Georgette Adams is trouble incarnate. Spoiled, sassy, smart…and the President’s only daughter.
Getting summoned to a meeting at the White House felt like an honor—until I caught the catch.
I’m the newest member of her security detail. Not only for this summer in DC, but once she leaves for Stanford in the fall as well. Her safety is my responsibility.
Trouble is, the only place Georgie respects any rules is on the tennis court.
Our priorities clash and our personalities conflict, yet somehow—the more time we spend together, the less it feels like work.
But my job description doesn’t include making her laugh or enjoying our conversations. And it definitely doesn’t involve broken rules or blurred lines.

"I stare, and I wonder. Is this what falling in love feels like?"
Things I'm in need of recently: 1. For my father to become president so I can get a cold and grumpy young secret agent assigned as my head of security whom I can mercilessly taunt and flirt with even when he tries to resist, only to end up giving on the explosive chemistry and admit he can't be without me... pretty simple I think.
Tropes: president's daughter x bodyguard, forbidden romance, age gap, forced proximity, grumpy-sunshine. Coming August 16th!
This is my second book by this author and I'm completely OBSESSED, and ready to make my way through her other books now 📚!
This book follows Georgie –the only daughter of the President–, who's ready to go to college on the other side of the country, and Ethan, her new security detail, a rule-follower who definitely did not expect his new assignment to be so sassy, adventurous and beautiful.
I really enjoyed their dynamic; they got off to a rocky start since she didn't want a new agent being her shadow, and Ethan was set in his agent ways, ready to not give her an inch just to meet a woman ready to fight for a bit of freedom. But then they're forced to spend time together, just to really get to know each other while maintaining that flirty banter and bickering, going back and forth between some sort of friendship and understanding, and their forbidden chemistry.
This was a great romance with great characters, and the forbidden angst between them... the "coward" scene... yes, I'm calling it that, and yes, I'm a sucker for good angst and maybe a masochist, but it made this book so much better 🤧! I really enjoyed this book, and I totally recommend it 🖤
A book where the president’s daughter falls for the head of her security? Sign me up!
This book has some of my favourite tropes - the forbidden romance, the bodyguard romance, slight age-gap (18-23), grumpy/sunshine, and it also has the trope where both MCs make assumptions about each other–which are completely wrong, of course. Ethan assumes that Georgie is spoiled and entitled. Georgie assumes that Ethan is stuffy and boring. But it turns out that they have a lot more in common than they’d thought…
This is my second book by this author, and I love how she writes plots like these. She adds a lot of depth and personal growth for the characters. It’s lightly angsty, sweet, and steamy. Please note there’s no suspense in this book! (I’d been hoping for a little bit of intrigue because she’s the president’s daughter, but the plot goes in a completely different direction!) This book still gets 5 stars from me!
POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2023: This book fulfills the " A book about a forbidden romance" category.
"I stare, and I wonder. Is this what falling in love feels like?”
4 STARS💫
Honestly at this point I’ll probably do a C.W. Farnsworth binge of all her books because they’re that good.
After graduating high-school Georgette Adams, the First Daughter of the U.S.A., is more than ready to leave for college in California, hoping to get away from all the scrutiny she’s used to in D.C. But her father abruptly announces she’ll be getting a new head of security and her focuses shift after meeting Agent Salisbury, a gorgeous, young agent brought in to camouflage in between college students. Not only is he gorgeous, he’s irritating, maddening and loyal to her father and is set to make her life difficult, even if he doesn’t know it.
This book was an amazing forbidden romance between a bodyguard and his client, with not much drama but steamy and full of delicious tension.
While Georgie is young and a little spoiled, she’s written so well so her character is in no way annoying or cringey to read. Something I appreciate extremely! I loved her and Ethan so very much.
Llevo 4 libros de C.W. Farnsworth en menos de una semana Y NO ME PUEDO DETENER ALGUIEN AYÚDEME. SON ADICTIVOS.
