I am devouring this Naughty List Series!! These are short spicy hallmark stories that are easy to read a couple in a day.

Haven is a school teacher who everyone thinks is pure and innocent. She decides to make a Naughty list of everything she needs to do. She enlist her brothers best friends and pro soccer play DB Elliot.

I love this spicy little story. It’s nice and sweet gives you all the hallmark feels with a little spice added to it.

I love DB he is like a giant teddy bear. I love his and Havens relationship. Claire knew how to write these characters to make you love them. I am now going to go back and read the rest of the collection.

THE GOOD 😀

Carrying on my Christmas novella binge with this offering from the Naughty List series. Straight from the off I couldn’t help but love Haven, who was so unapologetically herself. After reading about her favourite actress and a certain video at a Vegas strip club, Haven is inspired to make a naughty list of her own to tick off over the Christmas period. And who does she choose to help her with it? Hottie football (soccer) star and her brothers best friend, D.B Elliot. This man was the epitome of the saying ‘it’s always the quiet ones’, which was a nice surprise I must say.
This story was wonderful, and you can tell how immersed I was in it when I almost burned my baguette (no, that’s not a euphemism, I was making my lunch for work the next day). Elliot and Haven’s chemistry literally jumped off the page and I loved reading about how smitten he was with her. Having a crush that spanned a number of years, their feelings came to a head in a pretty epic way (dressing room anyone? IYKYK).
Funny and steamy in equal parts, Checking It Twice was an addictive and engaging read (see above baguette burning issue). I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author after being introduced to characters from her previous series.

I am loving The Naughty List, it is introducing me to so many new to me authors, Claire Hastings being one of them! This was a great holiday novella that I will absolutely be going back to read her series Atlanta Rising to learn more about the characters that appeared in this book !

Haven and Dobby have known each other since they were kids since Dobby is best friends with Havens brother. Haven is a first grade school teacher who is considered a Goody Two Shoes and Dobby is a forward for the Atlanta professional soccer team. Haven decided to create a Naughty List and the perfect person to help her check things off the list is obviously Dobby.

Dobby has been secretly in love with Haven for years so watching they check off her list was great to see him finally get a chance with her. They were perfect for each other and I loved this story!

Oh my goodness, yes, yes, yes! This book is a giving!!! This book will have you enthralled, smiling, giggling, and giddy with excitement.

Here is why!

You have your goody two-shoe 1st-grade teacher that everyone assumes is innocent; however, she decides to ditch that first-grade behavior in exchange for fulfilling her fantasies and claiming her coal. She creates a list, and her brother's best friend will be checking it twice.
I highly recommend you read this holiday novella. It is definitely giving you naughty.

This is the first book I read by the author and is was a good book. It was an amazing holiday reads. While reading this it had bee laughing and smiling. It was filled with steamy romance.

I love the chemistry between them two. Who doesn't love a good soccer play and elementary school teacher together.

Sweet and seasonal, Friends to Lovers romance.

When Dobby reads his friends little sister’s Christmas list, he realises he can help her with all her wants, gladly.
Haven hates being thought of as a good girl, so decides to make a list and become naughty.

These two have always had a soft spot for each other. It’s sweet and romantic, beautiful and so easy to read.
Very much enjoyed reading this one.

ARFC novella - part of The Naughty List Christmas stories

I loved, LOVED this one about Haven and DB Elliot (or DB, or Elliot, or…Dobby! 😁). A friends to lovers / brother’s best friend story.

Haven has made a Naughty List to lose her Good Girl image and Elliot is willing to help her check everything off. Turns out they both (unaware of each other) like to continue their changed relationship.

It was so much fun to read this book! Well chosen title, and I absolutely loved the ending, it was amazing.
Highly recommended!!

