When Orchid moved in next door, I could tell she was running from something or someone. I vowed then and there to keep her safe from everyone, even me. I’m not a good man with a knight in shining armor sort of reputation. Anything but, in fact. For Orchid, though, I want her to see the side of me I hide beneath my big beard and rough exterior.

When her past comes calling, I steal her away to my mountain hideout. And when the cult that raised her tries to take her from me, I’ll burn down everyone who ever hurt her. Like I said, I’m not a good man. But for Orchid, I’ll be an avenging angel.

MINK's Curl up with a kitty and a frap for this sweet and spicy tale of happily ever after.

It’s Mink so of course I immediately read it as soon as it came out. And it didn’t disappoint. A sheltered heroine who has escaped from a fundamentalist cult commune finds safety in her gruff mountain man neighbor. And in typical mink fashion there’s a feline fur baby, a hero who burns the world down for his woman and enough steam to melt my kindle while their emotional connection melted my heart.

Safe. Hero’s isn’t mentioned but it’s pretty obvious he’s been celibate for a very long time. Heroine is a virgin and gives the hero the gift of claiming all her firsts. She was engaged against her will to a man in the cult but there’s never any intimacy between them. No others, no cheating, no abuse between MCs. Possible trigger: heroine was physically abused by her father. HEA with epilogue and baby.

I was in the mood for a sort of pallet cleanser, so this was just some messy fun- it was straightforward with a sweet ending. I did get a bit bored halfway through this one, but overall is really cute.

Swooning here! Mink brings the romance with a dash of danger, secret love and a virgin heroine combined.

You know going in it’s going to be over the top but that’s what I want. I want the alpha male who’ll do anything to protect his woman.

Fast paced, with great and engaging characters. Witty banter and awesome secondary characters.

The couple: Sully and Orchid

Romance trope: neighbors
Length: 140 pages

Plot: Orchid is the sweet neighbor next door and Sully is the gruff mountain man with a secret criminal past. His past comes in handy when Orchid's father and presumptive fiance make their way to her new house after she fled their cult; they think they're taking her back, but Sully has something to say about that.

Commentary: I enjoyed this one - as always, sticky sweet with a hint of naughty (and a cat, always a cat). They were both cute how they didn't realize the other was near-obsessed with them, and I hope that the brother gets his own story also.

Just because you grew up in that life doesn’t mean that’s you, all right? You’re your own thing, bright and warm and beautiful. Don’t doubt that.”

Her hero!!!
Thank goodness for Sully! At every turn he’s there to help and protect her from anything - from tomato plants to her father and the man she was promised to.
He doesn’t feel he or anyone else is good enough for her, but he’s going to keep her all for himself. I love a good over the top alpha male!

Petal and Sully

Petal has some demons she’s hiding from. Sully has a past that’s not so rosey. The banter is cute. I’m really intrigued by Reeve! Lots of OTT moments. HEA.

HERO /HEROINE
Sully is trying something new and living by himself in a small little cottage. He spends his days keeping his garden and creating vases and yard sculptures. It’s clear he has a dark past that he is trying to distance himself from.
Orchid is clearly on the run. She grew up living in a fundamentalist cult where her father is “The Prophet” Now that she's old enough she’s been given away to another man who is just like her father. Now on the run and living her life for the first time, she thinks she is safer than ever. Except danger isn’t far behind.

REPRESENTATION

OVERALL THOUGHTS I loved this one. Running away girls from cults trying to live their lives for the very first time is such a mood to read about. I love any story along the lines of that. Girl escapes abuse, girl finds herself for the first time, girl falls in love with a protective and understanding man. That’s what Sully is too. He respects her and he immediately recognizes that she’s a girl on the run and that she's on her own for the very first time. He protects her from the sidelines all while letting her breath and find her own wings.
There’s nothing I wouldn’t give her to make her happy. Hell, I’ve even considered sneaking into her yard at night and fertilizing her tomatoes, but I don’t want to take her garden away from her. She really enjoys working on it, and even though it’s not in the best shape, it’s all hers. Something she can be proud of, and I’m plenty proud of her even if her cucumbers all wilted, her squash never flowered, and her carrots got carried away by rabbits.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

FAVORITE QUOTES:
“Of course you have! You’re always so generous. Even that first night when I spilled your food all over you–”
“You did? I don’t remember that at all.”
“You don’t remember–Oh.” She laughs. “You’re messing with me.”
“The only thing I remember from you is wonderful service every time I set foot in here. That’s all.”

