Crossroads Creek Cowboys #2

The Help of a Cowboy

Rate this book
Once a cowboy...always a cowboy. But when life delivers Chad a chance to hang up his boots and spurs, he's all in.

He's newly single, bored, and ready to move to the city to shake things up. She’s recently divorced, tired of the fast pace, and looking to settle in the country. When their paths cross, the two must work together if they have any hope of following their dreams.

The farm is an albatross around Chad's neck. Hard work and little time for fun. When his sister gets married and moves into town, the timing is perfect to sell the farm and move on with his life.

Diana is on the road to nowhere, looking to escape her past and find a special place to call home for her and her daughter. When she spots a farm for sale just outside of Crossroads Creek, she knows in her heart it’s perfect. There’s only one problem…she doesn’t know the first thing about dairy farming.

Chad wants nothing more than to refuse her contingency offer on the farm. The idea of teaching Diana everything he knows about dairy farming over the course of the next month while the place goes through the closing process was ludicrous. Except he's anxious to sell and buyers aren't lined up knocking on his door. And then there's the little girl...her blond curls and precocious spirit reminding him of days gone by...when life was simple.

Does love make the farm-go-round? Or is it more like a merry-go-round...and must come to a stop. The Help of a Cowboy is the second exciting story in the Crossroads Creek Cowboys series. If you love uplifting, inspirational stories that will warm your heart...this one's for you!

Small towns can be a source of community and support. They can also contain a lot of judgement and bitterness, along with a grudge or two. Chad’s never known the caring side of Crossroads Creek because all he’s ever experienced was their anger over his father’s actions. Escaping the bad behavior of her ex-husband, Diana’s searching for a safe place to land, and this little piece of Texas feels like home. Are Chad and Diana the answer to each other’s prayers or are their troubles only getting started? I really enjoyed this book, and I had a lot of fun watching as these two got to know one another, let their walls down, and started to fall in love. I really appreciated the message of forgiveness in this book and adored the way it brought everything together in the end.

This is Diana and her daughter Lindsey's story.
This is Chad's story.
“L ADY, YOU’RE TRESPASSING,” CHAD said, gently reining in Duchess. His mare stopped short several feet from a woman and a young girl, possibly her daughter judging by the similar coloring of their fair skin and golden blonde hair.
Strangely enough, the two appeared to be setting up for a picnic, and of all things—on his land.
The woman spun around, her mouth forming a wide O. She grasped the child’s hand, pulling her close as if to protect the little girl from the big, bad wolf.
Only neither one looked like Little Red Riding Hood, and this wasn’t a fairytale. “You’re trespassing,” he repeated, eager to have them gone and be on his way.
Chad didn’t have time for socialization with travelers passing through the area who had a misguided notion of right and wrong.
I recommend this book.
The Help of a Cowboy by Elsie Davis is a 5 star book.

The Help of a Cowboy (Crossroads Creek Cowboys Book 2) by Elsie Davis is the first book in this series have read. However, it reads so well on its own that it not necessary to have read the first book. What an intriguing read it is so now of course I want to read the first one. While this is not a mystery as such, I couldn’t see Chad and Diana could ever be friends let alone find love. That was the mystery I kept reading to see how the author would solve.

The writer does it beautifully and naturally as these two learn to work together. I admired Diana’s positive attitude towards the hard work as well as wanting a life free from her past for her daughter and herself. Well, Chad is a different story. He has such a grumpy mindset I wasn’t sure about him. Then he is the one who has the most growth and change. That’s a winner story!

The Help of a Cowboy is a wonderful clean inspirational romance. Life is hard but worth the hard work as well as attitude is everything. All will enjoy this cowboy romance.

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary digital ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story was so much fun to read because of the wonderful characters.   I liked Diana because of her strength and faith, especially after learning about her ex-husband, Silas.  She had a cute, precocious, six year old daughter named Lyndsey,
I also liked Chad, a dairy farmer, who wanted to move to Dallas after his sister got married.  It was interesting to learn about how his past was still affecting his future.  I am glad he got to see another side to his neighbors with Diana's help.
I liked how Diana and Chad first met and how she wanted to buy his farm.  Her condition for buying it made the story very interesting. I enjoyed the surprises, hopes, and dreams in this inspirational book and I especially liked the ending.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Great Read

After a shaky start, the Cowboy, Chad, and the City Girl, Diana, become respectful towards each other. She's running away from her abusive husband and from a marriage arranged by their wealthy parents. He wants to sell his ranch and get out of town. While working together to fix up the ranch and learning what work and chores you have to do as owner, Diana starts to fall for Chad. One thing is for sure, Chad treats her daughter, Lindsey, better than her own dad. When her Ex finds her, and Chad protects her, you know he's falling for her and her daughter. An enjoyable read, so don't wait.

