I really enjoyed this series up to this point. While I understand the author is trying to create a backstory or side story for other events and characters it felt almost as if I had to force myself to read this book. Chapters seemed to drag on focusing mostly on student council members which I found dry and uninteresting. After quite a while the story finally gets back on track to the main characters but I can't recommend this volume because I almost dropped the series due to how it was written. For rating I'm going to give it 3.5 Stars and round it up to four stars. It's definitely not a five star. Hopefully the author doesn't focus so much on the student council in future volumes and gets back to the characters that we enjoy reading about. I read the Japanese version of this book so my review will show from months prior to release in English.
holy shit i hate the male lead so fucking much! and his stupid girl best friend!
from where we are in the story, it’s already established the the female and male lead likes one another, it’s basically a waiting game on who makes the first move/decision to move forward in the relationship (bc obviously, it’s hard to know what to do when you’re step siblings LMFAO) and like i love a good mutual pining story line, don’t get me wrong
BUT THE WAY THE GIRL BEST FRIEND IS STILL IN THE PICTURE AND LITERALLY THROWING HERSELF TO THE MALE LEAD AND HE’S NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT??? i don’t fucking care if he already establishes that he loves his ex/step-sister only, but why are you letting this girl be a bitch in heat for you? classless! barbaric! i hate you!
i just have to be patient to see how this unfolds in the future volumes but the romantic moments between the male lead and female lead are not enough to suffice for the most annoying cockblock on earth! aka the STUPID GIRL BEST FRIEND! I HATE YOU!

Yume Irido has been invited to be a member of the Student Council where she runs into Ran Asuhain who is ticked off at Yumi for beating her on the class rankings. Then there is the whole sports festival planning and execution which gives Yumi a chance to put a claim on Mizuto after her attempts at being a femme fatale failed. Interesting additions to the cast with the Student Council members! A fun addition to the series.
Both Yume & Mizuto grow in their feelings for the other and in their personas. Falling for the real person, not your image of them (or their past selves) is dangerous and difficult. A good chapter in that processes for both MCs.
