Having survived a death sentence, Lilith believed moving to Paragon City would be safer, as there she’d be one of countless superhumans. Her dreams are short-lived, however, as the plots of the sinister Dreamer and a malevolent alien intersect with her attempt to build a new life with Gina and Rachel.
Unfortunately for them, Lilith isn’t willing to let the villains do as they please.
I was born in October, 1985. Not much of my history would likely be of interest, but I grew up primarily in Utah, a land of ultra-conservative people, and yet oddly open to Science Fiction and Fantasy.
I started trying to write in high school. That didn't go well, and I mostly lost the spark for a long time, only rarely finishing writing a story, as most of my inspiration instead went into tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. In the process I developed a possibly unhealthy obsession with elves and succubi. If I ever write a story without either, it's probably Science Fiction...and there are even odds that someone will body-mod themselves to look like an elf. Trying to be honest here.
My writing tends to focus on the relationships between characters, though it may not seem like it at times. The stories in the background are just that, a backdrop for the development of the characters and situation. I try to fully think them through, but it's not always the case.
Anyway, not much more to be said. I'm an oddball, and I know it. I'm also somewhat stunned at the success my work has attained thus far, and am trying not to panic over it.
This was the third instalment of the Lilith's Shadow series. It is a fairly fun superhero series even if it is nothing that is particularly special or memorable. The series has a nice blend of action, romance, slice of life, and crazy superpowered happenings!
This third book was a solid instalment of the series. Lilith is getting on with her life and building her own superhero team so she, along with Gina and Rachel, heads to a new city. There they have to make a good impression on the local superhero team. They get plenty of chance as a lot is going on in Paragon City. Dreamer is back, more powerful than ever, and causing trouble in Paragon City while a stray alien creature has crash landed in the area. On top of the Lilith has to worry about Shadowmind's return and what that might mean for her and her friends!
All in all it was a fairly fun tale. I felt like this story benefited from the new location as getting to know a new group of superheroes was fun. Another big plus was the fact that we get glimpses of a whole different bunch of villains. They all had their own goals and motivations so it helped add a bit of depth to the worldbuilding.
I find Medrano's weird sedate pacing and dialogue quite readable and engaging but can see why they might trouble others. The same is true of some of his other flaws and quirks.
All in all this was a solid story. The tone in this series is always a weird mix of YA and sci-fi b-movie in feel but for all that I usually end up enjoying the story well enough that I'm happy there are plans for more tales in this world.
Rating: 3.5 stars.
Audio Note: As always Sarah Beth Goer does a good job with the audio.
If you are looking a a good book that you won't want to put down I recommend this series. I have reread the first two book multiple times before this one came out and now this will definitely be added to my list. Great book and I look forward to the next one out soon.
While I enjoy the world that is built it the story has gotten to large to develop the characters in this novel. By the time the new characters are introduced, engages with the main characters, and develop their own story most of the book is finished. I do like how the characters were introduced but a bit too many were covered to develop the original characters.
This is a wonderful urban fantasy/urban sci-fi/superhero series! Lil, Gina, Rach and all the great secondary characters that people the series are wonderful. Action, adventure, battles, aliens, family dinners, romance, sups, villains, shopping, sentient AIs, combine for a wonderful read!
While I am greatly enjoying this series, I do want to point out that Queen's Move does have a noticeable increase in spelling and punctuation errors throughout the book. Another thorough proof-reading is greatly needed.
Great continuation of the story. The plot thickens and the charachters evolve in ways you would enjoy greatly. Was definitely worth the wait and now onto waiting for the next one :D
This story really took off. I like how the characters are developing and liking is amazing. Please keep up the awesome work. I can not wait for the next book!
An on the edge of your seat page turner❗😎 Descriptive as well as riveting the detail of the fight scenes were for me as good as viewing them on a screen❗ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
