This book for me was by far one of the best romance books hat I have read in a while. The story line for me was very original. was a page turner and kept me wanting to read more. I love the the stubbornness from the main characters. Never giving up on what they desire to find on their journey.

Desert Storm by Constance O’Banyon (1994), with a magnificent cover by Pino! Plenty of lust and desire on the cover!

🐪 Sir Michael DeWinter and Lady Mallory Stanhope meet on a ship to Egypt, 1845. His father, the duke of Ravenworth is there on a diplomatic mission and disappeared. Mallory is hoping to reunite with her parents who she barely knows.., they are Egyptologists.

🐪 Warring tribes of Bedouins thwart their plans … Michael finds he must rescue his father from treacherous captors, and Mallory’s parents aren’t in Cairo when she arrives.

🐪 Great descriptions of the unforgiving desert, and the life of the warring Egyptians and Turks. But the hero and heroine do not feature prominently in the story .., they’re separate way too often.

🐪 The author has a unique writing style: very simple sentences. The two sex scenes are also very simple.

🐪 Nevertheless, Desert Song is a good light read with an interesting setting. It’s the third book in the DeWinter’s Song series, and can easily be read as a standalone.

The book shows the luscious Pino cover with the hero at the wheel of a sailing ship lustily embracing the heroine, who’s also holding onto the wheel. This scene was NOT in the story. 😬

Reasonably good read. The story kept me interested even though is seems similar to another book I read once. She is an abandoned child left to be raised by an elderly aunt while her parents trapse around the world looking for artifacts. He is the only son of a Duke who is on a special mission in Egypt. One heart searches for love and affection while the other has built a wall around theirs. Travelling overseas on the same ship, in a confined space, meeting each other is inevitable. It's an instant love / hate relationship. In a hospitable country she is looking to find her parents while he is seeking his missing father. As best laid plans go astray, lives in up in danger.

I wish I could give half stars for reviews. This is more of a 4.5 Stars to me! The idea of a romance in Egypt intrigued me and I’m so glad I gave this one a shot! I loved all the character development and then scenery descriptions. At time I truly felt like I was on the Nile or in Caldoia or a London parlor with a Gypsy!

At times I felt like O’Banyon rushed the plot. A few time I had to go back and re-read something. However in the end, every knot was tied and I left wanting another DeWinter novel!!

Desert Song by Constance O’Banyon

I liked this story.

The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.

LOVE IN A DISTANT LAND

When Mallory Stanhope set sail for Egypt, she was drawn to a fellow passenger, the strikingly handsome Lord Michael DeWinter. Yet, while Michael was intrigued by Mallory's disarming beauty, he was preoccupied with thoughts of rescuing his father from treacherous captors.

Once in port, Mallory hoped to forget this troublesome man, but she soon found herself not only nursing his wounds, but also falling hopelessly in love with him. As danger lurked amid the sun-scorched dunes, Michael realized he had lost his heart to this red-haired angel and together they risked everything to save his father from a desert prison.
