Veterinarian Ashley Hart must connect the dots between a dog breeder and a tech firm to solve a man’s mysterious death.

While on an ordinary shopping trip, Aspen Falls, Colorado, veterinarian Dr. Ashley Hart encounters a dying stranger on the side of the road—and the man spends his final breaths uttering a nonsensical phrase that makes his demise appear quite suspicious. The mystery man’s worrisome passing is only the start for Ashley, who returns home to find a litter of kittens left on her front porch in a basket with an encrypted flash drive hidden inside.

Ashley learns that she’s more tied to the dead man and the source of the kittens than she could have guessed … and her close proximity to both puts her in the crosshairs of a killer. Struggling to find the connection between a high-class dog breeder, high-end souvenirs, and high-tech software, she finds herself in more than one potentially fatal situation. Can she solve her multiple mysteries before she uses up all nine of her lives?

This clever whodunit from Annie’s Mysteries of Aspen Falls series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, animals, and female friendships.

I liked this one. I am finding I am enjoying all the books from Annie’s Fiction. Now I just need to figure out if I should read another one, or swipe back the book I had intended to read next from my Daughter.

Tell Tail Clues is my favorite of the Mysteries of Aspen Falls so far. I have read other Gayle Roper books and was not surprised to find out how much I enjoyed this one. Any book with King Charles Spaniels gets a few extra points for me and Sweeting and her darlings won my heart and tons of smiles. These babies help ease the tough beginning for the reader and for Ashley, the vet who discovered a man in great distress on the edge of the road. From the tough beginning to a very satisfying ending, this book kept me lied to their little piece of Colorado.

Tell Tail Clues by Gayle Roper is a great whodunit. I love how there is a human center to these cozies. The characters are real and readers care about them. Some characters have backstories that explain their actions. They grow and change throughout the story.

Roper created a tightly-written mystery here. The would-be detective is veterinarian Dr. Ashley Hart. And Roper expertly intertwines the mystery with the animals and families Ashley tends to. Clues and overheard dialogue are misunderstood. And they begin with a man dying right before Ashley’s eyes.

Someone is selling high-tech software company MarleyHolmes’ product information. An investigator looking into the matter is murdered. The mysterious happenings increase. A prized show dog becomes ill. Someone is creating fake Native American artwork and scamming the public. As the puzzle pieces slowly come into place, a boy learns to be a man. And another discovers his worth. Human-centered storytelling coupled with mystery. Totally enjoyable. If you’re looking for a great cozy, Tell Tail Clues by Gayle Roper is the novel for you.

This is a really good story about solving a few mysteries in this story. This story has characters from previous stories and is part of a series. Ashley has a very interesting life as a vet in this small.