SAFETY

AGE: Orchid is 18 I think and Sully in his late 20s or early 30s

SEXUAL HISTORY: Sully is not a virgin but it’s been awhile for him. Orchid is a virgin.

CONDOMS: Nope

TUMMY BUTTERFLIES: 3/5 Sully and Orchid are so sweet together. I love Orchid taking control and Sully just sitting back and letting her do her thing.
“It’s hard and soft. Just like you.”
“I’ve been called a dick a few times in my life.”

PUSH/PULL: Nope

SEPARATION: Nope

CHEATING: Nope

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Orchid is engaged to another man but she was forced by her father.

SEX SCENE WITH OW/OM: No

ABUSE: physical, emotional parental abuse and neglect. Religious abuse. Alludes to sexual abuse to minors within the cult.

POSSIBLE PET PEEVES/TRIGGERS

HEA/HFN: HEA

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Orchid with help from her mom has escaped her father who runs a cult and calls himself the Prophet. She’s made her home in a small town and works at the local diner. Her neighbor is Sully, he’s from a mafia like family but has left that world behind once he and his brother got revenge on the people who killed his mother. Sully loves Orchid but knows he’s not good enough for her but when the father and his second, Jeremiah come to get her Sully protects her. Jeremiah wants to marry her and is not going to stop until he gets her. Sully and his brother, Reeve go attack to compound and save the women and children, her father and Jeremiah bring her mother as a hostage to Sully’s safe house to draw Orchid out. A fire fight ensues and both men are killed, her mother is saved, but Sully gets shot. Reeve contacts their father who helps save him. Epilogue with them having a little girl and Sully’s father having given up his illegal activities joins the family.
I liked all the characters, Orchid was sheltered but she was strong and did the right thing by saving all the other women and children in the cult. Sully was the perfect dark, growly, alpha. Hope we get a book for his brother Reeve.

I really liked this story although it deals with some difficult subject matter. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a few exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Roxie was lame but was nothing compared to Orchid's father and Jeremiah. They definitely deserved some comeuppance and I liked the consequences they faced. I would have liked for them to suffer a bit more but I think that I'm vindictive or something. Sully and Reeve hinted at an intriguing background that I would have liked more information about. Orchid met Sully when she started working at the diner. Sully was Orchid's neighbor and had decided to look out for her since he felt that she was too good for him. When her past caught up with her, Sully was there to make sure that nothing happened to her. I liked that he was so protective and possessive of her. While there was quite a bit of serious stuff going on, there were also some funny things that happened. Reeve was wonderful and I would love for him to get his own story. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Mine to Claim is the story of Sully and Orchid.

She's from his cult/religion and she runs away to escape her manic father and crazy supposed fiance. He has a bad past and she has skeletons in his closet that are still alive and so Sully is obsessed with her so he helps her get rid of her father and her supposed fiance which she didn't agree to. On that road, they fall in love and the tension gets unbearable and uncontrollable and he gives in. He has a rocky relationship with his father due to his mother's death being partly his fault due to his problems or whatever. His brother Reeve is a hottie and I want him to get with her mother, and I think that happens due to the hospital scene and the epilogue but who knows? After he finds out about her scars he goes into full domination mode and goes to her father's place, and he's not there and turns out he's at Sully's place with her mom and Orchid at gunpoint. Sully kills Jeremiah and her father but she also gets a shot as well and it's hot. HEA and kids.

Solid 3.5/5

Adorable and with a heart of twisted danger.

Orchid and Sully are a match made in heaven and hell. One thing I love about this couple is that they are so sweet together, though they harbour a naughty streak that shines through some hot times. The plot itself is full of fun and varied scenes.

Neighbours who share a passion for gardening? Actually, she has a garden to be able to talk to him, and he helps her with her little garden because he wants to support her and not scare her with his desires and bearded giant self.

That part of the story was really lovely. He protects her with all his secret skills. From there, lots of things happen that I don't want to spoil for anyone. There's a cat (thank you), adorable innocent interactions, a giant man who protects his woman though he finally falls into temptation and ravishes her really good, a dangerous enemy, a fight for justice and salvation, a family feud...

Really, lots of stuff. It's great entertainment.

“Now get on all fours.”

I wished I was on all fours and not reading this book, but fate brings me back to these smutty books with every burning passion that remains within me. I am always at a loss for words around these books.

