The stakes have never been higher as the Twisted Sisters struggle to dish up enough magic to save themselves and their beloved Crescent City...
While the Voodoo Queen's loa roams the bayous in search of a new host, the sisters must hunt down the six sources of his power to keep him from ghosting the body he currently inhabits. But the manhunt quickly goes awry and places the sisters and their families in some cruel and cursed crosshairs. For extra protection from Marie Leveau and her magical minions, the sisters form their most unexpected alliance yet with an enterprising djinn.
Bolstered by their boosted defenses, the sisters lead the charge to create a new council for the paranormals of New Orleans. With their powers combined, the committee can stop Marie Leveau from ever terrorizing the city again. But first, they must stop her and the loa or the consequences will be dire. The sisters' lives are on the line, and this uphill battle to dethrone the Voodoo Queen could scorch the entire city.
The Twisted Sisters can’t seem too have any piece. With another treat to not only then but now their families, they will do anything they can too keep everyone safe. An enjoyable story and absolutely love the characters.
I voluntarily reviewed this arc in exchange for an honest review
This is book six of the Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom and live doesn’t get any easier for them. The Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau had managed to stuff the loa Baron Samedi into a mortal body, but at least she and Remzyn have been left powerless after breaking the Aegis Council’s agreement, which all had signed. Whilst a few quiet days have passed since all this happened, the sisters are busy as usual with yet another event to take place at Willowberry Plantation. This time a tea party instead of the usual bachelorette party and they all have lots to do. When Lia has a sudden vision of a former friend Amy in trouble, they go to her home expecting to have plenty of time to warn her, only to find a Dark Fae and Mambo had already killed her and they are too late! Even though Amy was a mundane, a normal human with no magic, the sisters’ call in Terence, the supernatural police officer for the area and find Xinar, an agent for the Underworld Investigative Services, turns up as well, having felt the dark magic at play. Lia feels guilty and believes the killers were after her and tried to get to her through torturing Amy. It seems Phi has a premonition with a warning that all the Smith sisters aka the Twisted Sisters, are in danger until they take care of the problem before them. Obviously this is to stop Baron Samedi regaining full power on the Mortal realm and then being able to control all.
The sisters call in the Head Witch Kaitlyn, who is accompanied by her friend who wants to be so much more, djinn Kaveh, who owes one of the sisters a favour. She could use it now or save it for a later time, when maybe one of their lives is in danger. As danger seems to follow the sisters and trouble is never far away from any of them. They do not shy away from taking down even such powerful persons such as Marie Laveau, who use their power to subjugate others. When they see something wrong, they can’t help but act. Now it seems, they must find the six vessels being used to power Baron Samedi and remove the dark energy from them, to further weaken him. But a lead form Kaveh soon has two of the sisters in mortal danger, with a mambo using their voodoo gifts on them and only the ability to shift into a dragon saves them. It seems Marie’s daughter is desperate to find all of the sisters and their locations, as well as the locations of any of their extended family and children, to use as pawns in breaking the sisters’ spirit and taking their powers. Marie Laveau and her mambos, plus the Dark Fae she has enlisted to help her, as well as all other creatures she employs to do her evil deeds, want to sacrifice the sisters and their family members, all to keep Baron Samedi’s link to the Mortal realm alive and fully empower him to remain. Freeing him of the constraints on Earth he would normally face as a loa!
The sisters are stronger together as they have come to realise, and are lucky to have the help of some powerful friends, as well as Noah and Lucas who are mates to two of the sisters, as well as being alpha and beta wolf shifters. The sisters are gaining new powers and learning more about how to use their magic all the time, with their lives changing completely in the last six months since magic became part of their world. Danger is never far away, but they are getting more adept at protecting themselves, even if they still end up with serious injuries at times. They need to continue to bring about the new style of management to the supernatural world of New Orleans, which the forming of the Aegis Council has certainly helped, which Marie Laveau had formerly run in her own manner and subjugated all those she deemed beneath her! The consequences of Marie’s actions could destroy the city and would be dire for all supernaturals and mundanes! Thank goodness for the Twisted Sisters and all those they have drawn into their embrace of fair play and doing what is right. I look forward to another great read to follow once the next book is out. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This story had alot more action than previous installments in the series but it is still lacking alot of depth with the characters.
