From Harlequin Desire: A luxurious world of bold encounters and sizzling chemistry.
You’ll be swept away by this bold, sizzling romance, part of The Eddington Heirs series:
Book 1: Inconvenient Attraction Book 2: The Nanny Game Book 3: Two Rivals, One Bed Book 4: A Game of Secrets Book 5: The Secret Heir
Zuri Day is a hopeful romantic. She believes in happy endings, half-full glasses and dreams coming true. That's why she's thrilled to be a contributing writer to this genre...one of her favorites!
Zuri doesn't remember exactly how old she was when she picked up her first romance novel, but she does remember it was love at first sight. "It was probably a Harlequin," she recalled during a recent interview. "And it thankfully took me away from a fairly dull and routine existence growing up in a small Kansas town."
Things aren't dull and routine anymore. Zuri now resides in Los Angeles with her family and when she isn't writing loves to travel the world, cook vegetarian food, work out, watch sports, attend concerts and theatre and enjoy the simple things in life.
"Many people have given up on love, much less romance," Zuri says. "I'm hoping that somehow, through the love-filled pages of my romance novels, I can ignite the reader's desire to believe again. Because everything is possible, when we believe..."
I kind of enjoyed this quick & little spicy read even though the heroine pissed me off a time or two. Like girl, where the hell is your spine? 🤦🏾♀️ The hero is a saint because I personally cannot tolerate this level of cowardice.
My lord this was frustrating. This is the most disappointing Harlequin Desire book I’ve picked up and it’s so sad because the cover is beautiful and the idea is compelling. Like we start off strong with a hot set up with the characters having fun banter and whatnot. The idea of fucking without taking off the masks? Hot. The sex itself… Jesus fuck the opening sex scene was bad.
“He wanted to connect his stem to her flower”
“His groin was ready to burst”
“He French kissed her nether lips and nibbled on her Pearl”
Describing her ass cheeks as her meaty globes? Like I can’t.
Between the sex scene and the blatant misogyny the men in this book display, this book felt like it was written by a Christian conservative uptight older woman. And I don’t think that’s someone who should be writing a Harlequin.
Sasha is fine as a main character but nothing relatable or exciting. Besides that all of the other characters are absolutely horrendous. All of the men and Sasha’s mother in this book somehow managed to be insufferable assholes while also being some of the most dull characters to grace the page. Linc was a gross controlling manipulator who displayed mentally abusive tendencies with how he worked so hard to trap her that he was almost a caricature of a bad man. Jake is constantly being sold to us as this suave charismatic man but he wasn’t exciting in the least. He solely referred to women as females. He blamed her for things that he was guilty of as well or gaslit her into thinking she was a bad person when responding to people’s toxicity towards her. The author was trying so bad to tell us that this man knows where the G spot is but I am not convinced. The kisscam scene pissed me off. And then of course Sasha’s family cutting her off for getting out of a bad relationship.
The writing wasn’t terrible in terms of dialogue and familiarity but I need better characters in my romance for it to stand out. And I’m so used to having Harlequin novels to scratch a particular itch and make me smile and it was disappointing to not feel that with one of these for the first time.
Hot and Spicey read. Sasha travels from Washington DC to Point du Sable to help her godmother plan a holiday event. While in Point du Sable she excited about meeting her childhood crush Jake Eddington a man she has been attracted to for a long time. Sasha decides to attend a party called HalloMask after talking to Reign which is Jake's sister not even thinking Jake would attend which he does. Sasha feels that finally away from her family she can be herself and let her guard down at this party and she does by getting busy with a stranger! Only this stranger is not a stranger its Jake Eddington her longtime crush. Once these two realize they were indeed together at this party let the games begin. Sasha's family is messy, and her ex Linc is just as manipulative as her own family even though they had already broken up but in the end the family comes around and the couple gets there HEA! The ending was sweet.
Jake and Sasha had no idea who each other was at the party. After all, it was a masquerade ball. After they “hooked-up”, they each went their separate ways. Little did she know that it was the object of her desire that she had just slept with! Sasha was enjoying being away from her ex fiancé. Sasha needed some excitement in her life. That’s why she was in PDS. Once they discovered their secret, they knew that no one would benefit from knowing. Lincoln, her ex, didn’t want to accept that she didn’t love him. Her entire family tried to bully her into taking him back. I’m just glad she realized she loved Jake instead. I just hope there’s another Eddington story on the horizon!! Thank you Zuri, for another amazing book!! ❤️🔥
I thought jumping into spicy scenes right away was a little too much. We didn't even get a chance to know the characters before it jumped right into them getting spicy. However, I ended up liking the book more than I thought I would. I love Sasha and Jake. They uplift each other. They are overall a good match. I did not like Lincoln or Pamela in this book they both pissed me off. This book consisted of romance, so if you enjoy that you should go read it.
I loved this fast pace love story. The only issue I had with the story is that the female was a real push over! There is no way I will allow others to make out my life plan ,regardless of whether it's family or not. I am really glad that in the end , she took her life into her own hands and followed her love & life path.
Book 4 of the Eddington heirs, was just as good as the other books Ms Day has effectively continued to write great books with great plot. Sh has done a great job with the continued the story throughout our all the series.
Sasha always did what her family expected of her but was not happy with their choice for a husband. In one night her life started to change , went she met Jake. Loved it.
The most unbelievable character was Pamela McDowell and Linc Trotter was just plain stupid. The way Sasha and Jack met at the Hallo party was cute and hot yet left Sasha in a tangled web of her own making but love proved to be stronger.
Jake Eddington is a confirmed bachelor. But his best friend's sister is the one woman he wants to get to know better. Sasha McDowell is determined to explore her wild side. She spends a night with Jake and things were never the sams.
This short romance is written like a wattpad story. Altough it starts of very formal and written as a 1950s novel, it randomly and quickly interupts itself in a teenagers way of writing a wet dream in their dairy.
This book.was.truly amazing. It held.my attention from beginning to the very end. Definitely an attention grabber. Thinking about reading it again at another time.
