Immortal Protector #1

Vampire's Deception

Rate this book
A naïve woman falls for her mysterious savior—only to face buried secrets, blood betrayals, and a love that could destroy them both.
Daisy
First responders aren’t supposed to freeze—but the dead shouldn't move. Now the "animal" killing people around town is after me next. Torn open by something inhuman, I wake delirious and dying... until a stranger offers me his blood. Drink or die. I choose to live—and it changes everything. Now I’m trapped in a war between deadly supernatural factions and surrounded by secrets, lies, and monsters who make sheep's clothing fashionable. The only thing I know for sure? My heart is drawn to Oliver—my infuriating, irresistible rescuer. But if I fall for him, it might be the last mistake I ever make.

Oliver
My brother’s killing spree should’ve taught me to stay far away—but guilt made me call in his latest victim’s rescue. Then she shows up. Beautiful. Dangerous. Wearing my long-lost weapon like it was made for her. She's hiding something, and I'm going to seduce the truth--and my ring--out of her. I should’ve walked away.
Instead, I lied.
Got close.
Something about her wakes a hunger I haven’t felt in a century. But the deeper I fall, the more I realize she isn’t just some pawn in this war—she might be the key to ending it. And I might be falling for the one person I was born to kill.

A steamy urban fantasy romance series featuring a charismatic, rich, smoking hot bad boy with a heart of gold, the woman he protects from his mortal enemies, who has secrets of her own, and a gritty hidden world of feuding vampires, witches, and elves in small town Marinette, Wisconsin. Perfect for fans of angsty supernatural soap operas!

Vampire's Deception is the first book of the Immortal Protector series. Oliver and Daisy's story continues in Vampire's Secret (book 2) and concludes in Vampire's Promise (book 3). Each book has an HFN and the HEA is at the end of the trilogy.

What vampire

Daisy was a paramedic and after being called to the scene of what appeared to be a basketball player in the park bitten by a dog supposedly dead but moved. The basketball player ended up having his life taken by a man who broke his neck. Oliver arrives on the scene and he and Daisy become friends. Well Daisy wanted more. Deaths where starting to happen across the city and supposedly from dog bites. Oliver knew it was his brother Siren and he even saved Daisy from Soren. Oliver was a vampire and he finally told Daisy the reason he pursued her was for her antique ruby ring. The ring was to allow him to walk in the sun. Oliver just didn't know why Siren wanted Daisy for. Daisy's dad was a doctor who did a lot of research and that leads us to the reason Daisy is needed for a certain serum. The book keeps you interested.

I tried... I really did. I hate to add anything to DNF but this one just... ugh.

I see a lot of positive reviews for this book and I'm baffled. The writing is just non-sensical. Responses to situations make no sense. The FMC is nearing 30 and yet is concerned with whether someone thinks she's cool enough to attend a party? After being repeatedly attacked by a vampire? And finding out her best friends are supernatural? I don't get it. The encounters are all cheesy but also... I don't know. Immature? Unnatural? Take your pick. Add to that the grammar mistakes that are rampant and absolutely disconnect you from the story....

I don't mean any disrespect to the author and I'm clearly in the minority here as this book is currently at 4+ stars. It's just not for me.

This was a quick, easy read that I started on my Kindle while on vacation and finished once I got home. I really enjoy supernatural and paranormal romance books, and this one had plenty of fun elements that kept me engaged.

The only thing that didn’t quite work for me was the car talk that popped up during the bedroom scenes. The first reference made me laugh, but as it continued, it started to feel a bit out of place and just not for me. I’m not sure if that theme carries on in the rest of the series, but I think I’m okay stopping here and enjoying this book for what it was — a light, entertaining paranormal romance.

Meh

This book isn't terribly well-written. Misspellings and grammar errors in a novel really drive me crazy. The female lead keeps recapping what's happened so far, which is annoying and unnecessary. Maybe because this was a Vile Vella serial, it feels a little disjointed in places. I enjoyed the story, overall, and plan to read the rest of the series, but I'll be wishing for an editor's touch (and for Vella serials to stop being a thing - but that's another review)

This is a very good, entertaining PNR/UF with defined main characters, violence, danger, mystery, and misconception as all is not what it seems. The storyline is well-paced and has action and adventure. I would like to read more in this engaging and enjoyable series. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Vampire’s Deception: A Steamy Paranormal Urban Fantasy Romance (Immortal Protector Book 1)

I couldn’t quite figure out just which way this story was going to go but that’s what is so good about this book! I sure didn’t see it this way at all but if you read the book you will see what I mean. It is well worth the read with plenty of excitement.

I really enjoyed this book. This author really knows how to create a world that you can really find yourself getting lost in. Watching Oliver save Daisy and the story unfolding from there with a little mystery and danger and some steamy and intense scenes, create a fast paced story.
A great start to the series and I cannot wait to read more!

Totally AWESOME 😁

I truly enjoyed reading this story and recommend it highly 😃. This story definitely shows that even though Witches, Vampires and Elves can be enemies, sometimes they can be just people trying to survive 😉. Thanks so much Stephanie, I really Loved this story and look forward to reading more 🤓.

I liked this book series so far, but it is very similar to the vampire diaries at times. Is still worth the weed for anyone interested in series like this. I wasn’t expecting the other supernatural characters, which was both good and bad. As it was not what I was expecting this story has great romance, characters, and more.

You know a book is good when…

You keep thinking about it in the time between being able to read it and you look forward to getting back to it. This is one of those books. Can’t wait for the next one in the series!

I really loved the voice in this. Oliver is an excellent character and Daisy works. There were some world building elements I wasn't totally in love with and the end came very quickly, but I would absolutely read another solely to spend more time with Oliver's character.

A great mix of fantasy and reality.
Misspellings and grammar errors did take away from the story but not horribly.

Eh

Look, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and had to DNF several books for being horribly written, so at least I finished this one. But…I can’t even explain how many highlights I made in this due to grammar issues or inconsistencies or plot holes.

This book is in SERIOUS need of an editor. We aren’t just talking about finding misspellings or grammar mistakes. We are talking about HUGE inconsistencies. As an example, we are told in one sentence that Daisy enters an ambulance. The next sentence has her leaning her back against her fence. Um?!

Also, the romance? Meh. MEEEEH! The storyline and plot? THIN!! I don’t know. AND we are told there’s another book? Even though this one leaves off at a perfectly reasonable HEA?! No Thanks.