I struggled with this book and all because of the love interest. In theory, Elliot is perfect he can be sweet, charming, a complete alpha when the moment calls for it. However, the only thing going through my head was his last name is sending the wrong image (has anybody else watched Elliot Moose as a kid?) and his nickname Dobby (house elf from Harry Potter anyone?) I’m so glad the author told us he had sandy hair because the things I was picturing weren’t human or attractive 😂🫠 (I was starting to think maybe his “parents” disliked him with his names. His full name is Daubany Blake Winston Elliot which I might have spelled wrong and yeah. Why couldn’t he have just been D.B.? Or literally any other name. Or Blake which isn’t a douchie name despite what he thinks).
Okay now that you all know how I feel about that 🫣

The worldbuilding was interesting and I enjoyed the side characters more than the actual main characters. (I’m letting the Miss Frizzle references slide because Haven is a first grade teacher, but it just felt weird).

I loved how lists became their thing it was very cute and one of the reasons it’s getting a high rating.

If you do not like miscommunication or books where things could be resolved if they actually took a moment to talk to each other this might not be the book for you. Because this entire book is miscommunication and full of I like them but it’s one sided because I can’t bother to have a conversation with them or even see if I could extend the deadline.

Even the grand gesture didn’t really make me swoon especially when she’s not sure if it’s from her older brother or the man she’s had a crush on for forever and ever. I laughed that she even thought of her older brother (that’s not how grand gestures work 🤦‍♀️).

I’ll probably read other books from this author if it has the side characters as the mcs because I loved them. They’re your ride or die family okay.

There’s no cheating or ow/om drama which was a relief because not going to lie I was waiting for it.

"Checking It Twice" by Claire Hastings is part of the multi-author Naughty List series and also ties into the Atlanta Rising series, though it works well as a standalone.

After her colleagues teasingly describe her as a Goody Two-Shoes, first grade teacher Haven Taylor sets out to shed her good girl reputation by creating and checking off items on a "naughty list." She's working on her list at a local sports bar when she runs into her brother's best friend, professional soccer player DB Elliot, and realizes that he would be the perfect person to help her in her quest. He reluctantly agrees, mainly because he can't stand the thought of Haven completing the items on her list with another man - especially the one-night stand. He's secretly had feelings for Haven for years, but the bro code meant that his best friend's little sister was off-limits. He's thrilled to finally have his chance with her, even if it has to end before they head home to spend Christmas with their families. But will they really be able to say goodbye when the time comes?

This story was so much fun! I loved how cute and playful Haven and Elliot were; for someone who claimed to be a grump, he never seemed to be very grumpy around her. I also loved that Haven called Elliot "Dobby" because it reminded me of the little house elf from Harry Potter, though smoking hot dirty talker Elliot really couldn't have been less like the original Dobby if he tried. Their feelings for each other were apparent from the start, but it took working on the list together to push them out of the friendship comfort zone and open them up to the possibility of a romantic relationship. Their concerns about Haven's brother's reaction to their romance were understandable, but I'm glad they were able to work through those relatively easily because it was obvious that they belonged together.

I highly recommend "Checking It Twice" for all contemporary/sports romance and romantic comedy fans and look forward to whatever Hastings writes next.

Haven is tired of being seen as the good girl and is determined to check off items on her naughty list. D.B. has been in love with Haven forever, so when she asks him to help with her naughty list, he is willing to help check off all the naughty goodness one item at a time.

D.B. and Haven are entertaining, adorable and total couple goals. I love everything about these two, from their banter to their solid friendship and their chemistry. Their journey from friends to more is, for sure, the most entertaining I have experienced.

I can not wait to read more from the Atlanta Rising Football Club and Claire Hastings in the near future.

So far this has been my favorite of all the books in The Naughty List series. Sweet, sexy, and heartwarming I didn't want Haven and Elliot's book to end.

Haven is funny, quirky and indisputably the best first grade teacher ever. But when Haven suddenly finds herself the joke among the other teachers as they label her 'pure' and a 'Goody Two-Shoes' Haven leaves determined to claim her coal, even though she isn't quite sure what that means yet.

