Not all villains deserve redemption.

When Everleigh Bennet’s brother disappears without a trace in the wilderness of Guyana, she sets off on a trip to bring him back home. But instead of finding answers, she gets caught up with the local cartel.

Out of options and time, she finds solace in the most unlikely of places.

Lucius Costa never thought he’d be capable of betraying his team. But to save his daughter, he became the very thing he’d always despised: a traitor. Cast out, he takes on an impossible mission that leads him back onto a dark path he thought he’d never walk again.

But when shy Everleigh bursts into his life, he knows in order to save her, he’ll risk it all. Even if it means missing his one chance at redemption.

This is the second book in the Locked Security series and a single dad, forced proximity romantic suspense.

Note from the author: In order not to get kicked out of the good (okay goodish.... fine, sometimes good) girls club, I’d like to point out that this is a steamy romance, and my characters use bad language (sometimes) and like to get it on. There’s no cheating and all my books have a HEA.

I love the written word in all forms and shapes and if I'm not glued to a book I'm attempting to write one.

I’m a frequent blonde moment sufferer and still trying to figure out how to adult. I live in Melbourne, Australia, with my two little humans, the holder of my heart and two furry demons. I love to hear from readers so feel free to get in touch.

Voices were drifting in and out. Beeping noises that wouldn't stop. A pinprick and then all went quiet. Six weeks ago her brother Archer disappeared and she hadn't gotten any closer to finding out what happened since she arrived in Guyana. It had been his first stop on the trip of a lifetime and her college graduation gift to him. Now she is overwhelmed with guilt that she bought the ticket to where he had gone missing.

Everleigh was exhausted from hiking in the jungle and after taking a shower went to the hotel restaurant and wondered why a town that was usually bustling with activity was suddenly deserted. And when a man with a gun tucked in his waistband sat at her table telling her she was sticking her nose in things that didn't concern her a chill traveled down her spine.

It didn't help when he gripped her by the arm and marched her up the street to the Town Hall full of men with machine guns. The man that approached her should be on the cover of a magazine not surrounded by an army and she was even more shocked when he spoke ... he was American. The next thing she knows she is being dragged to a line of SUVs being kidnapped.

Lucius had a mission and the nosy woman Santinto brought to him was a complication he didn’t need. Once his boss heard about an American asking questions he had no choice but to bring her to him. Looking at her he knew she wouldn't last very long. She was too innocent and had no business being there.

Julius deserved the hell he was living though and although he had ordered executions, cheated and betrayed, he hadn't crossed the line at killing an innocent yet and had no plans to start now. He almost had the information he needed to return home and didn't need to screw up now caring what happened to this woman.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. There are a few very nasty evil characters that I would hope to never come across in life. Although this book can be read as a standalone novel I highly recommend that you start at the beginning of this series as the characters are recurring and there are elements to Everleigh & Julius's story that weave through this series that will give you more context.

In Freya's story, she was on the run from the Irish mob, but Everleigh finds herself in a much more dangerous situation. I loved Everleigh. She was the perfect combination of courage and wimp. Charging into the unknown to find her brother, but then freezes when her person is threatened and has a panic attack hoping it will be over soon. And Julius is just full of surprises that I can't mention without spoilers.

This book is action-packed, full of danger and suspense, packed with surprises and smoking-hot chemistry. Highly recommend!

Wow. I seriously couldn't put this one down and Everleigh and Lucius have melted me and made me fall in love along with them.

Everleigh goes to Guyana to search for her brother, Archer who had gone missing out of the blue while he was on a trip visiting there.

As she begins her journey of finding her brother, doing everything that she can in spite of being in a foreign place, little did she know that she would unknowingly be captured by a cartel and now she had to find a way for having her own freedom back.

Lucius had me intrigued right from the start. I could feel that he was conflicted working for Maurizio and his cartel but I got that he had a secret mission too behind it all.

Lucius though is immediately ensnared by their new captive who turns out to be a fantastic accountant and now buys more days for her life by help keeping their books.

As time goes on, Lucius soon realises that his feelings for Everleigh are not going away and he has to somehow find a way to get Everleigh out of there while also maintaining his secrecy and completing his mission.

