!!
I am amazed at the creativity of this terrifying story. The writing is so intense I could not put down.
My favorite of the Stella stories so far. Was quite sorry when I had finished so, so good. Way to go Mary Stone and Stacy O’Hare!

knowing what to expect, I was satisfied

Gruesome and horrifying as this niche genre requires (not as horrible as James Burke’s daughter, who is über, über grim and somewhat sickening).

A demented, disconnected psychiatrist is responsible for a horrible “experiment” involving emotionally connected individuals resulting in inexplicable homicides and body dumps.

Stella and Hagen’s investigation into the past has begun and hopefully the next installment will reveal more.

Killer Shot was a rollercoaster ride from the first page. Six people are kidnapped Stella and the team are racing against the clock to save the victims before time runs out. They have no idea why all of these people have been kidnapped. They just know time is running out when they find the first body. Mary Stone really knows how to keep you guessing and keep you jumping out of your skin. Thank you Mary.

Great series

OMG! I was looking for a new storyline of books and hit the jackpot! Mary Stone is a talented author with her gripping plots that keep me glued to each page. I love a story with a smart woman in the helm. Stella may be the new kid in the office, but she has a penchant for solving crimes. Add to that the back stories on everyone, and you've got books that have to be read through until the next. Great job.

I've read a lot of f*cked up sh*t but honestly for some reason this book really triggered me. Not that it wasn't a good book, because it definitely was. Benny being shot was sad to me (possibly because my husbands name is Ben & nickname is Benny), but the final nail in the coffin was DeeDee being shot moments before rescue. I thought I was going to need a break from the series to read something lighter, but the book's ending pulled me straight to the next one. Book 4 here I come

Crazy People

While reading this book I realized that a number of the individuals were not what I would call normal. A mother who wanted run her sons life and a father who had to be the rule the people in his life. Then Dr S who had no feelings. His experiment cost a number of lives and he felt it was a failure. How could someone be so ruthless?

Absolutely brilliant. Stella Knox and her colleagues have a gruesome task, but can they save everyone? This is a real page turner, I didn't think this series of books could get better but they do. The only problem I have is I have to wait for the next one. Just love the little twists and turns that are going on between, Stella, Hagen and Anders. Please read in order and enjoy.

FBI Thriller!

When you’ve joined the FBI in hopes of finding your fathers killer, how do you cope with the horrific aspects of “the job”? Stella has been an active agent for just a short time, but already dealt with severe cases! Can she be an effective agents and do her job? Will she find who killed her father and why? Follow the series to find out!

Hard to Finish

I usually get so involved in the story and characters that I can't wait to get back to reading after a break. This whole series is just too grim. I don't care about the characters. There is no hope, no redemption at the end. We just go on to the next book. I won't be going on.

Such Horror...Interspersed With Occasional, Unexpected Humor

Another outstanding read. Shocking, horrific crimes by an intelligent, criminally insane "professional" who escapes notice in the public eye. I laughed out loud several times as the author interspersed humor to break up the horror at unexpected times. Loved it!!

To kill or not to kill!!

A fascinating book! This story is about a test which only the mastermind can understand. Will they pass or not? Stella is part of the FBI team that has to find the players in the game. There are plenty of suspects, but the FBI are spinning their wheels trying to figure things out. The story is one that you don't want to put down. Fully recommend.

Seriously psychotic!

Another 5/5* I'm really enjoying this series, and can't wait to start the next one! The main unsub in this book is definitely a total psycho hands down. I would like to warn anyone who gets squeamish easily, the details in this book paint a very vivid picture, so read at your own risk...
Well, on to the next...!

This is exactly what happens when you have a crazy psychiatrist.

Really good read. Characters really work well together. Knox does stand out. Really more with the help of Anderson and Yates. Trying to solve this crazy story with no leads and kidnapped bodies starting to show up not giving any helpful clues. Perciverence should get them through.

If you like your mysteries filled with a psychopath, drug addled lackeys, unimaginable heartbreaking choices, and a mildly unsatisfying ending, then give this killer a shot. The killer and his crimes reminded me of the Wildlife series by Jeff Menapace.

I am thoroughly enjoying Stella Knox and the case she and her team get involved in. The circumstances they get called to aren't fun, but the way they figure out who dunnit is. This one is a mind bending date with hell.
Mary and Stacy have a hit series on their hands.

This is a Very good mystery/suspense. It’s a page-turner that had me hooked all the way through to the end, never knowing what to expect would happen next. There is a cliffhanger, so I’m looking forward to the next addition. *this was a complimentary copy and this is my honest review*
