Why did I not notice it’s a series That ending was crap. Anyway this took forever to get anywhere and never went anywhere really. They keep meeting up with each other and never doing anything. Neither one does anything they are either engaged or just dating someone else for like 10 years. Then all of sudden he’s engaged and they decide to marry each other really. Why not before.
SNOOZE FEST! Why am I having to read over a hundred pages of the mc's dating other people??? It's the same thing every other chapter. They have someone new, they break up, they have someone new, they break up OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And there is no reason for them not to be together??? They just aren't? Stupid.
Kristen'in yetiştirilme tarzından nefret ettim. Gerek yok zaten.
Kitapta sinir olduğum tek sahne, Kristen'in ayrılık sonrası kendisini dağıtması... Bradford'un seni bekleyeceğim, artık bizim zamanımız demesine rağmen Kristen'in tavırları bende gerilim dolu anlar yaşattı.
Yazarın Escape With an Alpha serisinden karakterler de vardı kitapta.
A modern day fairytale with all the feels that had a resounding heartfelt message of helping other women rise. On the surface it is an escape into the billionaire romance trope but underneath the premise is the subtle tide of acceptance, growth and striving to be a better version of yourself. I love how Bradford truly sees her. Not just the pretty package but her light inside. I swooned when he made his choice and stood fast despite the tide of negativity. I had all feels every time their paths crossed and it wasn’t their perfect moment - the slow build the will they won’t they… it’s was a sublime experience that lived up to the rest of the series.
I can’t fathom out what Nina Levine was trying to achieve with this book.
I had to check the release date - 2023 because this was like a poor version of StepFord Wives.
Pretentious A FC who was so trapped in her fear she bowled over every time.
All we got was what a ‘woman’s place in the world was. She didn’t fight for what she wanted. She rolled over and became a door mat for every male she connected with.
The timespan was ridiculous. It gave us nothing and I threw the towel in at chapter 24.
DNF - I could not get past the way this book was written. No one talked like humans, they spoke like an author had spent way too long crafting their conversations. Nothing about this book was natural and I was SORELY disappointed.
This book was dramatic. Really dramatic. Leaning to melodramatic. And in a lot of places it was drama for the sake of drama.
Some of the overly dramatic characters didn't even make sense as they would never behave that way outside of a daytime soap opera, which is what this one felt like.
There was also too much tell and not enough show. Don't make me wait 10 book years for a wedding and then not have the reader be there for it!
I'm unable to recommend this title. It had potential but it falls well short.
Nina Levine, I have never wanted to hike more in my life than I did with Bradford Black! This story was a slow burn that captivated me as it turned into a full blown fire! This man has such a mesmerizing presence and the way he so intensely & passionately paid attention to anything & everything about Kristen had me falling in love with him over and over again! The way he just wanted to be her person that encouraged, appreciated, challenged, protected and adored her made me swoon so hard. Kristen had this vulnerability about her but she was a firecracker who would not be caged or manipulated as she came out of her shell. It was awesome to see her growth and when she put some condescending pieces of —— in their place, I was screaming & cheering all at once. Bradford & Kristen completed each other in the most beautiful & poetic way once they stopped letting life, circumstance, politics & bs from control freaks get in their way! The siblings & friends is this story & series are fantastic & I loved seeing the familiar faces from some of my favorite other Nina stories. Don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with them because this is a standalone & you will just want to read their books after. Everyone should read this for the passcode, the dress, the book, Elvis, the text, the file, the jam, the car and the sex alone! I want to be the one to make Bradford Black reckless as he cherishes me forever!
I loved this book so much, Bradford is my favourite Black brother. I liked that the story is split in two parts so we get to see them build their friendship. There are many sliding door moments for Kristen and Bradford but the timing was never right for them. I adored all their little meet ups and the roof terrace times. My absolute favourite thing was just how much Bradford adored her , his love was limitless. I loved how he didn't care about her quirks and saw and understood the real her and not the persona portrayed in the tabloids. Bradford was a take charge guy but I liked seeing how love made him vulnerable. Kristen is such a contradiction, she is sweet, funny and kind but people underestimate her and she was just as possessive of Bradford as he was of her. Although I was sad about all the time they spent apart it was for the best as it enabled Kristen to realise who she is as an individual and not the girl trying to live up to her fathers expectations. Every minute of their separation was worth it for the pure romance and love that eventually found them.