Love it, love it! Elsie sure packs a punch with this one! A heart warming story of a redeeming community, with a jealous revengefull past showing up to cause trouble. The poor cowboy needs the help with half of the community shunning him for what his pa did. He should not be judged by that, but by his own character.

Thanks to the author for providing this book for my honest review!

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Action-packed Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After Inspirational Original Page-turner. Romantic Realistic Witty Wonderful characters

A Great Series by Elsie David

I have never read one of Elsie Davis’ books until today. I finished my first and read the second. They are great love stories and I plan to continue the set.
There are several more stories in the set and I can’t wait to read them as well. In this book Diana decides to buy Chad farm. Diana is wanting to leave behind a bad marriage. And Chad thinks the whole town is against him because years ago his father robbed the bank and killed the sheriff. They both have a great deal to learn and that is what makes this story so good.

This is an enjoyable book!
The sins of the father can definitely affect the children. That's what Chad lived with.
Diana had a different dilemma - a cold-hearted ex who didn't care who he hurt.
Put Chad and Diana together on a dairy farm - working together, with Chad showing Diana the ropes, and an unlikely friendship develops. Will something more, when all Chad wants to do is leave for the city?
Good book!

Heartwarming and clean

There are many lessons to be learned here: Love and forgiveness top the list. This story is heartwarming even though there are trials, tribulations and villains, a strong faith in the human spirit and love of God proves that adversity can be overcome, abundantly followed by peace, prosperity and pure contentment.
The characters were realistic from villain to the exuberant personality of a child, all brought the story to a satisfying HEA.

The Help of a Cowboy is an awesome, clean, heartwarming romance. Diana certainly shook up Chad's world and her ex is a real piece of work, but thanks to her persistence and a caring community, many good things happened. This well written book captured my interest and held it. There is a smidge of suspense as well. I highly recommend this book!

Diana is running away from her past. Chad’s hope is to sell the family farm and leave Crossroads Creek and his past behind. Diana is willing to buy Chad’s farm but he needs for thirty days in order for her to learn the ropes. Can they work together and fight their feelings? Will their past bring them together or break them apart? A sweet romance.

Great story

The story was wonderfully dynamic, both in emotion and action. Diana was a catalyst for some of the trouble landing at Chad's front door, but she is also the catalyst for the good.
The characters were well done and their actions and reactions seemed realistic. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

A beautiful story of redemption

Although I would have liked this book to have a few Scripture references, it has the clean romance with morality and proper values for a Christian romance. The story is one of redemption, of forgiveness and (although it wasn't specifically stated) of grace. I will definitely be reading Book 3, as 1 & 2 are good stories as well.

A great story about 2 people running for different reasons. Diana trying to outrun her ex and her former life. Chad trying to run away from a town he felt betrayed by. Diana was running to try and keep her blackmailing ex away. There was confrontation l, feeling the need to protect and forgiveness all in this wonderful read.

Entertaining, inspirational, clean story. Character development and healing old wounds as this odd couple get to know one another. A bit more dramatic but sweet ending. Chad is very easy to fall for. I received a free copy and voluntarily chose to leave this review.

Sweet story

I enjoyed the story line, but the writing leaves much to be desired. A number grammatical errors and just plain mangled, awkward sentences detracted from the sweet romantic story. A good editing would make a lot of difference.

True love

An enjoyable story of starting over while enduring complications from the past but true love wins out. An excellent book to read and be inspired to do what is right for yourself and others.

On one condition...

A clean Christian romance, which, from the first page, one knows exactly how it will end. However, isn't that why one escapes into a fictional world?

Elsie Davis has given us an entertaining romance full of humor, twists and surprises. For once, money isn’t the heroine’s main problem. Chad just wants to leave small town life and more to the city, or does he? I really enjoyed this book and look forward to returning to Crossroads Creek.
