Tray was a mess….this book definitely had some funny scenes….Trayvon is of the hood…he’s mad it out as a professional basketball player….Phoenix is an influencer who is also a single mom of an energetic 5 year old son….She’s also a professional MUA…trying to open her own Beauty Bar….The Humor continues when their paths cross and their worlds collide….I really enjoyed this one….

i read terms and conditions by this author and loved it so naturally i thought i’d love this book too. sadly i was wrong. this book simply wasn’t for me.

TJ is one of the most insufferable male main characters i’ve read in a long time. he was rude, hypocritical
and downright misogynistic. the way he talked to and about women was so wild and uncalled for most of the time. he was such an asshole and not even in a entertaining way. and don’t even get me started on him trying to trap her AFTER he did her dirty.

Phoenix felt very dull to me. she was just there. i hated how her friends tried to make it seem like she was overreacting when TJ dogged her. as dull has she was, she deserves so much more than TJ.

i didn’t give this book a rating because i didn’t finish it. i got 75% in but just couldn’t push through. usually when i don’t like a book i skip to the end but honestly, i don’t even wanna know what happened at the end because i just know TJ got the happy ending he did NOT deserve and i refuse to read that.

i hate that i didn’t like this book because i enjoyed the other stuff i’ve read from this author but like i said, it just wasn’t for me.

**unpopular opinion**

Maybe my expectations were too high. I’ve seen this book promoted a lot on IG. So when I saw it linked to some reads I absolutely loved- I assumed I would feel the same about this one.

I don’t know where to begin. Overall I disliked EVERYTHING in this book. The only reason I continued is because I hated to DNF and it was pretty short. Which btw is the only good thing here.

I hated the characters, the pacing was inconsistent. I couldn’t figure out the timeline, was this insta-love or had a few months passed?! It was confusing. The grammar errors were too significant, because at times I didn’t know what the author meant.

There was literally no growth in Trayvon, he was a jackass in the beginning and he was a jackass at the end. If anything Phoenix changed herself more so to fit his ridiculous. Nothing romantic about their story, he was the epitome of a f- boy. Everything from his language, actions, apology, and proposal. Tell me when did he change and grow. When did he make better decisions regarding her? All I read was gift giving and blaming the women- and trashing them so disrespectfully- like he wasn’t the common denominator in all of this.

Sorry- this story was just awful to me. It’s not the type of romance I enjoy. If the guy starts out that way, I want to see him evolve and learn better, then do better. And I prefer strong female characters, Phoenix talked a good game. And she had smoke for Marquis, but folded every time with Tray. He never was really held accountable.

It’s giving toxicity without any healing. And it’s a no for me. 🤷🏾‍♀️

If I didn’t see the authors pic, I wouldn’t have believe this story was written by a woman. This book is one of the most disrespectful misogynistic books I’ve read in a while. It’s actually shameful. These is nothing more I hate than a “Not like the other girls or “I hate everyone but you book” this man was rude AF to everyone in this book expect for his family and Phoenix. Is this supposed to be appealing or even romantic? Like come on, there are ways to write a book without being overly disrespectful towards the same women the hero is sleeping with. And to have them running behind him after the disrespect, IKYFL. This book is cringy. From the dialogue, the storyline down to the sex, it’s mad cringe. I continued to read because I thought it would get better. It did not. There really is a grown man try to manipulate a woman after he messed up. How is this okay? Aside from the cringe dialogue, there were grammatical errors and misspelled worlds. A lot of them. And there is a basketball on the cover but we didn’t get any sports. Overall, I tried to ride with the author with hopes that things would get better but it didn’t. The MMC is a rude, manipulative, egotistical asshole who didn’t deserve the heroine or anything good because I don’t like him. I would suggest next time to tone down the misogyny in your romance books. It’s not a good look at all.

I love T’Lyn but this didn’t do it for me! I hated Tray! I hated his character and I hated how hard he kept acting and then Phoenix talked that hood shit like she wouldn’t bend for him but she did every turn! She was weak for him and it showed throughout the book which I hated right along with the grammatical errors! The man was getting “head” and she went right home and gave him some smh! Tray and Phoenix just did too much for me!

Absolutely not!! After enjoying 2 of this author's books back to back, I was optimistic for this book but all it did is piss me off.

The way Trayvon spoke to women was really disrespectful, even when there was no reason to be. Phoenix really held him down and his immature, drunk and high ass really pulled that stunt at the club because he was in his feelings.

Throw the entire man away. Trayvon is the epitome of success doesn't translate into emotional growth. As much money he has and as successful he is in basketball, he desperately needs to go to therapy and deal with his momma issues.

Double or Nothing

Ok so I can see why a lot of readers didn’t like our boy Trayvon cause lord his mouth’s was wreckless. But honestly I’ve read worse. I felt how he cared for his family through the pages. He did talk down to women cause he used the “B” word like it was just part of his vocabulary and that it was normal no sir it is not! But if you allow a man to talk you or treat you with no respect he will do just that. Now Phoenix was not having it. She corrected him and when he did the dumb thing he did she bounced and boy was down bad.

