It's clear the author is trying to give student council members a backstory but by focusing too much on them the author takes away from the main characters. Normally I'd be perfectly fine with characters getting a chapter or being introduced here and there throughout the book but in this book almost the entire volume focuses on the student council and the characters within the council. Their love interest , their past and potential future is focused on more than anything in this volume. I'd say maybe there's a chapter or two about the main characters and their story whereas everything else is pretty much student council. I have to give this one three stars it's just not deserving of anything higher.
