Lance thought he'd found the man he would spend his life with, only to get burned in the end. In order to protect his heart and his son Brady, he decided to swear off men for good, and focus on being the best dad he could be. But just when he least expects it, temptation comes strolling in with a pair of intense golden eyes that capture Lance's attention and crumbles his resolve.
A man named Hunter won't give up when it comes to winning Lance's heart, and the way Hunter accepts Brady may just have Lance ready to give into temptation after all.
I live in rural Ohio with my husband and two sons who drive me nuts, but I love them with all my heart. I enjoy reading and writing romance of all types, but gay romance is my forte and favorite! Twice the sexy men? Yes, please! My books tend to be low angst because it hurts my heart, but they do contain lots of heartfelt moments, steamy scenes and a healthy dose of humor. Thank you to everyone for checking out my page and I hope you enjoy my books. Happy reading!
Whoa, that ending...I think it may have been the sweetest one yet.
Like the previous book, this one picks up right after the previous book where Cedric is very much preggers and Brandon is publishing his comic book.
One day Hunter, Talon, and Brandon go into a cafe and again the fate fairy hits. This time its Hunter and Lance. But unlike the others, this mating takes a whole week as Lance has a son Brady, and obviously you can't mate on day one.
Eventually after a week, they are all one big happy pride.
Though who is Brady gonna grow up and meet for his mate?
The good + Hunter's patience for Lance + Hunter wooing Lance (and Brady) + Hunter's bond with Brady + Involving Brady in their dates + Immediate acceptance of Brady and Lance into the pride
The neutral o The pride members were not very smart when . But in their defense, they really didn't know they were doing something wrong o This is all my personal feelings on the matter, and it doesn't reflect on the quality of the book. But Cedric and Asher were expecting a baby, and everyone was so excited. And then it kind of felt like the author made Hunter steal their thunder by showing up with a kid. I would have preferred Cedric's baby to already have been born
The bad - In Talon's book, he had to claim Brandon really soon or Talon would go feral. Hunter acted like he had all the time in the world to woo Lance - Hunter and Lance shared their love declarations before Hunter had told Lance his secret, which made them lose some impact for me - No shifted time for Hunter :(
I liked this book the best out of the series so far. I'm looking forward to the next book about the twins, but I still really want a HEA for Grady. He's so adorable.
Actually, like this one way better than the one before. I still think it would’ve been better if it was a little longer. This one had a little more storytelling and unless hanky-panky, which I appreciate.
This was another sweet read by Jayda Marx. She really does corner the market on fluffy insta-love stories. I loved how earnest Hunter was even in the face of Lance’s caution. Having been burnt before, Lance didn’t want to jump into anything to quickly and risk hurting his son, Brady. It was nice to see Lance finally let his guard down and let Hunter in. They made for a cute little family unit.
Here are my issues:
Why do most of the MCs have parents that can’t tolerate their homosexual child? It does a slight disservice to all the great loving and accepting parents out there. I also didn’t love that Brady was used as a vehicle to interrupt a moment we had all been waiting for: the first kiss. This is usually my biggest pet peeve with kids in books: they get used as distractions. I also found it odd that seeing Cedric pregnant made Lance full on panic when hey, trans people exist. A pregnant man isn’t the oddest thing in 2022. 🤷🏻♀️ As a homosexual man, Lance wouldn’t have been completely ignorant to the fact that some men get pregnant.
Overall, a cute if underwhelming read. But I’ll always come back for more with Marx because you just can’t beat her fluff.
4/5. Highlights may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Wow, this was a cute story!
Brady is one of the most easiest to deal with four year olds, but I expect that sort of suspension of disbelief with Jayda. The romance between Lance and Hunter was very sweet, and I enjoyed how Hunter was a bit of a himbo. Lance cared a lot for his son and I’m glad he considered him in decisions he made around relationships.
This was a major improvement from Submission - I’m glad to see that Marx seems to be in the writing flow again. I’m really looking forward to the twins’ book.
One little nitpick is the idea that pregnant men are an impossibility of science despite the fact there are quite a few trans men who have carried and given birth to their children. Let’s normalize this!
The third book in the Lions of Locust Falls series is as fresh and fun as the first two. No, there isn't a pride of lions stalking a pickup truck, but there is a bouncy trampoline date. Hunter finds his mate when stopping for a bite to eat. But Lance is a two-fer package. He has a four year old son. Hunter and Brady bond over games and a giant gorilla stuffie. And seeing him so happy, causes Lance to fall hard for his mate! The "hey, I'm a shifter" reveals are hysterical. The found family and love these men all share with each other and the new mates, is wonderful. Can't wait for the next in series.
The pride is back and Hunter is up. This is a Insta love story, sweet and to the point. Hunter is the third member to find his mate and is so sweet and charming when it comes to Lance and Brady.
Lance was hurt in the past, yet he picked himself up and kept moving forward for his sons sake. If you love a good HEA and low angst look no further
Hunter finally meets his mate, a sweet and beautiful man named Lance. Lance works very hard and takes care of his four year old son, Brady. When they meet, Hunter knows Lance is his. He sets out to win both man and boy. This is another sweet story that shows a loving relationship, the pride, a young boy getting a lot of supportive uncles and a check in with Cedric who is still pregnant in this one. Looking forward to the twins story next.
Great book this one is about finding your soulmate but you are scared because the man that left you with nothing left you after adopting a child but in walks out on you than Hunter he new when he walked in he found his soulmate all it took was time to shows he wasn’t going anywhere
This is a moving story about finding the love of your life and accepting them completely. The idea of a family that is chosen is tenderly handled and central to the story.
Aww! This was the sweetest story of the series so far. Hunter is patient and sweet with Lance. Brady is just the cutest four year old. I'm happy we got to see more of Cedric's pregnancy in this one. I can't wait for the rest of the pack to find their mates.
I absolutely love any and everything that Jayda Marx writes, I can't get enough of them. I love that they're short, sweet, low-angst instalove stories and series. I'll easily read three or four in a day. With a bubble bath and a glass of wine? Even better
I’ve loved every word so far of this series and this book is excellent. Single dad meet lion shifter , who falls in love with the father and his young son and becomes a lovely family . Highly recommended
If you understand awkward or clumsy, check out what happens when Hunter, a lion shifter, scents his human mate, Lance. Neither one will be quite the same! Enjoy!!!