"I stare at her. Trace the features that I could probably paint from memory. The slope of her nose and the curve of her cheek. The one strand of hair that still bears a trace of lavender. The faint, half moon-shaped scar on the left side of her chin. I stare, and I wonder. Is this what falling in love feels like?"
"My mom has always said she knew—when she met my dad. Knew they had something special that couldn’t be replicated with other people. The sort of magic that some people never find. I glance at Georgie, flushed and smiling beside me. And I think, I know."
“You’re more than pretty. Like sunshine. It hurts to look at you.”
"Do you keep falling, after you acknowledge you love someone? Is it a slow tumble or a fast cascade? Can love change or is it always tied to the moment you first acknowledge it? I don’t know. But Ethan keeps humming my favorite song. And I realize: I’m completely and totally, utterly screwed."
Bleh! I wish I liked this more. I had such high hopes for this one. I loved the idea of the First Daughter falling for her Secret Service Agent, but Georgie was awful. She was so immature and desperate. The entire book (until the ending), I didn’t really feel like she was interested in Ethan. It felt like it could have been anyone. It seemed like she only wanted to push the boundaries and break rules with anyone she could. The cringy things that came out of her mouth! 🤦🏻♀️ She had no concern about Ethan’s job or his reputation. She was so spoiled and self-centered. If I had to read any more of her complaints about having to be the First Daughter and how terrible her life was because of it, I was going to scream. I really liked Ethan though, but I hated that he was instantly obsessed with Georgie. I also liked the ending of this book. I felt like they really seemed good together in the end.
This was a 4 stars just for the vibes and bc i liked the fmc but plot wise it was a 2.5 stars
might be spoilers //
i needed more of them together bc they don’t get together until the very end, i also wanted it to be a bit more of forbidden bc everyone was okay with it like even her dad the president, like the only one with issues of them together it was the male main character, she forgave him too fast for my liking.
Started as a 5, shifted into a 4, then fizzled to a 3 - I liked a lot of this, but the push/pull overshadowed the actual romance after awhile. The good news? It's the kind of book that makes me want to read more from this new-to-me author, because I enjoyed the writing style and the potential in the story. Fans of forbidden, light but tension-filled new adult romance will likely enjoy this bodyguard romance the most. I loved the concept of a young Secret Service agent falling for the president's daughter, who can't seem to stop herself from pushing his buttons. The first part of the book had me excited about the dynamic between the characters, and I liked both of them individually. Somewhere along the way, this heroine started showing her age, and her pushiness became less endearing and more frustrating - so did the hero's reluctance. That ended up taking the lead over softer moments of connection, which I needed more of to seal the deal.
The story follows Ethan (23), a Secret Service agent who is just getting started in his career. When he's assigned as the lead agent protecting the president's daughter, it should be an honor. But something about Georgie (18) lit a fire in Ethan the moment they met. And spending every day with the fiery, beautiful woman does nothing to extinguish those feelings - they only grow stronger the more Ethan gets to know Georgie. He'd jeopardize his career by giving in to the tension that crackles between them, and Ethan has devoted way too much time to the service for that to happen.
I've heard good things about Farnsworth's writing, but I'll admit to being a little hesitant about reading a book set in the political world. Not exactly something I want to read about to escape current events, lol. But the book isn't set in DC for the most part, and very little of the plot actually deals with those aspects, beyond Georgie's frustration about being unable to live a normal life. Both characters are young, but they were actually the perfect age for the situation - Georgie is attending college, and it's better to have an agent who can blend in. I also liked that she was bold and interesting, constantly pushing Ethan's buttons. But there is also a fine line where that behavior becomes too much, and that was this book's downfall for me. I love a slow burn, but that typically comes with little swoony moments along the way. Quieter, softer situations that build the emotional connection. This was much more focused on the tension and push/pull; less about the ways they are right together, and more about simply wanting Ethan to give in. Ultimately, there was nothing major holding me back from enjoying this, but not enough good stuff to keep me hooked either.