Cons:
-Proofreading could have been better
-The glossary of characters at the end did not include all of Delphine's powers, nor did it include any other characters besides the Smith Family, the brothers weren't even really in this story so we didn't really need their info, we need one of all the magical beings especially since someone new is added every story.
-Cami's plot line at this point is kind of useless in my opinion, why even put her in the book at all if she only does the minutia of things
-The repeating of things we already know, it's almost like the author has amnesia about what she's said in previous stories
-Story is still only told from Dahlia and Danielle's point of view even though in the last book they added it from another sister's point of view
Pro's
-The glossary of characters was included (I know it was a con as well)
-Delphine has another power - we need to know why she's getting the most powerful
-Lucas/Lia and Noah/Danielle's relationships are blossoming
-This story made some progress in the overall arc of the series
-The plot line was interesting
Another question that I have is there were a bunch of characters added in the last book: the gnomes, brownies, dwarfs and nymphs but we don't hear about them at all in this book, are they still on the property?
I know I say it every time, but this is still a 3.5 star read, in order for this story to be more successful the author needs to cut out some of the characters, she already took on a massive feat with having it be about 6 sisters and the extended family is huge, and she keeps adding characters. The characters need more depth for sure and we need the story from other perspectives, maybe each book could be from one sister's perspective. And for goodness sake can we please call the character either their full name or nickname and stop using it interchangeably in the same sentence - sigh I digress.
Since I have no other good series right now I am continuing on with this one because at a minimum the plot is interesting.
Wish I could give this a higher star rating. A 5 star rating just doesn't cut it! I LOVED this book but then again, I say that every time I read a Brenda Trim book! She just has a way of writing that pulls you into the book and won't let you go until you have finished the book. It was this way again with Etou-Fae The Hard Way.
The Twisted Sisters are in the thick of it this time. It seems that they just can't catch a break with the paranormal world of New Orleans. Marie Laveau and Baron Samedi are causing trouble again. Lia's, high school friend is killed by a loa and dark fae only to be found by Lia and her sisters. Samedi has his mambos and loas going after the Smith sisters and their families. Will Samedi win this battle?
One thing about this book was the different narrators on each chapter. Because it was so action packed I found myself getting confused on who I was reading. There was some repetitive storyline and I was like didn't I just read this, but it was from another sisters' perspective. Although I had some confusion, I really loved the storyline. Like I said Brenda Trim has a way with writing a good story. I didn't finish it in record time, I took me 2 days, but it kept my reading until I couldn't anymore.
The characters are amazing and I've come to like them all. The Smith Sisters are forces to be reckon with and anyone who steps in their path or threatens their family need to watch out. The fact that it is situated in New Orleans is a BIG plus for me. I have always wanted to visit the southern city but never got a chance. It is one city on my bucket list that I will never get to see so I beg the author to keep going with this series. Her descriptions in the stories make it feel like I am their watching the story playout.
HIGHLY recommend this series if you like paranormal, over 40 women who kick butt and take names later. I LOVE this series.
A Twisted Sisters best friend is a really good healer, though it seems they could put a few more to work and keep them busy.
The Smith sisters are working hard at managing events at their plantation event space, and harder to manage their changing powers, skills and the many threats against them and their allies
Baron Samedi and a complex network of folks pledging fealty are proving to be a lot of trouble
Managing allies and other resources while trying to protect their families and seeing damage to old friends or colleagues is a huge challenge and a heavy and ongoing burden. Can support from other allies and associates help?
Devastating damages for many parties and forces might change the face of battles and allies, but their struggles appear far from over.
A gut wrenching and suspense filled saga.