Why is that when the male lead is the son of a billionaire family he is called a billionaire but when its the fl she is a “heiress” ??? Kinda random.
Also the slow burn was fantastic, the main character’s relationship was so fresh and entertaining at the beginning but by the time they got together it started to sound like every other couple ever.
Also (spoilers kinda) but i hate the cheating trope, even if it was a loveless arranged marriage and that she was also evil (mostly for plot points) and thought of her career (booo business woman bad) over others but its still cheating. Like the main characters suffered the consequences and more than enough but idk it was unnecessary. They could’ve made them have a scandal with it being about unfaithfulness (whether is business or love)
So yeah, the fist half phenomenal, the ending mid at best
🌶️: 3.5/5 (i scale more of like the level of intensity than if it was good or not, in this book the 🌶️ was good) 😆: 3/5 👤3.5
DNF. Very slow and repetitive. Always a Gala and apparently at the same location too since they always meet on the same rooftop. Her dad thinks it's 1950 and she is only good for marriage and babies but she also has no backbone. Stopped at 15% because I didn't care anymore.
if someone ever blamed me for not waiting for them while they were sleeping w other people i would laugh in their faces cause????the math is not mathing!!!the fmc is actually delusional and not in a good way
Honestly, if I knew some of the things that happened early in the book , I don't think I will ever pick it up.
However, the fact that I went into this unknowingly, and I do love the missed connections trope when it is done well, this one surprised me. I guess I was in the mood for a little angst. Because after, after the whole swapping partners drama, after they tied the knot, it was everything I ever wanted from this couple. The support and the understanding that they shared, established after years of knowing each other, it got me. It assured me that these two were made for each other, and all those years apart, will only have the same destination for them in the end.
Accidentally, Scandalously yours is a slow building standalone. Kristen and Bradford when they first met 9 yrs prior the attraction was instant. They both run in the same elite circle. For 9 yrs they occasionally see each other at galas or parties. Secretly pining each other as it’s always been the right person wrong time.
The physical special edition book is GORGEOUS. The quality of the paper and the cover design is just lovely!
But that's about as good as it gets unfortunately.
I really wanted to love this book, especially given the pretty pink cover but....
It took me about four months to finish. I was on the verge of dropping it altogether since I kept putting it down for other books.
I did finish though but unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be a favorite.
While I love a woman coming into power, I just felt like Kristen and I didn't click. I love that she's into her appearances and willing to take on fights but she just seemed very.... boring. She's a popular socialite and all her problems revolve around asking for her daddy's love and avoiding the only seemingly good man that's been in love with her for years.
Despite her attempts at trying to seem "feminist" or "supporting other women" it just seemed so false and shallow. Like her support of those things just stemmed to give her SOMETHING other than her being a rich, gorgeous girl just out partying.
I was very disappointed in that.
Then there's Bradford. Honestly his entire life is just Kristen. Watching after Kristen, pining after Kristen, yearning for Kristen and then finally having her it's just fighting/protecting Kristen.
Which he does very scarcely. He sounds perfect in theory but on paper it just didn't translate over well.
The majority of the book was just a go between of K x B throughout the years and missed connections. Once they're finally together it just seemed like a bunch of unorganized problems got thrown in just because. Some of those problems didn't even have a solid conclusion either (hello Kristen's Dad, what happened to you??).
This was just disappointing all around and I was expecting something better given what I'd seen on TikTok and other reviews.
So. This wasn’t for me. It is poorly written like I give a damn about galas and how rich people live.
Heroine’s father just wants her married and making babies while planning galas. But her sister owns her own company? Wtf
The hero keeps getting engaged.
These two know they want one another but can’t seem to keep their pants zipped long enough to wait for the other or even to tell the other if their desires.
They keep saying it’s the wrong time. Well after 35% I was done waiting. The scene of interaction were off putting. Lyle treats her like crap, Jonathan cheats, Phillip won’t leave his woman.
And I don’t like how the author wrote the heroine. Yeah, we all have issues, but this was forced and not very well written.
