The Legend of the Campbell Clan #12

For the Heart of a Highland Widow

Rate this book
Having defeated the Dewars, Sam Campbell is entrusted to serve as a mediator between the two clans. Upon his arrival at the Dewar's castle keep, the Laird's nephew is treated as a conqueror and responsible for Laird Dewar's death. However, the Highlander is not the only one who is unwelcome. The Laird's young widow, Merida, shares his fate…

Merida was true to her duty; as the daughter of a Laird, she married Laird Dewar to secure an alliance. However, she never anticipated spending her wedding night alone. Since she married Laird Dewar by proxy, Merida had never even laid eyes on her husband before news of his death on the battlefield against the Campbells arrived.

Unable to mourn a man she never met, Merida is constantly scorned and berated by the Dewar clan and her husband's mother. Moments before losing all hope, she realizes Sam Campbell could help her. However, blinded by grief and hatred, Merida's mother-in-law will stop at nothing to destroy the Campbells, starting with their new visitor. Sam.

Sam and Merida are natural enemies, but they must navigate through the Dewar clan's plots and schemes if they want to leave that castle with their lives. Will they be able to defeat their foes at their own game, or is this partnership the shortest way to their doom?

Sam Campbell had grown up with his mother Myra teaching him all she knew about being a blacksmith. When the time came for his uncle Cameron Campbell to send Sam to broker a peaceful transition with Clan Dewar Sam wasn’t exactly happy but he knew he must go. He never counted on the new lady of the clan, Lady Merida, who was also a widow to be his ally in the clan. Would he be able do as his uncle asked or be thwarted by the dowager Lady Elsa Dewar and her cronies? A page turner to the end with an ending you didn’t see coming!

Loved it

This was a great story, Lady Merida from the Drummond Clan was married to the Laird of the Dewer Clan. The Dewer clan went to war with the Campbell and lost, their laird killed. Sam Campbell was tasked with going to the Dewer clan to start the peace between the two clans when he falls for Lady Merida.

For the Heart of a Highland Widow

Another good story. It was shorter than some of them. I am glad Conner was still a fair Laird in the end.

What a cute little story about finding love in the strangest places. It is awesome that enemies can become your allies.
