Terry just wants to be loved by anyone. Or anything. Keith wants to find the person breaking into his home and messing with his dog. Both Terry and Keith will soon discover that revenge and lust are the darkest of human emotions. Based on a true story. This is an extreme horror story. Do not read if you are easily offended.
J. Boote is the alter-ego of Justin Boote, author of horror and dark fiction. J. Boote writes primarily extreme horror, not for the faint-hearted or easily offended.
Well, this was certainly a nasty little affair. Between the title and cover, I was absolutely looking forward to some really gritty killer dog story. What I got was something completely different and unexpected. Basically, the entire story is sexual assault, violence, and deviant sexual escapades. There isn’t a whole lot beyond that, which is a shame, as Terry and Keith were both fun characters. And we didn’t get nearly enough time with them individually or together. The whole story needed much more context and development. Extreme horror junkies may like this, but I would taper expectations a bit going in.
The fact that some of this is based on a true story should be enough incentive to dive in! If you like extreme then def do it! I give it 5 unfortunate brooms 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹
This was one hell of a ride and especially to find out the main plot is based on true events!! That's messed up!! And I was not expecting that awesome ending. 5 stars !
My first book by J. Boote, It did not disappoint. I have never read something so messed up in my entire life! (I loved it) I couldn’t stop reading. (There maybe something messed up with me!) I’m definitely loonking forward to reading more!
If you need a gruesome look at fetishism and other forms of sexual gratification and aren't squeamish read this book. I'm not going into anything that happens in the book. But will say that it's a quick read, only 70 pages and that the bad guy gets it in the end, sort of.
I have read a variety of books in the extreme horror genre. This one fell short for me. It was felt like the author tried to throw everything into this short novella. Perhaps if he had extended the writing to develop the story more I would have rated it higher.
“He certainly hadn’t expected to find himself so many years later deciding which breed of dog he was more sexually attracted to. So many choices.” This, author described, “naughty little tale” truly changed the meaning of “Man’s Best Friend” for me…
Right out of the gate this one grabs you with this intense struggle between Terry’s unique proclivities and Keith’s internal fight with “something that was alive and hungry as any fetus born from the womb of a mother”, that sunk its canine teeth right into the heart of the matter and shook it like a squirrel being prepared for a doggy sized lunch.
There were moments that I darkly giggled and others that I cringed, probably in equal measure, when I was reading this twisted little novella. While, as is usual for me, I loved the extremes of this plot line, I was more enthralled with the characters and how I kept trying to put myself in their shoes…
I mean, what would you do if you walked out first thing in the morning and saw “A man, perhaps in his early 30’s with long, black hair was on his hands and knees in the field, his trousers and underwear around his ankles, stockings and suspenders on his legs … - and Basher, his dog, with his front paws taking the man’s back while he painted and fucked the guy on the floor.”? ((As an aside, the name Basher for the dog, is extremely apropos and droll in the best way ever.))
I’d say ask the author, because when you read this one (which you all need to…), you’ll need to read the Afterword from our dear, J. Boote. I promise you won’t regret it.
“The dog howled like a wolf and slowly faded away. This time he really had been man’s best friend”. This story won’t fade away for me, for some time …
Terry knew he was different, by the time he was an adult he was wearing red high heels, red women's underwear and shoving massive dildos in himself. Keith was a nasty piece of shit, after a drunken incident at the pub, he follows a guy home, attacks him, rapes him, cuts his eyeball out, makes him swallow it. He does prison time and is now back out with a dog and a girlfriend. But somebody is breaking into his house, stealing his girlfriend's underwear and sex toys and doing things to his dog. Keith thinks he has found the man breaking into his house, he stabs him through the mouth, teeth breaking off, the tongue cut, looking like a slug on a knife. A shoves a broomstick somewhere. Hard, it goes far, further than he thought, how far can this thing go? I was expecting a tame cujo-like animal attack and got this haha. This author can write depraved, disgusting content well. Preferred Buried by this author but he does shocking well.
I'm not sure what I expected, but that definitely wasn't it haha That was insane from beginning to end. I love that even in a really messed up extreme and gross horror novel the author still showed respect to the LGBTQ Community and basically portrayed a to each their own attitude throughout the story. Especially when the main antagonist could have easily had a very different mindset and not even have been faulted for it because he was a sick and twisted individual that you just wanted to hate anyways.
For someone who doesn't read extreme horror, he sure can write it! This proves that Justin Boote is versatile in his writing style. He takes to extreme horror with the same consistent action he does in his other books. If you like it extreme, you will like this one! Don't worry, no animals were harmed in this ... I think the dog ended on a high note. ;)
Without giving too much away, Terry has very unconventional feelings about dogs. Keith has a dog he loves (which Terry has "fun" with) and a very bad temper.
This makes for an unforgettable story! A crazy, twisted tale with a very original ending. Check it out!
Read in an hour! Kept me engaged throughout and had a good, solid storyline. Only downside was the grammar and spelling errors. Quite an extreme and disturbing tale!
Look I’m going to be honest, I do not read extreme horror, I do not like unnecessary gross stuff. If you do then you can take my rating and add two more stars cause I think in that sense you may like it. For me however this was the funniest thing I’ve seen lately. Like omg this plot is crazy and if you skim the super gross torture stuff you got a dark comedy on your hands
Edit: on second thought no this is just the author’s fetishes.
Disturbingly entertaining and twisted extreme horror with lots of icky, sticky, gory, details that will plague my mind unbidden. AND part of this story is true. Lust and revenge brings out the animal in us all. Excellent first read by J. Boote.
