(5.0) Nostalgic. Awesome. Beautiful. I read this series as a kid and got this as a gift for Christmas and I’m so glad I did! Now I played Wendy in a production of Peter Pan so I knew the story on another level but this book was amazing!
I seriously loved this one so much and there were a couple of twists that was fantastic! Now I'm excited for the next book Liar, Liar which looks like it's on Pinocchio, but it's not coming out (according to Amazon) until next summer. *crying internally* Not cool! But hey, at least going through the entire series for a refresher was worth it because I seriously love this series, especially on audio. The narrator, Emily Eidan, does an amazing job with these and was the reason I kept going. I can't wait to read these and get these for my niece who'll be two next month so I can read them to her or have her read them when she's a little older.
For any mom's looking for good fun clean books for their kids, boy or girl, these are the perfect books for them. Especially since both would relate to Abby and Jonah and they're great laugh out loud books too. I just hope Sarah Mlynowski does more after the next one that's coming out next summer. They're fun reads and super clever.
This book took me on a magical journey through the beloved world of Neverland, and let me tell you, it was a ride I won't soon forget. 🧚♂️💫
Follow Abby and Jonah as they embark on an adventure filled with pirates, mermaids, the Lost Boys, and of course, the one and only Peter Pan. When Tinkerbell pays them a visit and whisks Jonah and his friends away to Neverland, Abby must summon all her courage and a sprinkle of fairy dust to save them.
I have to say, this book was a cute, fun, and nostalgic read. 🌟 It had all the elements of a classic bedtime story, perfect for cozying up with the little ones before lights out. The whimsical illustrations added an extra touch of magic to the already enchanting tale.
From daring escapades to heartwarming moments, "Abby in Neverland" captured my imagination and whisked me away to a world where anything is possible. Whether you're a longtime fan of Peter Pan or discovering Neverland for the first time, this book is sure to delight readers of all ages. 🌈📖
So grab your fairy dust and get ready for an adventure like no other! "Abby in Neverland" is a must-read for anyone who believes in the power of imagination and the magic of storytelling. ✨
i cannot believe i was unaware this had been released...but i bought and read it so it's all okay now yay also i feel like the series is closing, and that's sad, but i'm glad i read it
When Abby's brother and his friends get magically swept away to Neverland by Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, she has to go rescue them from being turned into Lost Boys forever.
I listened to much of this on audio and it was a quick entertaining read. Abby's nemesis Gluck is involved in this adventure and the fairy Maryrose helps Abby find the boys. Neverland is somewhat the same to the way it is in the book, but they say it adapts to the boys' wishes so there are some new things like pizza trees and flying crocs thanks to Abby's brother Jonah and his friends Isaac and Ben being there. There's a kidnapper to overcome before they can safely return home, and along the way Tink explores her role and desires. This series has been around so long now that the big fans I had are now in high school, but there are some new middle schoolers who started it in Elementary and want to continue it. There are some activities in the back of the physical book and the audiobook had a fun interview between the author and the narrator (who has done the whole series so far) about their experiences with this series and how they do what they do.
Notes on content: Language: None Sexual content: None Violence: There's a skirmish with the pirates but no one really gets hurt. Ethnic diversity: I don't remember physical descriptions of many of the kids. LGBTQ+ content: Peter Pan tries to recruit Abby to be Mother for the boys and when asked what that entails she gets upset at his gender role ideas and tells him that men can cook and clean too, and then she goes on to say how some kids have only one parent or some have 2 moms or 2 dads. That's it. Other: Tink feels trapped in Peter's metaphorical shadow and has to figure out who she is apart from him. A kidnapping/holding hostage of kids.
190 pgs. If you are already a fan of Abby and brother Jonah, you will enjoy this newest installment. This time they go to Neverland and meet Peter, Tinkerbell, and Captain Hook. They are trying to rescue Maryrose, the imprisoned fairy seen in the mirror of their basement. However, this time Jonah's friends spend the night and discover all the adventures that come through the mirror. Abby has to work around the incredible pull of the boys wanting to join the "Lost Boys" as well as the evil Captain Hook. There are lots of surprises to deal with along the way. Kids will enjoy the adventures and look forward to the next installment. Highly recommended for Grades 4-6. The only thing I did not like was the lack of appreciation by Maryrose at the end...it kind of fell flat for me, but otherwise, it was good.
Jonah had some friends over and he was being particularly annoying because even when he didn't agree with his friends, he kept doing whatever they said. Including not eating ketchup!🙀 Abby, being the oldest, tried to keep her brother safe and to help her fairy friend, but if was hard when surrounded by boys that wouldn't listen. She learned a liiiiittle bit how her mom felt when she and Jonah act up, frustrating her haha Peter Pan and Tink were the usual naughty, actually sabotaging Abby's efforts. But hey, they weren't exactly the kindest even in the original story lol So yeah, not my favorite Whatever After book, but it did have some important lessons on peer pressure and appreciation, so not bad.
I really like that whatever problem is happening in Abby’s life gets addressed in the fairy tale or story they go into. I really enjoyed that this story happened after Wendy had left Neverland. I also enjoyed the changed new lost boys brought to the story. I just wish it was a little clearer where it fit. I went to read the next whatever after book and realized the Neverland story came first. Thankfully I had both on my kindle and I could just switch which one I read first.
"some kids have two mom some kids have two dads" we were so close Sarah darling why
I was all for Abby telling Peter off for assuming that mothers exclusively must cook and clean (and I liked how all the buys were immediately like ?? dude that's not how it works dads cook and clean too that's just called being a responsible adult) but then you just had to go there. girl why there's two books left
Obviously stuff I haven't read, given that I've only read the first book in the series and here I am on special edition #3! However, you can still enjoy without having read every single book. I still maintain this is a great series for either fans of fairytale retellings or kids looking to take on chapter books to build their reading stamina.
This is book is wonderful!! I totally recommend to everyone who hasn’t read it yet. The reader can learn a lot of lessons from this story. I really wish Abby and Jonah’s adventures never stop because they’re really interesting and fun to read. Sarah never stop writing this series because Whatever After brings me and to so many other readers a lot of joy!!
Peter Pan is my favorite classic. This book was cute! I enjoyed finding all the references to the different versions of Peter Pan, such as the original book and the Disney movie, and I liked the spin on the story in this particular version.
It’s been a while since I last read this series and I found that its charm has been starting to grow thin. I do however ever like the way the stories have been given their own unique twist. I recommend this book to anyone who is beginning to read more steadily or to anyone who loves fairy tales.
Recently read this because this series is so nostalgic for me, I gotta say this has definitely changed a bit to be more modern. This specific book had a few pop culture references I thought were random and slightly out of place for a book meant for elementary school kids.
I started reading these books as a kid, and am slowly reading the new ones as they come out, just for fun. This was one my sister found at the library; it is cute, but not as good as the other ones.
This book is so super exciting and I loved reading it. It has so many cool things and twists, and I love that this series just keeps continuing to have books.