(3.9 Stars) Bradford Black has bumped into Kristen many times within their New York social circle. Both always seemed to be in other relationships when they did, so they struck up a kind of friendship. He is destined for a presidential career…she wants to be taken seriously and to not just be arm candy for a man. They both want more than what’s written for them to be in society but can they reach for that dream together? One Trip in Vegas might make all the difference for them both. A slow burn romance between two friends that always felt drawn to each other but the timing was wrong. This story does skip between months/years to show how long they have known each other and grown. Told in dual POV
Bradford and Kristen met at a rooftop bar after escaping a gala. Both are in lithe relationships at that time. Then, the book goes over the next 8 years, where they continue to meet periodically on the rooftop but still in various other relationships. Part 2 of the book finally picks up where the 2 come together but with a whole lot of trouble, as he is running for Senator.
Bradford is one hot alpha man. Kristen is one complicated sexy woman. They have a long history of getting to know each other. Cold not wait to see where this story was going. They make for one complicated couple. They complete each other in ways they never knew was possible. Their connection is epic. The chemistry is off the charts. Everyone needs to find their own Bradford.
I loved this story. It was a big roller coaster full of will they or won’t theys where you get to see the characters grow up from early twenties into a more mature adulthood. I always enjoy the arranged or accidental marriage trope, so that was a lot of fun. Also, it was so nice to see a FMC who did not cower and took charge of things. Very respectable spice level, too! 🥵
What happens when you try to escape the social event you at go to roof top for one moment of peace? Bradford Black is what happens the man of your dreams, however due to the both of you being in a current relationship it prevents the kiss the each of you want to desperately give. So instead you settle on exploring the city and learning as much about one another as possible. That is until morning comes and you have to return to your regular life without each other. How long do you deny the friendship of a soul mate especially While watching each other with another? Great story
This book was giving me a serious ick… I am 30 years old and no one talks like this. I see what the author was trying to do but the way the characters communicate was sooo pretentious and gave the pick me vibes “I’m not like everyone else “
That was extra sweet but waaaaaay too long 👀 Also that book description is doing a poor job of picturing what it is really about 😅
"I want all of you, Kristen. Every good part. Every beautiful part. And every dark, painful, shattered part. You won't ruin me. Not when you're the one thing I need to breathe."
Tropes: 💸 Billionaire Romance ⏳ Wrong timing 💫 Destined to be together 🙊 Miscommunication 💔 Emotional scars and search of self
☺️ The romance is real sweat and very slow burn. It happens over almost a decade and we get to see how they evolve as individual characters but also how their relationship is impacted by those changes. Their feelings are very pure in the sense that they want to really see each other, the part no other sees in them; also kind of primal since they have that strong attraction between them that only grow after each encounter they have.
🧐 I can't say I loved that book tho because I barely felt the angst with everything that was supposed to be against them, it's mostly them being in love and talking sweet-nothings to each other. And it's really cute to read but not entertaining enough for 400 pages.
😴 I got bored approximately at the 50% mark when the story should have picked up the pace since that's when they finally got married in Vegas and where they need to fight to stay together. They talk about all the problems they face but it feels so far away and not that complicated, I don't know, I didn't feel sad or stressed or anything that matters about their situation at all.
The book tries to explore important subjects like : → searching for the approval of a parent (that is a bully) → finding your true self → loving yourself → knowing how to put boundaries in a relationship.
😅 All of them felt short since they're either treated too quickly (like the relationship with her dad which is the main problem for FL but she deals with it "off-screen" 80% of the book and when she finally confronts him it falls short and doesn't have a lot of impact...) or they're not exploited through the story, they're just mentioned because she's working on them in therapy.
🔥 The spice is light and doesn't happen in the first part of the book. It's usually not long scenes and not very detailed but one or two are more explicit.
I loved their rooftop meetings and the banter that they exchanged there. I especially loved that even though they were madly attracted to one another, they never acted on it. That’s right, no cheating here. The never being available at the same time just made their story even more intriguing. And I absolutely loved it lol. Then came the time that Bradford finally took their future in his own hands and made the woman he loved for years his beloved wife. OMG let the swoon fest begin ladies lmao!! The way he protected Kristen and loved on her just melted my heart. When you talk about unconditional love, you’re talking about Bradford and Kristen. I loved watching Kristen become a strong and confident woman. I especially loved watching her stand up to her controlling and manipulative father. There was nothing I didn’t like about this book. I highly recommend it to all!! I give it two big thumbs up!!!
