As the brutal Second World War stretches on with no end in sight, life for ordinary Dutch people in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands is fraught with peril and hardship. There is very little to eat and the population lives under the constant threat of arrest and enslavement.
After the murder of her beloved uncle and the capture of her brother by the Germans, Edda is determined to do anything she can to help the resistance fight back against their oppressors. But what can a teenage girl do and how much risk is she willing to take?
Award-winning author Tom Palmer shines a light on the incredible work of the WWll Dutch resistance, in a story inspired by the childhood of Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn.
This is a story about strength, determination and giving people the benefit of the doubt. Edda is an inspiration to others. I'd highly recommend it to anyone aged 9 and over.
I absolutely loved this book. I think that Palmer has framed the war in such a beautiful way, from the eyes of a civillian fighting with the rebellion. Edda is such a strong and influencial individual. I loved how it captured the details of starvation and blocking real world situations out with fantasys. 5 star.

A gripping story that immerses you in the world of the young Audrey Hepburn. An absolute page- turner! I know my Year 5 class will just love this book as much as D-Day Dog.
This book was amazing. The writing styles, the character development and the descriptions were incredible. It was realistic to the time it was set it and it was also an emotional book that really made you feel what the characters were going through.
resist is a adventurous book about a girl who was hiding everyday because of the war. I loved this book because there was a lot of plot twists and from the very first page, it was so good that I was already drawn into the book and did not notice anything that was happening eslsewhere.
