This method of self-hypnosis is unique in that you give yourself the suggestion BEFORE you put yourself in hypnosis and allow the suggestion to go into your subconscious mind. With some other methods, you put yourself in hypnosis and then give yourself the suggestion. Because you are using your conscious mind when you give yourself suggestions, you are lightening the hypnotic state.
With this method of self-hypnosis, you give yourself the suggestion before you put yourself into hypnosis; therefore, the conscious critical mind is not active while you are in hypnosis, and the suggestion goes directly into the subconscious mind. I did not “invent” this method of self-hypnosis. The original idea of giving yourself a suggestion before you go into hypnosis originated with Harry Arons in his book, Master Course in Hypnotism. I knew Harry well, and he gave me his blessing to use this method of self-hypnosis. I’ve adopted his method and added my own touches. I teach this method of self-hypnosis to all my clients and to students I train for certification.

Insights of self-hypnosis

There is so much to learn about hypnosis. I’m a hypnotist and learned so much from this book. Ready to use what I learned to help others. The more people who know how to use hypnosis the better this world will be. So read this to help yourself and to help others. It is easy as 1, 2, 3. Enjoy.

Makes self- hypnosis easy to learn!

I've read several books on self hypnosis and I will say this is the best! Joanne Abrahamsen provides a strategic process to develop suggestions and this is something I have not seen in a lot of self-hypnosis books. She has a simple, quick method to self hypnotize yourself for 3 minutes a day. Well, I can fit that in my schedule! There are several chapters on different issues like weight loss and smoking. If you're interested in self-hypnosis, I highly recommend this book! Worth every penny!

Joann provides the tools for phenomenal change and outlines hypnotic suggestions for diverse topics including weight loss, pain control and enhancing focus. She outlines the process so the reader can apply this technique to facilitate any positive change in only three minutes a day. Highly recommend!

Follow along with an open mind

Enjoyed this book so much I purchased the hard copy to write notes in the margins. YES, you can hypnotize yourself. I am using it to practice and prepare for Continuing Education courses. As I am a retired senior citizen, this is a tremendous help in remembering what I am learning.