At a local bar Elliot is surprised to see his best friend's sister, Haven, her sad demeanor tugging at him. Then he finds out she's upset over the jokes of her peers at work. More startling is the Naughty List next to her that she is determined to work through to prove they are wrong. Then Haven suggests he should be the one to help her work through her list. Her brother will probably kill him but he sure isn't going to let someone else do it.

Even though they've had a crush on each other for almost ever, the two are headed home for the holidays, list complete, and both Elliot and Haven are torn apart that their three days together are over. Will these two realize the feelings they have are so much deeper than a three day fling?

I loved this sweet and spicy romance from Claire Hastings. Having long fallen in love with the Atlanta Rising Football Club series, I was beyond excited to see DB and Haven finally admit to themselves and one another that they had a thing for each other and to finally give into those feelings. In true Claire fashion, the reason the couple find themselves in an intimate situation with one another is not only the perfect way to jump things off but is also believable. I love that after Haven's fellow teachers refer to her as a goody-goody because of how sweet she is and how innocent she comes across that she makes it a point to prove them wrong. Going so far as to curate a list of naughty activities from going streaking to having a one night stand. This list thankfully was made possible by DB, Haven's brothers best friend and member of the Atlanta Rising, agreeing to assist her with her list versus going out and meeting some random stranger. While the story may be a short one, the steam and heat between these two is not. This inclusion in the Naughty List series is the perfect addition to a group of holiday themed romances where the heroines are looking to claim their coal.

I am loving the Naughty List short Christmas novellas, they are just perfect to get you in the festive mood, and Claire Hastings didn't disappoint with 'Checking It Twice' because, believe me, you will be reading this one twice as it is that good.
I just adored Haven, who is desperate to get herself on 'the naughty list' after everyone tells her she is a goody to shoes, which she may be but when she gets to work on her naughty list, watch out Santa, there are a few things on there that might make you blush!, but who to help her with this list?, who does Haven trust?, it has to be Dobby (nickname by the way) her brother's best friend and also the soccer player that has a crush on Haven that she has no idea about, but when he sees the chance to be able to finally get some time with Haven he volunteers to be Haven's partner in crime.

Checking It Twice gave me some great laugh-out-loud moments, while giving me all the Christmas swoon feeling and a great quick read that will keep you coming back for more.

Having read Ms.Hastings's work before i've been looking forward to picking up more of her books! As soon as i found out about this Naughty List one i knew i had to pick it up! I got into it as soon as i could. I so enjoyed this story!

Haven and D.B. Elliot's journey had my attention from the get go! Haven has been attracted to her brother's best friend, D.B. Elliot for some time now. When a certain naughty list comes into play and D.B. wants to be the one to help Haven with it, can these two give into to how they feel?

I really liked how Haven and D.B. had been in each other's lives for quite some time. The chemistry between them was undeniable. I enjoyed seeing them deal with everything between them.

You never know what can happen at Christmas. 😉

With Checking It Twice, Ms.Hastings has created such a good read with steam that'll be sure to warm up your Christmas season! I'm looking forward to picking up more from this author!

After reading Checking It Twice, I want to make a naughty list. Ms. Hastings gives us a wonderful, steamy friends-to-lovers romance that heats up the page. We are introduced to two people who have secretly had the hots for one another but when she is your best friend's little sister, how can you cross that line? I laughed, had a few smiles, and needed a cold drink during the changing room scene. Boy Ms. Hastings knows how to set the pages on fire.

When you are told that you are a Goody Two-Shoes, you decide to take matters into your own hands and make a big change. Haven does just that after her co-workers think she could not be a wild child. Haven makes a list and asks her good friend DB to help her check off the items. Will he be able to just keep it as a friend helping another one or will feelings get involved? Will his dirty talk get Haven to want to add items to her list?

Checking It Twice is one Christmas novella that will have you wanting to read it twice. A must-read holiday book that is fun to read.