It was definitely fun, something different. I liked the saving aspect, but she should’ve made the shot to kill those nasty humans. She should’ve shot all and both of them, I wished more would’ve been shown from her mother and the saved women, as well as the safety and how she overcame the trauma rather than the kid meeting Sully’s dad. Like who cares.

“Come for me, Petal. I need you to milk my cock. I’m going to feed your pussy every drop of my come.”

Her name was Orchid, but I guess there’s petals on orchids. It was a whirlwind, but I’m a sucker for nicknames. I’m not sure why I gave this book a three, it just wasn’t special.

🌶: 🌶.5

Mine to Claim was such a fun read that had me glued to my kindle all 107 pages! I absolutely loved how Sully was a gentle giant for Orchid, and he’d move heaven and earth to give her anything her hearts desires. They were an adorable couple that kept me smiling through the entire story and blushing over the smallest things they’d say to one another. I loved these two together so much, really loved little Orion, and hope we get to see them and more of their HEA in another book.

I’d really recommend picking to latest MINK up if you want a feel good story with the cutest couple and an happy ending. I hope we see some characters mentioned in the book because I’m very curious when it comes to them. You’ll have to read to know who I’m talking about!😍

Wow! This was a fantastic book. I love Orchid and Sully together. These two are drawn to each other since the first time they met but Sully has tried to keep his distance because of his past and believing that he is no good enough. These have more in common than they think but they are also a perfect fit. Orchid seems really shy, but she is so strong yet sweet and perfect for Sully, the growly bear. I really enjoyed this book and I really hope Jess and Reeve get their own books too. I would recommend this book and Mink as a must-read author.

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Orchid and Sully's story was totally adorable. Orchid escaped an awful upbringing and moved right next to Sully. When the prettiest woman moved in next door to Sully, he fell head over heels for her. Determined to be protect her, Sully concentrates on being her friend. It was so sweet how he took care of her, it was his favorite thing to do. This story was a lovely way to spend an afternoon, 5 stars!

Great read... I'm hoping this is a start on a new mini series???

Mink is one of my go-to authors. If she has a new book out I drop everything and read it! Never a disappointment. Sully is one major Alpha who worships Orchid and will do anything for her. His brother shows up to help and even a cameo from his mobster father.. I could see a book for Reeve and one for his father (her mother?) That would be crazy!

loved it!

I love this author! Mink is a big favorite I love all her books and I equally love that they all somehow connect. This book was different, I really liked the direction she took with the story telling. I liked that there was the fundamentalist element in the heroines past. I would've liked to know more about Sully's past and what they did but not super important. I like that Orchid was innocent but still strong. I really enjoyed this book!

Orchid and Sully

I loved Orchid and Sully... This is probably one of my favorite MINK reads to date. Sully was so sweet and protective with his Petal, even if he was gruff and rude to everyone else. He was willing to burn down the world to make sure she was safe. I loved their relationship!

meh

Not my favorite Mink. We have our sweet and naïve FMC and our grumpy and devoted MMC, but it’s somehow missing the usual charm. It felt like things were resolved too quickly. I’m sure the lack of details about the MMC’s background/history is setting us up for the brother’s book next, but it felt awkward.

Action Packed

Petal and Sully are a perfect fit for each other. The chemistry between the two is off the charts hot. What do you do when your past finally catches up with you. For Petal she runs, except she dont make it far. Sully vows to keep her safe. These two are so sweet to each other.

💮His Petal💮

A man with a mafia background who has taken a leave of 'the life'. A woman who has escaped a violent fate from a cult. Both become unlikely neighbors and start to develop feelings. Tall, burly recluse and innocent, sweet virgin. When danger comes knockin, Sully will stake his claim. 😉

I thought Orchid was so sweet and I loved that she had something with Sully. I loved that he came to the diner and I am glad he was there when her father and Jeremiah showed up. Even though they were forced to get to safety they were able to show they already loved each other.

Typical cute Mink story overall, but I was disappointed about the ending having some holes. Orchid said she got her laptop from her friend at the diner, so her father couldn't have tracked that to find her. It felt a little rushed too. Sully and Orchid were sweet, but I'm hoping Mink isn't getting lazy with her writing.

Great read. I loved Orchid and Sully I think k those two are perfect together. I am curious about Sully's brother Reeve does he have his own story? And if so what is the title if not will there be a story for him? And what about Orchid's mom? Would love to see a story foe her as well. I love how all the characters worked to make a geaat story line.
