Prepare yourself for a year long, nerve-shredding game of cat and mouse with a hyper-intelligent alien monstrosity.
Maynard and his fellow survivors are trapped onboard the Queen Antares, moving at faster than light speed through the abyss of space with the alien amalgam in control of the ship.
They have one goal.
Survive long enough to take back the ship and stop the ravenous alien creature from reaching Earth.
That’s all that matters now.
But with an insatiable monster of vastly superior might hunting them throughout the ship, will they last long enough to make a difference?
Can they even hope to make a difference against such insurmountable odds, or is it all simply a meaningless, desperate Hail Mary effort in the face of an unstoppable alien juggernaut?
FOR THE LOVE OF PETE WILL SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS INTO A HIGH BUDGET MOVIE !!! After the first two books in this series, I didn't think it would be possible for me to love this more, but here I am, hopelessly love struck. The humans and their resilient character, take front stage and really draw you into the story. Their struggle and fight is my struggle and fight. It is so well written. The mighty amalgam, blob, whatever, is an ultimate bad guy with all the force, vileness, strength and even pettiness that makes you want him defeated in a audacious and embarrassing way. I especially like Andrew and Savannah, I was hoping they would be able to survive (I'm not gonna tell if they d0), the new character Kenny (obviously I like the geeks), Wile -E (odd there are no anvil's used as weapons), Maynard, and oh yeah Moxxi rules. I even loved the ending...
Well damn, that cover is awesome! Mechs vs amalgamated space blobs!
The third book in the Amalgam series is actually longer than books 1 & 2, so you know there’s going to be tons of kickass action! I had to jump into this one right away to see what happens with the human survivors, knowing the fate of the Earth is dependent on them.
Trapped on the Queen Antares the resistance fighters are diminishing in numbers and morale is dropping. They have some pretty cool resources: K-9 robots, napalm gel, assorted drones, nano tech, etc. The humans are resilient, & you have to cheer for them as they persist and come up with elaborate & crazy plans time after time. The Amalgam aliens are quick to learn and change tactics (even turning people into their mind-slaves, or hobbling a “herd”!), so there are some really close calls for the main characters.
Favourite Line(s): “C’mon, honey britches. Let big daddy Randy keep you warm.”
“Just shut up … shut up and burn … you hangry bastard … Just burn!”
I’ll never get over how the alien absorbs its victims (and now there are 3 of them!); using their partially dissolved heads to see and their bones as weapons. Yuck! I would love to know more about their species & history! They are an intelligent species, but capable of maliciousness, spite, and causing purposeful suffering to their victims.
This book, compared to the first two, was very detailed which is great, but it was a little too technical for me. Ex: the very detailed descriptions of the mech’s weapons, nanos, etc.
I took my time with this one because these books just got better and better as they went. No Nancy Mary Sue cult wokism just amazing horror and storytelling. By the way if more military folks wrote there military sci-fi horror stories like this they would more likely get more readers. Thankfully this author didn't ever not one time spend 2 chapters or even 1 describing the mechanics of a gun. Why don't somebody go ahead and put me in front of a TV and force me to watch Days Of Our Lives it would be less painful because that is what keeps me away from military horror or fiction of any kind too BORING but this was so amazing and I hope HOPE this author creates another story like, this I am definitely going to be keeping my eyes open for anything new he comes out with. Anyway good job be proud this was an amazing ride!
What a fantastic finish to the Amalgam series! A detailed year long insane journey through space with the aliens in control and the humans being the cattle to feed on. The Recovery Team needs to find a way to stop the ship before arriving to Earth as this would spell the end of human civilization.... But how do you kill the unkillable? The stakes are extremely high, and so is the terror. The book is stepping up the horror to desperate new levels, my heart froze a few times at what lengths the aliens went. The story slows down twice to let you catch your breath, and it gets technical enough where i lost track of exactly what was happening, but oh boy was i hanging on every word ... Fantastic series! Now I'm going to have a serious book hangover...
I give this a Five Star Review for this series of Cosmic Horror. Normally, I would give stories like this a four star, but I purchased the Limited Edition Hardcover and am completely blown away by the way this book looks, feels and in hardcover, I can appreciate the storytelling that much more! The battle for survival continues. As their ship heads back to Earth, the survivors are doing everything that they can to prevent the symbiotes from reaching home where they plan to feed well!