Haven makes a list of ways she can escape her good girl persona, but she needs help and Db comes to the rescue. As these two embark on their journey to shed the good girl ways they start to form a bond and attraction that shocks Haven, but Db is hoping for their time to never end, but with so much stacked against them could they ever get a Christmas miracle for their future? This was such a great feel-good read that leaves you anticipating if Haven will finally see what’s been in front of her all along.

OMG... Haven and Dobby are sooo swoony, with a touch of spice and I was all in for their story.

Daubney Blake Winston Elliot, aka Dobby to Haven and Elliot to his friends, has been Haven's older brother's best friend since they were five, but he's been hiding a secret for years. He's been in love with Haven, but doesn't want to complicate his relationship with her or her brother.

Haven is the quintessential "goody two shoes" first grade teacher that's never really been anything other than a good girl. Determined to change that, Haven comes up with a list of naughty things she would like to try like streaking, buying a s*x toy, and a one night stand.

Elliot notices Haven at a bar and can't help but notice how down she is. His love for her makes him agree to help her check off items on her list, even though he knows it will ruin him.

Will playing with fire burn Elliot, or will Haven and Dobby get the HEA they deserve?

Just what I needed! DB and Haven have known each other since they were little, DB is her brother’s best friend. She’s a first grade teacher, he’s a midfielder for the Atlanta Rising, a soccer club 😍
Haven is as good as they get, so much so that her coworkers make fun of her and she feels compelled to create a naughty list so she can prove to herself that’s there’s a naughty side to her. Who best to help her than DB? He’s a good friend and she trusts him one hundred percent! The more items they check off her list, the more they fall for each other. Too bad he’s her brother’s best friend. Can we get a merry HEA?
I love the chemistry between these two! How supportive of her naughty side, DB is! Oh my, I love how they explore this side of their friendship and how they realize how perfect they are for each other.
Loved seeing all the Atlanta Rising players from previous books! It’s an amazing group of friends.

Haven is a good girl. She is sweet, always does the right thing. But after her favorite actress decides to take back her life with the phrase "Claiming my Coal", Haven decides she wants to make a naughty list of things to check off that she's never done before. And who better to help her than her brother's best friend DB?

DB has been obsessed with Haven since they were kids. But it's his best friend's little sister so she's off limits. Until she asks for help and the thought of anyone else getting to experience those things with Haven makes him murderous. So what can he do when the list brings them closer than it ever has before?

This was a perfect Christmas themed novella. The chemistry between Haven and DB was exceptional and you could feel the love between them the whole story. Not to mention, DB may be quiet but the mouth on him had us blushing right alongside Haven. Such a good, quick read!

I absolutely adore brothers best friend. And throw in that these two were childhood friends AND unrequited love…yes please!
Haven & Elliot are the absolute cutest. Haven is the quirky, completely G rated, 1st grade teacher. She’s told she’s a goodie two shoes, and decides that now is a good time to adopt the #ClaimYourCoal movement. While Elliot is a friend who is always there for her, can he ask her to help her in achieving her “naughty list items” and helping her claim her coal?
Elliot refuses to let any other man help Haven, and in the process of being her partner in crime, his love for her only grows deeper. Meanwhile, her love is growing, just because he is being so supportive and helping her out.
These two were meant to be from their childhood. Even her brother knew it. It just sucks that it took them so long to see it. But now that they have…it’s definitely something special.

Friends to lovers was the perfect story line for DB & Haven. This is my first time reading a book by Claire and I can say I will check out her other books! This was an extremely cute, quick, easy holiday read! ❤️❤️

Haven is in need of checking off some items on her “naughty list”! What better way than to get your brothers best friend to help you? 😏 I knew the minute DB agreed to her offer he’d be wrapped around her fingers. Haven is super whimsical and cute, she really did remind me of an older version of Miss Frizzle 😂. DB is nothing short of handsome and loving! I do wish there was some football (soccer) action in this since DB is on the team but even without it, you still get the athlete vibes from this book. I highly recommend this!