I was the one, totally captured in this delectable tale of two people meeting in unusual circumstances and even in the face of danger finding a light in each other inspite of all odds.

I was also so scared for Santino, Lucius's friend who was also looked out for Everleigh and hoped against hope that somehow he too would make it out.

There are also many other facets going on especially with what is Lucius actually hiding and his little preciosa that he has left with his Locked Security team.

The story kept me on the edge of my seat as unexpected twists kept coming out and also for the fact that I wanted Everleigh and Lucius to find their happy together and circumstances were so deadly and terrifying that I had no idea how they would do that.

Oh my... Little Sofie was absolutely adorable and had me completely melting with her cuteness and also her many interactions and funny banter with Carter and others from the Locked Security team and also with Everleigh and Lucius. She made me have a permanent smile on my face.

Mariana, their cook was so sweet and I definitely wanted to go inside the book to taste all the yummy food she prepared.

An Action-packed ride in the Wildness of Guyana with loads of Suspense and Heart-melting chemistry, Ahhh... I certainly needed more of Everleigh and Lucius. Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Really Liked it but…
In Deception, Senna Kincaid (or Sarah Peis in Goodreads), we meet Everleigh and Lucius. She is an accountant looking for her missing brother, alone in Guyana and he’s there with his own family problems to solve. Talk about a mismatch of a storyline, however the author made it work.

We start the book with Everleigh in the hospital and then travel two weeks earlier to find out how she ended up there. Kudos to her for traveling all the way to Guyana from San Diego by herself to search for her brother, Archer. Then again, I’m not sure she was well thought out. It was her and a local tour guide looking in the jungle for her brother and as fast as that, she was snatched up by the local cartel.

Lucius is involved with the local cartel and talk about a convoluted story. His plate is full and the last thing he needs is to try and protect the beautiful girl taken captive. I liked Lucius, he was a good guy gone bad, but trying to be good again, if that makes any sense. Everything he’s done up to now is for his daughter and in the end, he hopes his friends and family understand. Everleigh is an unwanted distraction, however one he’s developed feelings for in a record amount of time.

That was the problem I had with this storyline. As I’m not a fan of insta-love, the relationship between Everleigh and Lucius made zero sense to me. For him to constantly put himself at risk for somebody he met days earlier made no sense to me. That said, I still liked all the goings on around them, as in what is up with that brother of hers?? Now there is another part of the story, where either I’m missing something, or it needed to be fleshed out a bit better.

The book is well written and not overly steamy, which was fine for me because there was so much other stuff going on to keep track of. While it can be read as a stand alone with an epilogue to wrap things up, I feel like I would have enjoyed it more reading the first book to understand Lucius’s relationship with his past. Next book up is Everleigh’s best friend Thea and it seems like she’s got all kinds of stuff going on as well.

The Author has given us a very riveting storyline with Deception. Two people, Everleigh and Lucius, are two people who meet at the worst of times in the jungle of Guyana. Everleigh’s brother has gone missing so she has traveled to the last place he was seen, much to the displeasure of the head of the area’s Cartel. Lucius and Santino are sent to grab the girl. Come to find out Everleigh has a thing for numbers and offers to help with their accounting by finding the Cartel’s missing money in hope it will give her time to find a way out of their clutches. Her only ally seems to be Lucius. He has taken her under his protection. But Lucious and Santino, his best friend, can do so much as they too are at the mercy of the head of the cartel. Once the story gets going the plot thickens and more mysteries come into play, including many of the characters with Locked Security that we met in book 1 of the series. The storyline is full of suspense, intrigue, betrayal, revenge, lies, romance and so much more. This reader highly recommends grabbing it up asap and if you haven’t read Book 1 I suggest reading it first, it will make for a much better reading experience.

