Finding Grace

Rate this book
Jack is hired to find Grace Miller, a freshman at the University of Dayton who is missing. Her trail follows a descending path of degradation. And Jack, a new Christ-follower, must investigate with his faith intact.

Can he find Grace and if so, in what condition? Will he maintain his Christian integrity as he navigates a labyrinth of immorality? And finally, will he ultimately discover the meaning of experiencing freedom through God’s grace?

In a second storyline that began in Soul Pursuit, Jack seeks to expose Paxco, LLC, a company buying all the property in his neighborhood. Who owns it and what are they up to? The answer poses a greater threat than to just his neighborhood.

Jack is hired to find Grace Miller, a freshman at the University of Dayton who is missing. Her trail follows a descending path of degradation. And Jack, a new Christ-follower, must investigate with his faith intact.

It's been a year since the last Ex-Navy Seal Jack Sterling story. Once again Jack does not disappoint. From the start Jack is on the move as his attempts to find a missing girl puts to test not just his sense of justice, but his sense in a greater good.
Chip Tudor (author) once again manages to make Jack a fun, yet serious character with a relatable center core that makes for good reading. His (author) knack for building characters and worlds that are easily believable is a trade mark I for one have come to expect from Chip and his stories.
Finding Grace takes Jack (the reader as well) on a journey through the ravages of a cult, drugs and alcoholism. All very real and relatable topics that add a very palatable familiarity to the story and in turn to the characters.
I would be remiss to mention the illustrator James Graves who also did the cover for the first book. The theme and colors give the overall series a continuity that does much more than catch the eye, it reveals what you can expect before you even begin to read the story.
The author is an excellent writer not just in his fiction works, but his non-fiction work as well. His ability to make the reader feel comfortable regardless of the topic and on edge when the topic calls for it.
Finding Grace reads well and is paced evenly, moving smoothly from stat to finish, making it and excellent sequel to the first book.

Jack is a private detective and I like how he methodically follows leads to complete his assignment. In that respect, this novel is a good detective procedure one. Tudor adds a nice balance of Jack's private life with his investigative work. Jack is a new Christian and I really like how Tudor relates Jack's struggles to figure out this new life. In that respect, Tudor's novels are probably the best I have read when it comes to portraying the reality of living the Christian life. Tudor is also a clever writer with some great humor and pithy lines. My favorite in this novel might be on Jack observing a young fellow on a college campus constantly flicking and preening his hair, either a sign of sexiness or flees.

Tudor has included serious issues in his plot, such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation and getting sucked into a cult. Those make for good heroic work by Jack. But my favorite aspect of the novel is Jack growing in his Christian life. It is really authentic. I do hope there are more novels featuring Jack as he navigates his new spiritual reality while opposing the bad guys. While it is the second in a series, it reads well on its own.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the author. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I loved this inspirational tale with its entertaining and diverse cast of characters. What happened to Grace? What my favorite private eye, jack Sterling, finds is startling. The dilemma is complex, and how he resolves it is totally satisfying.

Expect the unexpected from a main character who sometimes struggles as he finds his own way, but through it all displays a thought-provoking blend of courage, compassion, and humility, along with a healthy dose of hard-hitting decisiveness at the most delightfully surprising moments. Expect some good laughs along the way as Jack navigates a very serious situation.

I read book one in the series, Soul Pursuit, and loved it, so I was excited to receive a complimentary review copy of, Finding Grace. And author Chip Tudor didn't let me down. He delivered another great detective story!