i expected more. this book had such an amazing start like i was so excited to read it. however, as i read, i realized how much i started disliking reading it. i went from “cant wait to go home and read it” to “this is boring, i wanna get it over with”. this book had so much potential too, i was so disappointed.
first off, i know she’s 18 which kinda justifies how she acted at times, but it was just too much for me. him saying “she was so mature” like bro whats your definition of mature? cause mine sure as hell ain’t that one. she was being so childish and always fought with him for the stupidest reasons. AND THE NEXT LINE, NOT PAGE, THEY WOULD BE FINE? like hello???
this book was honestly so confusing. don’t get me wrong, i love the fighting and teasing and tension, like, i WILL eat that up, but this just felt stupid and pointless.
the beginning was honestly amazing and i was so excited, but tbh it just kept on dragging and i got bored. also, in mu opinion, she forgave him way too fast. like mister ethan needed to GROVEL, i did not see that anywhere.
although most of this was bad, i really liked the kiss cam scene and the way he’d always be saying her name likeee okayy ethan, go you.
so, to wrap up, i didnt really like but, that was probably me and how i wished and expected this story to go. also the beginning reminded me of the movie first daughter, a reason why i was so excited to read this book.
I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and I currently have no regrets. Now we know this may change but let’s stay in the moment while it lasts.
I adore the relationship developed between Ethan and Georgie (we will call her that). It was indeed really fast though. Like they met and boom, it was tension ifykyk. It’s not a sort of enemies to lovers story but more like she pushes while he pushes back because he is her bodyguard (forbidden romance). When they split though, it’s for at least a month tops and the man doesn’t even grovel. It’s like, he makes a bet saying if he wins the tennis match, they can go on a date, she accepts, and boom, she lets him win. Maybe.. something in this section could have been improved even more.
The fact that the president, fmc father, really approved of this relationship and understood why Ethan wanted a reassignment was thoughtful I would say.
Can we talk about the epilogue, so cute and so sexy. There are still some unanswered questions like, what happens next in the future? What happened to Jeremy? (Believe it or not, I actually liked the guy) What about Lucy?
About the book: Georgie Adams (18) is the daughter of the President, and Ethan Salisbury (23) is the agent assigned to look after her. They both know each other is off limits. But the more time they spend together, the more the lines start blurring.
Review: - I loved Ethan so much. He was patient, reliable, and hella stubborn. The perfect grumpy mmc! - Georgie was even more stubborn than Ethan, which I loved. She was strong, sassy, and outgoing! - Their romance was a slow burn, but the chemistry and the tension between them were fantastic. I loved their back-and-forth banter and I loved how Georgie constantly pushed Ethan’s buttons 😂 - There were a lot of sweet and heartwarming moments that will seriously make you smile. The epilogue was just the cutest. It made me so happy 🥹 - This was super easy to read! I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. - This was my first book by this author, and it will definitely not be the last. I can’t wait to read her other books!
Read if you like: - Forbidden romance - President’s daughter x bodyguard - Grumpy x sunshine - Slow burn romance - Forced proximity - Dual POV - A little bit of sports romance 🎾
*Thank you to C.W. Farnsworth for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
This follows Georgie the presidents daughter. Beautiful, smart and push buttons and get her way. Ethan gets called to the Presidents quarters and is now assigned her security detail.
This was a great easy listen for Audiobook. I loved Georgie and how she pushed Ethan’s buttons. The Tennis element was great with someone who has a past in the sport just the casual hitting was great. The sneaking around is always fun! Overall a great book the only thing with the Audiobook I struggled with the FMC doing the MMC role.

"Georgie." "I like it when you say my name like that." "Like what?" "Like you're annoyed with me but also like you're thinking of kissing me."
Here's what to expect from Serve, an addictive new adult romance you will most definitely binge (I finished it in 24 hours): - Forbidden romance: First Daughter and Secret Service Agent (I know, say less, am I right? 😆). - Set in both DC and Stanford - Dual perspectives - Bonding over a shared love of tennis - Opposites attract - Lots of forced proximity including an unexpected visit home to see Ethan’s family. - A slow-burn romance with amazing chemistry and sexual tension that makes sure you're unable to put this book down. "Georgie and I are balanced on a knife's edge. One where looks linger and words weigh a lot." - A dash of spice (hello, library scene 🥵).