Deception was originally published under the pen name of Sarah Peis. This is book two in the Locked Security Series but it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone and I know this because I haven’t read the first book yet. If you love romantic suspense look no further than Everleigh Bennet and Lucius Costa’s journey that takes you to the wilds of Guyana. While Everleigh is searching for her brother she finds herself taken prisoner by a South American Cartel where she is forced to put her accounting skills to use. Lucius is the number two in charge who is plotting to take the number one man down and also rescuing Everleigh but while putting his plan into place he realises he wants more and that means saying goodbye before he puts her life in danger. So will Lucius and Everleigh find a way to be together….one click to find out. This story is raw and gritty, it will keep you on the edge of your seat, it’s about power and control, it’s about friendships and loyalty but more importantly it’s about love. It’s a steamy and captivating journey that’s full of twists and turns you don’t see coming and I’m excited for what’s to come in the Locked Security Series.

This is the second book in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. But it is connected to the first one. Everleigh’s brother has gone missing. She goes to Guyana to find him. While not the brightest idea she does it anyway. Then she finds herself being taken and forced to be the book keeper for a cartel boss. Lucius finds himself somewhere he never thought he would be again. Working for his father. He is going to protect Everleigh as much as he can. He is there for a different reason though. To find the man that killed one of his team. Everleigh and Lucius have a connection. He fights it because right now she is his captive. He doesn’t want to take advantage of her in that way. But what happens after he rescues her? Everleigh wants to be with Lucius. She is going to do what she can to help him. This book was fantastic. I loved it. The men of Locked Security are in the book as well. Lucius feels he needs to make things up to the men of Locked. He did what he thought he needed to do. He feels bad but at the same time he wouldn’t have met Everleigh if he didn’t do what he did. I am loving this series. I can’t wait for the next book. Great job Sarah.

(Faux) Enemies to Lovers

A intricate story that mixes adventure, romance, betrayal, and forgiveness and keeps you on your toes.
Lucius gave up everything to protect his daughter and hopes to right his past wrongs. You can tell that the facade he’s forced to wear is slowly destroying him inside. When Everleigh accidentally stumbles into danger, his immediate infatuation pushed him to finally take action to save them both. Returning home has its own troubles…especially when he has to face those he left behind.
I love the characters, especially the FMC who is positive, even when faced with adversity. It’s easy to see why she is the one that inspires the MMC to finally do what he came to do. This story is great on its own, but also sets up several other possible stories in the future. Writing and editing were both wonderful and made for an enjoyable read.

4 Star Review Deception (Locked Security #2) by Senna Kincaid

Senna Kincaid is a new author to me and although this was my first book, it will not be my last. As soon as time permits, I will be checking out the first book in this series as well. I was invested in the story that the author wove from the first chapter.

Deception was an entertaining, well written, romantic suspense story that ticked numerous boxes for me. It was fast paced with characters whose story you cannot help but be drawn into. This is Everleigh Bennet and Lucius Costa’s story.

When Everleigh decides to go searching for her brother who is missing in Guyana, she has no idea of the danger that she is about to be put in. I don’t want to spoil this read so my review is vague. I will say that Deception is a story of danger, suspense and twists and turns.

Thank you Senna and Wildfire Marketing for an ARC

One thing I love about this series so far is how fast-paced it is. Like it drops you in the deep end of a wave pool and it’s your job to sink or swim

Everleigh is looking for her brother. But with all her snooping she gets unwanted attention for the local cartel. Thats where she meets Lucius. They shouldn’t be attracted to each other. But the more time he caters to her, the more they start to see they’re not who they are in the confines of that house

I’m so ready for the next 2 books because these books keep the mind alive

🪢 I’d avoided her as much as possible since she arrived here. But I found it harder and harder to stay away, as if an invisible string connected me to her.🪢

Gripping storyline with a few twists along the way to a HEA.

This is the second book in the Locked Security Series and it follows Lucius/Blake and Everleigh. I really love this new series because Sarah is bringing a more suspenseful and edgier storylines but still keeps her characters relatable at the same time.

This book finally gives you answers on why Blake/Lucius broke his trusted bond with his team/brothers of Locked Security. You find out that he isn't who everyone thought he was and his past is more dangerous than anyone knew. To get his answers on who took out Sam he goes back to the one place he tried to escape. Once back in the very cartel he once fled from brings him a gift he never knew he would want or get. Once capturing Everleigh he becomes obsessed with her and only wants to protect her at all costs.