Haven and Elliot, the lead characters, have known each other since they were 2 and 5 respectively. Her brother is his best friend but they’re friends as well. When Haven’s colleagues make her feel inadequate, she makes a list of “naughty” goals to achieve. Elliot offers to help her, not wanting anyone else to help when he’s wanted her for years. The attraction is mutual; now they need to feel confident speaking to each other.

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a cute and steamy, Hallmark style Christmas romance. I enjoyed Haven’s sunshine and positivity and her willingness to act on her dissatisfaction. I enjoyed Elliot’s assertiveness and bedroom dominance. I enjoyed their intimacy, building on an existing friendship to be so much more.

An absolutely laugh out loud, friends-to-lovers, brother's best friend, holiday romance. I found this multi-trope romance to be an adorable, heartwarming easy read that hits the spot just in time for the holidays.

Haven is tired of being looked at as the "goody two-shoes" so she made a naughty list that will help her claim her coal this year. She enlists the help of her brother's best friend, D.B. (aka Dobby) Elliot to get it done. Along the way of completing her list, she sees Elliot in a whole new light.

There's not a lot of spice in this one, save for 2 scenes that are inferno level. That changing room scene is 🥵🥵!! There's a whole lot of tension though! Elliot knows what he wants and that's Haven. Haven is just now realizing that Elliot isn't just a bonus brother.

Anywho! Time to wrap this up with the goodies:

OMG…it wasn’t until a little into this book did I realize….😱🥰

Ok first of all let me start by saying how much I love stories like this and this one I absolutely love it. Oh my the whole my best friend’s sister trope (or bff’s brother) is one of my faves. I thought this would be the first book from Claire Hastings that I read but boy was I mistaken 😂. Just about half way into the book the others characters came into play and also the name of the sports team. I couldn’t quite figured it out…until one character name became familiar and that was because I read that characters story. “Slide Tackle” and oh my sweet Jesus did I love that book. And you don’t know what I’m talking about once you are done reading Checking it twice go and read Slide Tackle you will not be disappointed. Anywhootie…this book is the cutest, and naughtiest story you will absolutely love.

This is a feel good steamy Christmas brothers best friend romance.

Haven is a school teacher who is the epitome of good. She is just adorable with her use of child friendly curses and goody behaviour but when everyone comments on how much of a goody two shoes she is. Haven decides to make a naughty list.

When Elliot finds havens naughty list he decides he is the only one that can help her fusiliers the list and sets out to help her in all elements. Elliot has had a crush on haven for years and this just heightens the chemistry between the two.

These two were so cute. At points I wanted to scream at them to just tell each other how they felt but that ending was just Christmas magic.

He is reluctant at first to help her with her list, but he knows that he can be the one and only that should! Haven and Elliot have known each other for ever and I just loved watching them grow, explore and check off those boxes together! Check off those boxes with Haven and Elliot!!

I absolutely adore Haven and D.B. If you’ve been reading the ARFC series then you have been teased and teased with these two and their “we’re just friends” comments…at least until now!

Haven has created a naughty list and she is about to claim her coal with the help of the man she has crushed on for years. I loved seeing her explore and grow throughout this story. D.B…..well this man is a very pleasant surprise. #AlphaElliot for life. The man is just something else I can’t get enough of him.

There are so many great scenes in this book. I loved them all. Plus, we get some cameos from our favorite ARFC couples.

If you’re looking for a brothers best friend, friends to lovers, holiday romance this is one to check out.

Checking it twice is the ideal holiday romance novella and includes everything the reader could want.
Haven is just the cutest, I love her goodie two shoes side! When she tries to get rid of that persona and break out her naughty side she really goes for it. Of course Dobby is the best person to help her complete her spicy list, he has loved her forever and really will do anything for her.

The characters were great and Claire gave us all the Hallmark movie feels with this one.
My only disappointment was that it was written in third person, it didn’t take away from the story but I always feel more connected to the characters when the story is in first person.

But all is right when big brother comes to the rescue!! I love love love that they got their HEA!! My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end!!
