The writing in the series remains very good. We see the troubles Peter deals with in his personal life and the ones he has to face when he is behind the mask of Spiderman.

What's the deal with Romita's art? The same person can be so different from panel to panel.

Spideyyy! Tentokrát se kromě akčních scén řeší hlavně odvrácená strana Petera Parkera - a je to super.

The only thing I find ridiculous is the amount of times Mary Jane and aunt May call spider-man piter and noone hears them. Apart from that it was a very interesting continuation to the amazing spider-man comics.

They don't make them like this anymore. These are characters for which I actually care and I suppose nostalgia plays a massive role too. In this one Aunt May figures out that Peter is Spiderman and instead of being the complete nuisance she generally is, here a lot of weight seems to be lifted off her shoulders and her true emotional strength shines through. I was not expecting a doctor strange cameo and certainly didn't think he'd be helping spiderman enter and leave the astral plane to save several kids. Then a few volumes later spidey fights against, and with during certain points, doctor Octavius to prevent Carlyle from stealing Otto's tech. I still firmly believe that Tobey Maguire is the best depiction of this character based on the comics I've read so far.

What's pretty cool about this is how Aunt May tells her nephew that a movie would be made about him one of these days and Spidey himself acknowledges this possibility. I rated it 5 stars because how could I not? It literally has amazing in the title. It came as a surprise to me that Peter and Mary Jane were married and then their relationship needed a break. I feel bad for Peter but it's a fact that he does always heed his uncle's words. the whole great power great responsibility sort of thing. Awesome character overall Peter :) I don't quite like how Mary Jane loves modelling and also gets an opportunity to participate in a movie but solely seems to be there for the purpose of being sexualised and objectified. The sexism doesn't quite bode well with me despite it being the sad truth.

The troubles in Peter's private life are exacerbated not only by his unsuccessful attempts to reconcile with Mary Jane, but also by Aunt May discovering his secret identity. As Spider-Man he begins investigating a number of disappearances among the disadvantaged kids of New York's streets, encounter a villain caught between two planes of reality, the Shade.

At first I was a bit unimpressed with this book primarily on the basis that it didn't seem to be taking advantage of the benefit of Spider-Man's excellent rogues gallery of antagonists (well, except for a late appearance by Doc Ock). The new villain, the Shade, certainly doesn't measure up.
So, without a convincing antagonist, what does this book have to offer? Well, it actually has a great deal to offer if, like me, you're invested in Peter Parker's personal life.
Dealing with Aunt May discovering his dual identity, revealing his guilt over Uncle Ben's death, as well as May's own revelations about the day Ben died, there's some real emotional weight to the issues explored. But, for me, Peter's romance with Mary Jane has always been a core part of Spider-Man as a character, so I was particularly invested in seeing the two of them try to reconnect but struggling to put their shattered marriage back together amid the pressures of their respective lives as a superhero and a model-slash-actress.

Unfortunately, just as I was fully engaged with this book it did something that definitely knocked it down a peg for me.
There's a scene on a movie set featuring the fictional-in-universe superhero Lobster-Man where a Producer and a Writer get into a dispute over the hero's origins. The dispute is whether the hero's traditional science-based origin is better, as the Writer and fans on the internet think, or whether, as the Producer wants, there should actually be the involvement of some sort of mystical lobster god.
This whole scene is way too on-the-nose regarding the changes in Spider-Man's own origins from this very era of Spidey tales.
I can't tell whether this is the writer pushing back against an editorial directive or if it's Straczynski calling-out internet trolls, but either way it felt more jarring than meta and I was not a fan (the irony of complaining about it on the internet is not lost on me).

A tia may finalmente descobre quem é o homem aranha
Mas mais importante
Que é o seu sobrinho
Peter Parker
Morreu
Por essa vida de vigilante
É uma história linda
Enfim é uma história incrível do homem aranha
Agora

I have to be honest: after the previus entry by Straczynski I had very low espectations with this one. However it struck me with a heartfelt story, a great lesson about trust. Curiously enough, all the “superhero stuff” embedded with the dramatic story was of vastly inferior quality (the mystical villain and the new doctor octopus felt like fillers). It is well worth its value for the aunt May and the destitute child tales.