The relationship Tray had with Phoenix son Chandler I loved and I loved how he stepped up to the plate for his baby sister when his mom was still doing her which was being selfish! I know my boy was bit much in the beginning but I have him a bit of grace and he turned out ok🫣❤️

That damn Trayvon is a mess! He always thought he was just going do what he wants without repercussions until he lays eyes on Pheonix Rose. She a baddie all on her on and doesn’t need no more spotlight and she’s the one thing that Trayvon can’t have and doesn’t deserve. But I love them together and I could see a smiggen of change in Tray. I loved how he loved on the kids that was perfection

This book needs to be edited really bad. I had a hard time reading it, and this is a re-release so I'm not sure why it wasnt sent to the editor again before releasing it for the second time.

Weak characters, weak vocab, weak relationship

This wasn’t a romance it was horror erotica. Now I don’t mind a quick little read and/or hood romances because I’ve read plenty of short reads that still were able to develop well balanced characters and plot but this was absolutely not it. If the lack of editing around misspelled/misused/overused words (please let “simpered” GO) weren’t enough, the characters and relationship had zero depth or growth, just sex and drama. The only thing that was clear and believable was that Trayvon and Phoenix were attracted to each other. That’s it. The only thing they had in their relationship was sex. The inconsistencies, like Trayvon “introducing” Phoenix and Chandler to his grandmother when she’s the whole reason they met again because they knew her from church, took me out the story way too many times. Then by the time Trayvon literally cheated on her, I was skimming through to confirm my suspicious that she would be a weak a$s FMC by not standing ten toes down on her standards. And I was right. He was completely irredeemable, selfish, hypocritical, immature and disrespectful. And she was dumb for not only getting her 5 year old child attached to a man she’d known for about two weeks, but continuing to let him be around, parent her kid, and have her family around him even after her alleged “break up”. Like who breaks up with someone for cheating and publicly embarrassing them and then voluntarily celebrates with him, parents his young sibling and let them parent your kid, take vacations from him and still let him run you, who you speak to and what you wear? All that talk about what she wouldn’t accept from him and then going out of her way to be around him. The synopsis described her as stubborn and reviews praised her for being no-nonsense and yet she was anything but that. I’ve read better by T’Lyn but this was not it.

Absolutely Not!!!!

I did not finish this garbage! I’ve never read such a trashy book! I can spit cuss words out with the best of them but the way he dogged out women and even his own gf had me maxed out! Cussin all in church and in front of his Grandmother! Then he let Zuri suck him off in the club and Phoenix literally sleeps with him after! I literally read about 50 pages and then skipped to the cheating part because I wanted to see who he cheated with and then couldn’t do it any long. The editing in this book was horrible and it seemed like I was reading a paper my dog wrote and I don’t even have one!

Hmmm

I’m really not sure how this book made it past edits as the grammatical errors took away from story.(Not expecting perfection but 5% in and there’s multiple glaring mistakes)There was a lot of rereading sentences to figure out exactly what the author meant to say. The actual story itself showed potential but there wasn’t any character growth, the bullying from the male lc was out of this world and it just doesn’t feel like this was treated with care.

Yuck

he cheated ….after he met her son…yuck. it totally drove me away from his character because he had already claimed he was all about her and to meet her son and get close to him AND THEN cheat is outrageous, and the fmc talked about how she was moving on to better and wouldn’t except what her ex was doing but then …accepted it from the mc, also her bestfriends lame , who encourages their bestfriend to go back to someone who cheated on them.

Well...

Let's start with I'm really did not care for Tray . Controlling and crazy in the worst way. He was giving me Im grew up in the hood but I'm not hood ,so I'm going to over compensate on hood activities. Big NO for me . Loved Phoenix though ,she was boss lady . She stepped up to help Tray even when she was not feeling him .

stereotypical

It’s very disappointing when the blurb/Analogy has a very new description of the book. Only for it to be very ghetto and just full of stereotypes.
The names are ghetto, the mindset is ghetto the language is ghetto. Tray’s mouth is absolutely disgusting. What kind of man calls his her a B to her face and Phoenix’s dumb self keeps allowing it.

Why is it all the black love stories are always toxic and hood related. Is that how black peoples see each other because that is shameful. Even the cheating was inevitable. She knew the type of man he was because she saw how he treated them. Why would you think you would be any different all because he claims you. Girl you were nothing but a trophy wife at that point. Even her friends telling her to take him back because he “Loves her.” I get it’s a book and fake characters but this is practically every black romance book which is irritating.

Also please proof read your books it was really ruining the flow even tho I just wanted to be done with the book. I hope these stereotypes are just for this book and not just your work.

First things first, I absolutely hated Trayvon. This dude was hella misogynistic and didn’t grow/mature throughout the story. Like at all. BUT…I lived for the messiness and when I wasn’t saying “wtf?” to him, he had me laughing.