Everleigh was a mild mannered accountant that gets pulled into a dangerous world when she sets out to find her missing brother Archer, who is in serious trouble and has gone missing without a trace. Once she's captured by Lucius she fears for her life but not by his hands only the others that surround him in the cartel. She fights her attraction to him but one night they both give in and they become more than either would have imagined.

This book takes you through a slow build up of suspense and then gives you a love story and a redemption mixed into it and it will have you glued till the very end. So if you like a mystery and a love story between two unlikely people this is a great book to read. I had the pleasure of reading this one early and it was a gripping and intense at times story. I'm excited to see where the next book will go now. Make sure you read these books in order because they are interconnected and pick-up where the last one ends.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Wow! I literally could not put this book down. I enjoyed the first book of this series, Stealth, and this one did not disappoint either. I would highly suggest that you read Stealth first so you will fully understand the character dynamics. In this story Everleigh ends up in Guyana looking for her brother Archer. He has disappeared, and she cannot get in touch with him at all. She gets a little more than she bargained for when she lands in the hands of some very bad people. The only thing that keeps her safe is a mysterious protector known as Lucius. Everleigh has a "thing" for numbers and is a brilliant accountant which is the only thing keeping her alive momentarily except for Lucius. He is a papa bear protector and will protect her at all costs. The first half of the book takes place in Guyana, but then the story moves back into the States with Locked Security where you will learn more about Lucius. I loved the characters in the first book, Stealth. One of my favorite characters in this book is Santino. Santino has pledged his loyalty to Lucius, but underneath that rough exterior you can see a man who is a true protector and does care for the human race. Once the second half of the book begins, the action kicks up a notch right up until the satisfying conclusion which will leave you breathless and wanting more! The plot was well assembled and easy to follow. I was completely drawn into the story to the point that I really did not pay attention to anything around me until I completed this book. This is another winner for Sarah Peis.

My head is spinning.
What another gripping read from this author.
Just like the previous book I couldn't get enough and don't think I barely blinked from cover to cover.
After the epic ending in Stealth I've been eagerly awaiting to dive into this book and it did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded expectations.
Hence it was easily added to my top reads list of '22.
From start to finish you'll be kept on your toes, continually trying to figure out what's going on and what will happen next.
Is there a happily ever after for this ill timed couple?
Or will their lives get ripped apart yet again?
Highly recommend that you one click immediately, and also that you read Stealth first.
Neither are to be missed.

Deception has a good plot, relatable and strong characters, and is a well-written story that can be divided into two parts: Guyana and USA. Everleigh goes after her brother, Archer, who has disappeared and gets kidnapped. She is a genius with numbers and an accountant and is put to work on the accounting of the cartel. The guys who kidnapped her Lucius and Santino, are in fact her protectors (she later realizes) and avoid her being killed. They return together to the US and another hunt starts to find Archer and find the man who killed Lucius' friend when he worked with Locked Security. This is a story full of action, romance, and surprises. Good entertainment.
As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Action and suspense crop up right from the beginning. Everleigh searching for her missing brother was an interesting connection to setting. Who knew that searching and asking questions would lead to other difficulties. Lucius is quite mysterious at the beginning. As the story unfolded, I really liked being able to piece together details from this novel with the previous one. I found it satisfying to see several details revealed with a very family focused HEA. Looking forward to Archer’s story!

I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.

Sarah Peis' 'Deception' was a thrilling read. Its fast-paced page-turning plot was filled with intrigue, suspense, a little bit of action, and romance. I loved the way the author told her tale with wit, vivid descriptions, and interesting dialogue. However, the ending which revealed what happened to Everleigh's brother was neatly tied up suddenly and felt a bit rushed. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the narrative.
I received an advanced copy for free. I am voluntarily giving my honest review.

This series is so good, and this is another great addition! No spoilers though. I lost count of the number of times I was sure the main characters would be killed or seriously maimed! It's got lots of suspense, some steam & humor, continually fearing for the main characters and a lot of answers to questions after the last book. This is a well-written story that has me craving the next in series!