Ethan is the kind of guy you want to date your daughter. He's reliable, trustworthy and loyal - becoming a Secret Service Agent to follow in his late father's footsteps. But he was also so torn between being possessive and protective of Georgie. I have to admit, I did love it when his possessive side came out to play 😏.
Meanwhile, Georgie is confident and sassy. Case in point: "pissing Ethan off feels like foreplay." I empathised with her and her struggle to be happy for her dad (you know, the President), while also missing the time when he was just her father. Her dynamic with Ethan was electric and addictive from the beginning.
I definitely recommend reading Serve if you're looking for a binge-worthy forbidden new adult romance.
Phew - the sexual tension in this book. I kept reading and thinking - it’s gonna happen - it’s gonna happen - 🥵 I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting for that line to be blurred.
Thank you so much for letting me be on the ARC team for this book. I loved the alternating POVs for Ethan and Georgie and hearing about how they each felt as lines were crossed and eventually blurred. One of my favorite things about this author’s writing is how the dialogue is so believable, among friends, among family, among co-workers…it’s relatable and authentic and never feels forced or phony.
“I thought I was up to the challenge. Qualified. Prepared. I never considered the toughest trial might be this. Might be her.”
CW Farnsworth has very quickly become one of my new fave contemporary authors. Such amazing love stories and serve delivered exactly what i was looking for.
Presidents daughter and her sexy secret service agent. They were so cute 😭
Can’t wait to continue going through this authors backlist.
I needed more forbiddenness!! The couple don’t do anything until the very end which is fine but I would have like some juiciness before that like… accidentally hand touch’s/ holding… a drunk kiss.. jealous interaction from the mmc to a guy flirting with the fmc.. because of the lack of forbiddenness.. the story became quite repetitive and stale. Hey I would have gone all out. I was waiting and waiting…
Also the ending felt very rushed. The reconciliation felt like the reader would blink and miss it. The main problem was that both main characters were stationed in different states which logically made it harder for the author to write a reconciliation. The whole ending felt like it was missing something.
What pushes this up to a three stars is that I really like the fmc. I thought she was spunky and fierce. She stood her ground and I found her hilarious at times. I loved being inside her head.
Can’t get over the fact that her name is Georgie… and she is 18.. WHYY? I beg authors to make their characters ADULTS pleaseee. Also this American obsession of making young adults marry as soon as possible is just uncomfortable to me.
Although I generally do not reach for books involving political figures, this one caught my eye as the main character, Georgie Adams, is the daughter of the President, and the focus is on her and not her dad. Ethan Salisbury is her assigned bodyguard and their first face to face meeting did not fare well as far as initial impressions go. Ethan is the youngest and newest member of the Secret Service team, but also very highly accomplished and skilled. He’s been chosen because he can blend in better with Georgie when she starts college in the fall at Stanford.
I loved Georgie’s bold and direct manner. She is intelligent, athletic and shares her father’s charisma when it comes to interacting with the public. Ethan is more reserved, serious and intense. He may be competitive, but he’s also loyal and reliable. Georgie seems reckless and disobedient to him, but she’s simply trying to live a normal teen life and finds small ways to defy authority because she didn’t ask to be the First Daughter and all the burdens it comes with. Ethan is fighting his feelings with his duty because he can’t have both, but Georgie challenges him every step of the way.
The chemistry is fantastic and these two have an undeniable attraction that goes from simmering to boiling. I liked the writing style and dialogue. As much as this delves into both of the characters, there’s still certain things missing, like whether Ethan figured out if his calling is his dad’s legacy or his own. As much as I liked Ethan, he’s not as multi dimensional or interesting as Georgie. There could’ve been more build up between them near the end, as well as simply more scenes of them together once the dust settled. I think some of that got glossed over too quickly. I also wouldn’t have minded a bit more of the bodyguard aspect to highlight why Georgie needs protection, where something actually happened besides her attending parties and not checking in. Still, I was very much engaged and entertained by this story and wanted to keep reading from the beginning to the end, wishing there was more when it was finally finished.