I liked Phoenix and that she was so sure of herself and had a life outside of Trayvon. I would’ve liked to have seen Trayvon prove himself more to Phoenix and grow from his “mistake” and for Phoenix to actually heal.

I think going from a trash ass baby daddy to an unapologetic, crazy basketball player who did the same thing should’ve been more traumatic for her but Phoenix kept it pushing. She didn’t cave easily to Trayvon after his “mistake” (which I liked) but like I said, he’s crazy. He wasn’t taking no for an answer. He also had a hell of a temper.

Trayvon is was one of those situations or characters that are fine to read about in a fictional setting but anything otherwise is major red flags. If there’s a follow up book, I hope this dude ends up going to therapy bruh lol.

DNF!!! i only got 64 % done with this book but Tj cheating did it for me. the fact that im nowhere near the end tells me that he got that happily ever after he didn’t deserve and that Phoenix basically went back on her word about putting up with his crap.

The whole book Tj was insufferable and extremely misogynistic which had me wanting to put the book down anyways but i really like T’lyn’s books so i was trying to power through but this is just insane. I understand that a lot of authors really want us to feel like we’re reading a man’s pov but i honestly feel like it was over done in this book.

I honestly wanted to like phoenix but her character was a bit eh to me ngl. She’s supposed to be portrayed as this strong woman but she gave into tj really quickly and honestly there wasn’t much to her character i mean we got to experience way more of TJ’s life than anything.

The lack of even basic editing was annoying. The mistakes were so bad that I had to read sentences a couple of times to get the meaning. A few times isn't a problem for me, but starting from the very first page with the wrong/missing/misplaced words and incorrect word usage made it feel like someone accidentally uploaded the rough draft. Bummer.

Overall, the story was okay. Tray's rudeness was overboard and not sexy. Phoenix's character was cool, but as with other parts, it lacked depth. The seggz scenes were good and plentiful. 🔥🥵🌶️ Love how they both stepped up to form their own unconventional family. That was solid.

Not a bad read, but I've read others by this author that were better. I'll continue to support.

Three Star Read

This was a decent book but my biggest gripe and the reason I lowered my rating was because of all the grammatical errors. And there were a lot of them, honestly you would think this book had not even been proofread. There were missing words and misspelled words. Please get an editor.

Anyway as far as the story I enjoyed it even though Trayvon had to grow on me. Yes he was very blunt which I don’t mind but some of the things he said were ridiculous.
Also Phoenix gave in too easily with becoming his girlfriend in the beginning. She went home with him without a fight. And became his girlfriend right away…..all this even after seeing how he truly handles the women in her life.

So yea decent story………….just needs an editor.

T’Lyn!! Girl!! TJ was something serious but he met his match when he came across Phoenix! My girl didn’t care that he was sexy and had plenty of money. She said he was going to respect her and baby that’s what he did!!! Baby girl played no games and I’m here for it.
His mama was the deadbeat of the Century… not gonna talk to much about her cause she gets no attention over here.
All and all I loved it!!! Y’all go head and read this. You won’t be disappointed!
👀👀 you should do a story about Corey “Love in the Club” 😇😏

Mr. Reemable!!

Trayvon's granny has been his biggest cheerleader since the beginning. Phoenix from the start ain't give him no play because she knew what he was about. He was use to getting his way with girls. Phoenix made him change his way of thinking. Phoenix fixed his a**, she left him alone. When he got getting suck on. He was sick. Marquis was jealous of her success. He didn't want Chandler if he couldn't have her. Tray mammy is a trip. She's a real one because she didn't go back on her word to help raise his sister. He proposed on national to say he's off the market. He got his family.

Trayvon was a lot. I was not a fan of his. I understand what caused his reckless regard towards females, especially those using their bodies for attention....but he is OBNOXIOUS. That wasn't attractive to me. But I was interested to see how this was going to flow. Phoenix was cool, I didn't like the that she was clinging to the idea of co parenting with Marquise. The progression of them was entertaining. They made a good team together. The scenes were hot and kept the pages turning.

This book is in need of editing which is why I rated it so low.

Loved Tray

When I started reading this I wasn’t sure how this was gonna go but this book kept my attention the entire time. I started last night and didn’t wanna put it down to sleep but did eventually. And while at work I kept opening my Kindle to continue reading but eventually had to get to work. So I finally finished when I got home before starting to prepare dinner. I loved Tray with his ignorant @$$. I did not think he’d have such a brash personality and Phoenix was his perfect match cause she didn’t take his crap. I’m definitely happy I picked up this gem my only regret was that it wasn’t longer I read too fast and got to the end too soon

Short and Straight Up Love!!!

I absolutely loved this book, I got this during one of the many stuff your kindle events and it got lost in my library and made its way to my attention just when I was looking for a sports urban romance to read.

Phoenix and Tray’s story was outstanding and T’Lyn did an excellent job telling their story. Of course there was some drama but in the end it made their connection even stronger. They were definitely made for each other and he changed everything about himself to prove it to her.

So if you are looking for a short sports romance book, I definitely recommend reading this book!
