Commanding Her Heart is part of the Heart Of A Wounded Hero Series. This story is for you if you love heart warming insta-love military romance stories. Cortez is the possessive hero who falls for a resilient woman with curves he can’t keep his hands off. All the books in the series are stand-alones.
The Heart of the Wounded Hero series was created to pay tribute to and raise awareness of our wounded heroes. Each of the over eighty authors involved have contributed time, money, and stories to the cause. These love stories are inspiring and uplifting, showing the sacrifice of our veterans but also giving them the happily ever after they deserve.
By increasing awareness through our books, we believe we can in a small part help the wounded heroes that have sacrificed so much.
This is an instalove, which isn’t my favorite trope to read but it is a cute story. There were times where I felt like there should’ve been more leading up to some situations. Like she didn’t want to impose on their dinner but didn’t mind moving in to be their nanny? And there was no thoughts leading up to it. Like all of a sudden this guy needs a nanny. There’s just a few instances like that where it seemed a little outlandish, otherwise, it was well written.
This is a book in The Heart of a Wounded Hero series and it is Emmy and Cortez's story and it is definitely a must read. Emmy has a roommate that is so irresponsible that it ends up with Emmy losing her apartment through no fault of her own and if that isn't bad enough she also ends up losing her job because someone lied about her and now she doesn't know what to do next. When Cortez sees Emmy he is instantly drawn to her and when they talk and he sees just how upset she is he decides that he is going to help her by offering her a job not knowing that this will change the course of there lives but will Cortez be able to break down the walls that Emmy has erected so high that it causes a big barrier between her and anyone trying to get close to her and give them a chance to have a happy ending or will they just remain friend's missing out on something special only time will tell. This Book has great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and had you turning the pages wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all and I can't wait to read more book's in the future by this author.
When it rains it pours! Poor Emmy has come upon strike three thanks to her irresponsible roommate and as a result she has no longer has an apartment. When she calls her friend, she suggests that she stay at her brother's dorm, but her brother had other ideas which has Emmy once again looking for a place to stay. If that isn't enough the brother calls his sister and lies and that causes Emmy to lose her job, so she is really in a bad way. Cortez spots Emmy and is immediately drawn to her and can tell that she is in distress. When they sit over breakfast, and she tells her story he offers her a job and with that it will start them along the journey that will lead them to their happily ever after! I was caught up in Cortez and Emmy's story and couldn't wait to see how it would end for this couple.

Down-on-her-luck female lead. "Everyone I love dies." Wounded hero. Attempted SA. Adorable secondary kid-character. Single dad. Nanny/ workplace relationship. Age gap. Instalove. Unplanned pregnancy.
The writing could be a bit stronger at times. Examples: ● Phrases like, ‘My c–k jolts awake’ from a grown man, just at the sight of a pretty female.
● Overuse of pet-name. Male lead is calling his new nanny “angel” and “angel eyes” and “my angel” before he has even known her for 24 hours.
The formatting was a bit odd, but I always knew who was speaking, it was easy on the eyes and comfortable No complaints.
Overall: A super cute, short, instalove read with lovable leads. Great for when you just want a quick read!
Romance trope: he loves the nanny Series: Heart of a Wounded Hero Length: 94 pages
Plot: Emmy is having a run of bad luck when she meets Cortez. The handsome older man is out with his son and just so happens to be looking for a nanny. Emmy is grateful for the opportunity but she isn't sure about Cortez's advances. She shouldn't be so hot for her employer, should she? He isn't about to take no for an answer though. He knows Emmy is the one for him.
Commentary: The description actually sounds creepy (older guy pursuing young nanny even if she says no). That's not exactly what happened. He was older...than her (not old). He was a dedicated single dad who really did need a nanny. He put on the charm, to be sure. And she wasn't really a nanny (although she was in a vulnerable state, so there's that). Still, he was a good guy in the end and they fell in love, legitimately. His son was adorable and sweet too, so that was a bonus.
This book is full of love, found family, and staying true to your ideals. The storyline is succinct and well written and flows perfectly with the characters. The depth of the characters and how they interact is what really makes this story so real. Emmy is sweet, innocent, and full of heart she is the perfect partner to Cortez who is raising his nephew after his sister passes. As a single dad he has a full plate and he hires Emmy as his nanny. This book makes you smile and the author totally entices you page by page. You will fall in love with all the characters.
Emmy is not having the best of days when an irresponsible roommate is the cause of losing her apartment and loses her job as well due to some lies. Cortez notices a woman in destress, and when they get chatting, she tells him everything, and he offers her a job as a nanny to his son, Miles. This is a well written story which pulls at the heartstrings, and has compassion, intrigue, romance, and love, which leads to a heartwarming page turner. With a string of bad luck, and bad people in her life, Emmy ends up losing her apartment and her job. Cortez meets her as she is again being treated poorly by someone. So Cortez, who suffers with asthma due to lung damage while in the military, offers Emmy the job of nanny for his son, Miles. Being together like that, they begin to fall in love with each other. Will they find a HEA together as a family? Or will her bad luck persist and force her to move on?
Cortez is an ex soldier that lives alone with his son and has some health issues after serving his country. One day they go out to celebrate Cortez birthday when they meet Emmy who just lost her apartment. As soon as Cortez sees the sweet younger woman his whole life changes. His son Miles is drawn to Emmy since the first second too🥰 Instalove, sweet, fairytale like, OTT, steamy, romantic and safe with a beautiful HEA and no drama😍😍😍😍
The author has given us a heartwarming story that pulls us into the lives of Emmy, Cortez and his son, Miles, and does not let go. A chance encounter brings them together, but will Cortez be able to break through the walls Emmy has placed around her heart?

Emmy was down on her luck when she not only lost her apartment, but her job as well. Meeting Cortez was good for her because he offered her a job. It was great for him because of the attraction he felt for her.
This was and entertaining military romance.

After being kicked out of her apartment AND losing her job, she ran into a pair of knights in shining armour. She was hired on the spot, but didn't want any involvement with the man of the house. Once they admitted their feelings for each other, they got their HEA.
Well written story and well developed characters! Serving under deplorable conditions he came home to get better! She is a dependent of the deaths from 911! Can they make it together?!?
Another winner in this series. This is a sweet romance between single dad Cortez and broke girl Emmy who is down on her luck after being taken advantage of by others. They just happen to meet when she gets dumped out of the car by a jerk. Cortez has asthma from lung damage that happened in the military, so he has to be careful. She becomes the nanny for Miles, who is adorable. She and Cortez fall in love and finally get together. Swoony scenes and definitely feel-good vibes.