I loved her character! She was strong and resilient, sassy, bold and outgoing and just sunshine! I guess I have to accept that reading c.w Farnsworth books mean that all her female characters are HOT 😂 I always seem to like the fmc’s more and that was the case here too.
I mean its not that I didn’t like Ethan, its just his character was really… bland, and ig Georgie outshone him?? I really did not care abt reading from Ethan’s pov unless it was about Georgie! The only thing I can say abt him is that this boy was S-T-U-B-B-O-R-N and loyal and in love with Georgie
Now Georgie and Ethan’s chemistry together was undeniable and EXPLOSIVE. I loved their banter and their genuine dislike towards each other in the beginning( this doesn’t mean that there wasn’t some attraction… trust me, they were ATTRACTED ATTRACTED lol) Their relationship was slow burn so we get so see the dynamics and their opinion of each other change. And I loved that this didn’t just happen overnight; we get to SEE them change! This was one of the biggest reasons I liked this book.
There was some serious angst and forbidness going on here lmao. bc when I say I was sweating…. pheww🥵 also was it just me or were Georgie Ethan giving kinda brat Dom vibes?? Georgie clearly loved to push his buttons 😭
Anyways give this book a chance, you WONT regret it! brb im on my way to read all the books by this author;)

Thank you so much for this ARC @authorcwfarnsworth!! This was my third book from Charlotte and I swear they just keep getting better. I couldn't put Serve down.
Having just visited DC for the first time it was so cool being able to have such a clear vision of the scenery and I felt like I was there.
Georgie having just graduated from high school is off to Stanford and assigned a new security detail to protect and "serve" the first daughter. Ethan is following in his father's footsteps in the secret service and has met his match in Georgie.
They challenge each other constantly, but as they get to know one another they realize how wrong their initial assumptions were. And now both are aware of the chemistry and mutual attraction that has grown over their time together. But nothing can happen.. right?
Ethan is the type of guy you want to bring home to dad. He's responsible, hardworking, protective, and reliable.. but behind closed doors, he lets go, losing control and let me tell you, we love to see his possessive side 🥵
I really enjoyed everything about this book. My only complaint is that I wanted more of these two! 😉 I didn't want to let them go!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over: 🤩 I loved this audiobook, and would totally listen again, but my notes have failed me because back to school/work life. 🤩 Bodyguard romance. The book blurb. 🤩 Perfectly cast—Lucy Rivers does such a sassy and smart Georgie. And Tim Paige in bodyguard mode, yes please. 🤩 Enemies-to-lovers. They are so annoyed with each other! 🤩 Secret attraction and pining. 🤩 That partner run. 🤩 The party scenes!! I listened to chapter 7 twice, thinking the banter and tension couldn’t get better. 🤩 And then it did! 🤩 When he ties her shoe, I’m smitten. 🤩 Canceled flights, it’s just us, you’re not staying her alone, take me with you then, and, oh yeah, one hotel room.
What I’m Wishing, Dizzy About: 💫 Nothing about the story or audiobook. Just better notes, I guess.
This book was an unexpected delight! It was my first read by this author but I can say it won't be the last. It was the light read I needed and it's about US's rebel first daughter Georgie and her new hot and grumpy secret service agent / bodyguard Ethan.
I really enjoyed the characters, they had fun personalities. Georgie is definitely an 18 years old girl and we see her navigate a life in public she didn't want or choose. And Ethan is such a dreamy H. Reliable, trustworthy, basically a great guy and since this is a romance book I can definitely say he was hot too.
I really liked their romance and how it developed. It had banter, sweet moments, angst and steam. Overall a great read for the summer if you're looking for something light and quick!