I really like the story. 6 middle-aged sisters get their magical DNA turned on & they become a force for good in New Orleans. The part that bothers me is the narrator's point of view changes with every chapter. I have to keep referring to the beginning of each chapter to figure out which sister is "I" in this chapter. There needs to be a table in the front of each book naming the Smith siblings (in birth order), who they are married to ( or mated to), their children, and their powers. There also needs an table in the back naming all the different characters. I reread the last book before I read this one, but apparently many of the newer characters were from book #4. Again, love the story, but switching the narrator every chapter frustrates me and gives me a headache. Please fix this in the next book.
This series and the other interconnecting world of characters is awesome! The Twisted Sisters have a rather large family, and Voodoo Queen Marie and her daughter lost their powers by breaking the covenant of the new Supernatural council, that the Sisters started. However, Baron Samedi, one of the most powerful loa, wants them. The mambos and the Dark Fae are working together for Baron Samedi to become flesh. This would be extremely bad!
A lot of distressing things happen in this book. It is an emotional roller coaster, which is what makes it so good! A few reveals happen. I bit my nails a lot, but the book overall was awesome! I can’t wait for the next one, but I’m gonna have to start a family tree to keep track of all the kids and such.

Well, the sisters have found another big mess after Lia's childhood friend was murdered in her own home by a Dark Fae and a Mambo. At the end of the day with some help from all their friends they figure out this is related to the LOA Samedi and Marie and Remzyn's loss of power. He is being fueled by six souls but, that is only the beginning. Can they sisters figure it out and take care of it all in time to save not only the city but, themselves and their family? This was an awesome book. I really enjoy all the series I have read by this inkslinger. I highly recommend this book and series. Now, I'm off to wait for another book....
I feel bad only giving this book fours stars, but I felt it got a bit repetitive. There were like seven bad guys they needed to cast a spell on to break their ties to Samedi, and that was about three or four too many for me. I wanted more hot wolf lovin', lol. On the bright side, it looks like Cami may soon have a suitor! There is plenty of witchy action to go around and even a dragon appearance or two. They still have a big battle to come with Samedi, so stay tuned.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Love the twisted sisters and this is book 6. I love the writing there is love and humour but most of all action. In this book there is more action than others as the sisters have a lot of fighting to do to weaken Samedi, a low god.
They are not alone and have some powerful allies .
The end of the book is the "respite before the storm" that the sisters are going to face in the next book.
Looking forward to book 7.

The ever-changing point of view is difficult to follow, especially since the names change frequently and are actually fairly similar. There were multiple editing errors throughout the book that should have been caught with just a read-through. I felt like portions of the book were repeated multiple times and some scenes really dragged on. The characters had similar reactions that were tiring after a while. I really thought I'd continue through the series but it's not as enjoyable to me as it was earlier.
Well another fine mess, with the sisters in the Loa's path! We have a Mambo and a Dark Fae making trouble for everyone, plus their families. Will they truly ever overcome all of this and the trouble that is brought upon them? I believe that they will, and will be looking forward to see how it comes about. Great Read! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!.

This series is so much fun! I wait anxiously for each new installment. Finding out they're magical, powerful and an important part of those holding the line against paranormal evil in New Orleans, while trying to make a success of their new event planning business makes for six very busy sisters. These ladies and the crew they've accumulated kick some serious evil butt.

This is such a good series and this latest addition only enhances it. These sisters have been on one heck of an adventure with discovering magic and trying to save their city as well as set up their business but they totally kick ass as they join forces and set up a new council of paranormal beings to defeat this evil that is trying to take over. It’s an exciting addition, action packed and gripping.
I loved this book. There is never a dull moment with the sisters as they juggle their business and the evil around them. Love the idea of a bachelorette tea party. This is a unique fast paced read. I highly recommend it.

I loved the continuing story in this book! The action is nonstop trying to find the Mambo and Dark Fae that are threatening the Sister’s families. I like the idea that other readers had of having a family tree in the books to help keep all the family members their husbands/mates and children straight!.

Etou-Fae the Hard Way: Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom (Midlife Mysteries & Magic Book 26) by Brenda Trim. After Baron Semedi is successful in returning to this realm but The Twisted Sisters found out how to return the Baron home. It’s taking a toll on the Sister as their families are being threatened.
Book 6 is really good and it has a different story a lot of the same things but they do them in a way they don’t seem at like the same things. I love the stories of the six twisted sisters and their families and all they try to do to help people and get rid of evil. It’s fun to read these books.
I really enjoy reading this series, its always filled with action, adventure and humor. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This is such a good story! I've really enjoyed reading the Twisted Sisters storylines. Ms. Trim is a wonderfully creative author. The plot flows very well. You won't be sorry to buy this book!

Cami and her mother find the answers the Sisters need in order to fight Marie Laveau and the incarnation of Baron Samedi. This story has plenty of action and romance, ending on a good note and with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.
This was another great entry in the Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom series. I always enjoy read Brenda Trim's work, it has a great concept and the characters are unique.

Well what can I say this one is blinking brilliant. The twisted sisters are fighting for the benefit of the paranormal world one baddie at a time. Their own lives bring interrupt time after time but the carry on and hope they succeed.
The women are feeling beaten, but they're not done yet. I'm exhausted just reading about everything that they are doing, I couldn't imagine actually doing it myself. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
Other than the odd editing errors this was a good book! I'm finally starting to be able to tell who is who somewhat. These books are fun and irreverent and seriously action-packed. Looking forward to more!
